What a talent. He was everything that represented the best in music, back in the day. Such a gift. The best of music came from this generation of musicians. My grandson, Christopher, is constantly asking me if I've ever heard of this one, or that one. The other day, it was Cat Stevens. I hugged him and kissed him and we sat and listened to "Tea for the Tillerman," together. My grandson, he's a smart one.
I learn to play the acoustic guitar by watching and listening to this song when it first came out in in 1970 when I was 13 years old. Notice it is all "open chords". It's fast tempo but fairly easy to play. Still love and use it to warm up.
This exemplifies the difference between a real artist and a hack pop musician. A real artist isn't afraid to stop and start until they have demonstrated the music in the way it was meant to be played. A real artist isn't ashamed to make a mistake and start again. A real artist delivers on their craft until they satisfy the only person who needs to give it their approval--themselves. Ladies and Gentleman... a real artist: Cat Stevens.

lets face it this guy is arguably the best singer+ song writer the world had seen. its a shame the industry tried to banish his music because he became a Muslim. a true musical legend.

I agree with your evaluation but where did you get the idea that the industry tried to ban his music? I've never heard Yusuf say that in any of his interviews.

hi, i never said ban i said banish.. ie. driving a steam roller over his records after stiching him up on national television and inciminating him with lies about what he said. if you havent already seen "cat stevens to yusaf islam" i would recommend it.
