Historically ALL breeds of purebred dogs have gone through their own period of being a so called "Designer Breed" at some time during their historical creation.
I stumbled across this article about the health issues surrounding crossbreeds and purebred dogs and it was so well written and probably the most unbiased article on this topic I've ever read. It was WONDERFUL, but for the life of me I cannot find it.
All goes back to RESPONSIBLE breeding. It is their duty to health test all breeding stock and only breed from genetically clear, happy animals. Putting (A) to (B) is no better than putting (A) to (A) unless they are clear of known health defects.
I feel that comment to be a bit strong - "ALL the scientific studies" and "There is NOT A SINGLE PIECE of evidence that indicates the reverse".
What if...The pups of two different purebred dogs inherit the genetic health issues passed on by both sire and dam? I'm sure the scientists wouldn't dare test those dogs as examples.
That's exactly what scientists have done. They found that on average crossbred dogs lived longer than purebreds, and were healthier. Of course that doesn't mean that ALL crossbred dogs will be healthier than purebreds, but it does meant that the majority are. This has been backed up by many studies, conducted by different research groups, in different countries. There has not been a single study published that has shown otherwise.

I don't know why everyone hates Designer Dogs. They are better than Pugs which are damn ugly, can't breathe, have hip displacia and need help to breed. What does that tell you? If it weren't for Human intervention, Pugs would be extinct. Leave Pugs alone!!
I am so proud of myself :D i am on youtube for something that me nor my friends put on :):)btw i am courtney and waggsy and live are heaos bigger now and they are toilet trained along with other stuff ;P. i look so fat and ugly here :S :)omg i am sooo happy but -_- you just proved me wrong coz my mum and i were just talking about how the dogs are 2 yrs not 1 and i think they are 1 and she says 2 and this just proved she was right :P
I'm glad someone like Don Burke is trying to do something about the health problems that inbreeding and mindless adherence to "breed standards" has introduced in many pedigreed dog breeds.
