Thank you, I did find the photo at the website! And to replace my deleted comment - thank you for this very lovely video, it's a beautiful tribute to a beautiful actor!!
This is a reply to a comment we deleted in error. Due to no link ability in these comment pages I can only point you to floor 10 row 2 of the the exhibition of The Anna May Wong Society. The link to that can be found on the AnnaMayWongSociety YouTube home page. Thou the restorations are not meant for distribution, you will find the photo and other nice things related to Paul Robeson including his short performance in Mandarin Chinese.
....no better version for this astonishing good collage of photographs and action images of Anna May Wong than AL BOWLLY s.. These Foolish Things remind me of you.........even Hiawatha's Hideway is perfection for a collage of silent lost expresive face moments of miss Wong...Golden Age of Screen test
We love Brian's interpretation and debated about this. Brian used all of the hard to find lyrics due to his personal research and love for the song. But the mood we wanted with this video was just too much in Rod's favour. And not to forget the hundreds of other versions out there including recordings by those that Anna actually heard and likely, if able, would relate to more so then either of these modern interpretations.
is very close to the British version, but regrettabley w/out the verse. (Oh Will Youi never Let Me be, Oh Will You Never Set Me Free....) Makes the Chorus of the Song even more meaningful.
I just finished watching Picadilly on dvd.. I've had never listen about Anna May Wong before and I'm still astonished by her beauty and misterious look. I was trying to find something about her here on youtube and I just found this beautifull video.
great stuff thanks. she certainly was a beautiful woman! i especially liked the picture of her with paul robeson, one of my personal heroes. i'd like to imagine that they were a couple...that would have been very cool!
Thanks so much, we really paid a price with the compression that high quality option does to the sound. With your comment our hours and hours finding a bearable sound compromise to get this to people in HQ makes it rewarding. Hopefully YouTube will loosen up on HQ sound restrictions.
I have been emailed more than once regarding the place and relevance at 0:27 The wonderful place is Little Venice in London where I have found in papers, served setting for a latent, short but timeless swan song. Two lost in love then love lost...Anna May Wong and writer of These Foolish Things - Eric Maschwitz.
AMWS Note:I guess we tested the limits of YouTube's higher quality option and had to reduce the sound level to achieve success. Just turn it up if you desire.
I was looking up old hollwood eyebrows and I found her now I am too distracted to do my eyebrows...

Was she a single eyelid or double eyelid?

Love this version of the song and great to see Anna May Wong. Missed opportunities due to racism.

Tears... because this song's about real-life love that could never be fulfiled for Anna May Wong.

One of the actors between 2:05 -2:10 is Douglas Fairbanks from The Thief of Bagdad.

She made up the dance herself for the scene. The costume she wore, including the ornament on her head was a Thailand costume.

nicely done!

Wonderful video. I saw Ms Wong recently in "piccadilly", and would like to know what the style of dance is she performs in that movie. Anyone know?

She was a beautiful lady. I wish there were more roles open to her at that time.

Beautiful AMWS. I've been to your site and found images of Miss Wong that can only be called haunting, as the girl was herself.
Tragic Beauty...to die for.
Thank you

I sing this arrangement at Karaoke. It
is very close to the British version, but regrettabley w/out the verse. (Oh Will Youi never Let Me be, Oh Will You Never Set Me Free....) Makes the Chorus of the Song even more meaningful.

Dear AMWS [D.]--extraordinary. My understanding is that the words precisely interpret Anna May's effect on many men. Tom
