Large private Canadian banks employed up to 20 to 1 leverage in 2008 (fractional reserve lending allows them to amplify their loans 20 times their assets). This is illegal in private hands. They charge compound interest on money they have created. This is a Ponzi scheme as they only lend out the principal not the interest. This is bound to fail and allows them to steal assets from middle class - without doing any work.
