That Microtech, i got one incomeing soon, as a gift, one plane age, and around here they are legal to carry, so my question is, do you think it could work as a EDC? Or is it too "gimicky"? never handeled any microtech knives befor, only benchmade and spyderco.

@gibsonbat9 First Benchmade autos I bought were the Auto Stryker and the AFO back in 98. Someone stole the AFO out of my truck about 6 years ago, but I still have the Auto Stryker.

The only name brand auto knife i have is a gerber auto and it is nowhere near as fast opening as any of the ones you've just shown.It must have a weaker spring or something.Oh well it's still a nice good quality knife!

Is it legal? It depends. What country and if in the US what state do you live in? Start there. If you cannot find the answer consult a lawyer preferably or at least a cop. I live in MD so it is legal to own but not to carry outside. Automatics are considered switchblades. Otherwise MD is a fairly folder knife friendly place.

Very Nice Collection There. The only 2 things I never liked about automatic knives are #1 pretty expensive to purchase the good ones like Microtech , and #2 Automatic knives like any other moving mechanical mechanism , has a life span. Kind of like the U Joints on your truck. After so many cycles , when it's time is up , it's time is up. Even a $2000.00 Harkins Custom has a life span. Tip , store them in the open position , keeps unnecessary tension off the springs :)

also some law says a knife has to have a purpuse and a balsion or stiletto is manely for stabbing and not to do work whit, i have some folders from spyderco chinook 3 and the spyderco police and those arent verry much tools eihter fuckded up law making.I cant get a good balisong wehere i lve or a stillto grrr maybe i wil but one in Italy or spain of there legal there nowdays the weare in the past.My balsiong is stolen wen me house burnd down nevver got it back

Fire arms are way more dangerous because if you got one and you snap in anny situation it becomes verry deadly just pull the trigger, a knife is somwhat slower to drwa and you think twice before stabbing somone, meself iam agianst firearms, but a knife in your pockket is ok in my opinion its les deadly.The stupid law on balisongs and automatci knifes is only basded on movies where gansters use them...the also use guns wierd...

IN Florida, yes, you can own them and carry them around your home. You are also allowed to carry them if they are not concealed. If you have a Concealed Weapons Permit, you are allowed to carry them concealed in your pocket.
