it does have a slight led zeppelin ring to it. but then as music always does, whatever comes out at the time, it all sounds a bit alike. even the music today will be compared to each other...so shall it be written,so shall it be done...i have said my part...
as a teen-ager I used to think there aws an assonance between this song and stairway to heaven...I lost that feeling...correction...I still have that feeling...
@naughtyflea It comes when you least expect it. Don't try too hard, but don't wait for it to fall into your lap. It's always darkest before the dawn. Hang in there, my friend.
This song has personal significance to me because of an event that happened on this date many years ago. Every 10/10 I try to listen to it once. Sometimes a song takes on a personal meaning beyond the song itself.
and when there's nothing left to say...write a book and make a film. sing some songs and learn to live in a world with only glimpses of windows into souls.
It was 1976, or something, I found this song from public library. It was a book of Eric Clapton´s songs. I had already fallen in love with this amazing guitarpalyer. So this became the first song of Clapton´s that I learned to play. Now over 30 years later, I have the same feeling, when I listening this song. Love is levely!
I have the Martin guitar that recorded this song. Looking for a concert pic or studio pic of EC playing a Martin 12 String performing this tune. Big reward! Thanks
I bought this album when it came it out. And I played it and played it. And every time this song was over my mom would ask me who does this song. For the millionth time Eric Clapton. What's he doing singing a song this beautiful she would say. Or this is a beautiful song.
@greenwoodthebard Harvested? What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that most Led Zeppelin songs were ripped off from original songs by The Yardbirds? If so, you are sorely mistaken.
@Illadelphism led zep lyrics and album artwork were original; but most of jimmy page's rhythms and riffs were taken from the early days when he was lead guitar with the yardbirds, and re-hashed to create the led zep classics we all know and love! That's not a criticism, but it is true
1974 was really an intense time for the likes of Clapton, Harrison, Lennon, Nilson, They holed up in rental properties in L.A. & Miami. Off their rockers yet producing amazing music. Harrison went on his Dark Horse Tour of North America & vowed afterward never to tour again.
@AssinnippiJack It was said by one of the Beatles' associates that Paul really had the insaitable appetite for live performance. John didn't want to tour anymore either. Compared to the others it really became McCartney who would, compare to the others, tour his butt off.
@AntaClaydo Neither. That legendary house is in Golden Beach Florida...just north of Miami. Lots of people still drive there to this day looking for him. He only lived there a month. But what a month that was.
OK, ... seriously not really into Eric, but I heard this song from an album that I got at a garage sale. This song is pure genius. It doesnt nearly get enuff radio air play on any of the old rock stations. Damn shame. Kids of today should hear -REAL- quality music like this, no that Katie " ur 15 minutes are up " Perry or Lady Ga Ga, go away crap who will be forgotten in 3 years.
beautifull...

This sounds nothing like Led Zep. I don't know where people come up with this stuff. It sounds like early Eric Clapton.

Clapton is by far, the best guitar player in the WORLD. Always was.

Always liked but 'Stairway' predated this by 3 years!
mancmuso1 6 months ago
@mancmuso1 True; Clapton admitted himself that the guitar part was totally ripped off from 'Stairway to Heaven'. Good song nonetheless.

@Illadelphism then again, most of what led zep did was harvested from the yardbirds anyway!
