The budget Olsen voted for also allowed schools to put an end to stranglehold the unions had on them! So for the schools that did not give in to union pressure to sign contracts before the bill was passed, they were able to cut costs to MORE than make up for the loss of revenue from the state! It is a WIN for schools and a WIN for state taxpayers! Plus, the state did not have to raid other funds to try and balance the budget!
The people whose minds need to be changed are those whose anger has been misdirected at the union movement, Pres. Obama, etc. The right brilliantly steered the fear and sense of outrage toward the left - to the exten that people were blaming Obama for the financial crisis only months after he was in office. Please try to engage with thosee misdirected neighbors and friends - share your heartfelt convictions with them first, facts and numbers later.
Father please let the spirit of GREED be broken and cast into The Fire..
please help us, the people, rise up and run this government as it was intended..
i thank you for all things and in all things praise you..you are an AWESOME God i LOVE you..please help the ultra rich to see how you see and give them a heart for the poor, help this country focus on its future by focusing on children, help EVERY CHILD know your voice, in the Mighty name Jesus Christ..Amen
The teaparty's goal was to destroy President Obama and look at what happened election 2010! We have these elected peeps who are for the BIG corporations and to hell with education! These sappy governors like Snyder, Walker, Sott, Perry and others suck! I won't even get started on Bohner. They do NOT care about the American people...only their own selfish selves and their ilk.

and teachers unions and their Insurance company fronts have closed your school, tax cuts for rich corporations? Talk to Geitner and Obama on that, GE is in their pocket, and they are in GEs, Take back from the right? The only time the budget has been balanced was when Republicans controlled the House AND Senate, what a bunch of drivel
@stapa1977 It was ruined before the Tea Party formed as a reaction to runaway spending and deficits, you can still read and think cant you? Then read and think
@HRMOKeefe1 Yes, I can read! Well, you are correct regard the deficits. Do you recall the surplus budget the President Clinton left for GWB? Bush squandered that in a heatrbeat. The attack on a sovereign nation really put us in debt...(But Haliburton sure made out like BANDITS!) Bush said his war in Iraq would only last a few weeks.... :/ And those tax cuts on the wealthy!!! President Obama came into office to clean up Bush's eight years of destruction. Then along comes the "teaparty".
Among 179 countries, the United States ranks 20th in literacy. Google " List of countries by literacy rate". We must be doing something right. Don't bail out Wall Street, bail out our kids.
first of which school are they closing, a town of 50 people have 2 poy sippi elementary, and secondly Wisconsin was been run by the Democrats for a 100 years, why don't you move to Madison so you're kids can go to the best maxis schools, and learn how to a slave to the state.
Let just say this in the past decade school enrollment has gone up 13%, the number of School administrators and other employees have increased by 60%, number of Teacher's have increased 35%. Mean while test scores have remained flat or fallen. Bottom line is all that increase in spending on Education did not go to the kids. Therefore hiring all these new employees and Teachers failed so what is wrong with cutting that wasteful spending?
@quizerry Graduation rates for public schools in collective bargaining states are among the highest in the country. The national average is 74.9%. Wisconsin leads the pack with 89.6% graduation rate. This year, Wall Street bonuses exceeded 20 Billion dollars for the first time. These are the same people who have been screwing us all and who caused the economic disaster. Who are the bad guys here?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@SenseOfRumor High Graduation rates are great there are many non collective bargaining States with similar rates. Other factors are involved as well. But that isn't the point I was making, the point is taxpayers spend all this money on education but the kids do not benefit. The Education system is lacking when we score much lower then other Nations. And our math and science get worse every year. And what does wall street have to do with public education?
@quizerry Generalizing about the US educational system compared to other countries begs the question, "Where did you get your facts?" I took the time to review the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), which focuses on 15-year-olds and proves the US ranks way above average in reading and science while still being above average in mathematics. And we improved over the last decade. It doesn't compare spending but I'll bet it's linked. Don't bail out Wall Street, bail out our kids.
We need to take back our country from the horrible ideas of the Right. I'm not going to call them radical or nut jobs because that would put me on their level. I'm simple just going to state that their ideas don't work and never have. History will do the rest of the talking.
