The Yomega® Xodus II is designed for string tricks but more specifically for a style of play called “off string”. It has a very wide profile to catch the sting and contains a steel ball bearing to deliver long spin times. Its rubber rims are engineered to protect the yo-yo from ground contact.
Yes, the Raider can do all the looping and string trick like the Fireball. For more advanced looping tricks the Raider EX comes with color coded spacers in different sizes.
@stebonius17 To help center your throw and avoid the yoyo going on an angle, place the string on your middle finger between the last two knuckles. Make a muscle and throw it down evenly. You'll get it with practice.
@yomegacorp also, since i started playing with my yo-yo more consistently, the string always scrapes the edge of my finger, and the skin is all broken. and im using the slip knot and everything, so am i doing something wrong?
@stebonius17 you want to place the stirng between the last two knuckles on your middle / index finger. Make sure the string knot is facing downward and not upward. Also, to protect your finger, try putting a bandaid or medical tape on your skin prior to playing. For more technical help, contact info@yomega.com
@stebonius17 A Raider that is non repsonsive requires some lube on its bearing. Use Yomega lube, baby or mineral oil. As for stringing, one loop works well. Other types of stringing for looping tricks is really personal preference.
@NecromancerSteve You can certainly do the Trapeze with a Raider but for most string tricks you want to use a wing shaped yoyo like a Maverick or Dash. The Raider is best for looping tricks. For a Raider, I would recommend just a single loop over the axle.
OK, I have been trying the Trapeze trick over and over for like 3 weeks, and the yoyo barely ever lands on the string (i have a raider.) It ususally goes behind the string. And when it does land, the string gets tangled inside. And for some reason it is nonresponsive too, even after I use the lube. Should I double loop the string around the bearing or single loop it? And any reccomendations for my trapeze problem?
@db0lover Since the Raider is designed for looping and general play, and the Hot Shot is designed for advanced string trick play, the Hot Shot should spin longer.
my next yoyo is a raider. im on a fireball right now. one of the best yoyos i ever used. its simple, its good for spinning, and its relieible. the raider looks awesome though!
@mabeto5 to loop a Raider you will need to provide it with a strong throw. For more on how to loop, watch the Yomega Mania DVD or visit the trick section at yomega.com
how do you do these tricks without losing speed? when i try doing it, it starts losing speed really quickly and eventually have to rewind it back by hand?
@cloysterX418 when you are looping a yoyo you need to provide a significant amount of energy (speed) to the yoyo so it returns well to your hand when called. Also, in general, yoyos like the Raider and Raider Ex are made for looping tricks while the Maverick and Dash yoyos are made for string tricks.
@roeltje26 it really depends on your skill set. If your a beginner and want to learn the basics the XP is a great fit. If you already have some skills and want to take on a great looping yoyo then the Raider or Raider Ex will work best for you.
@bobbleheadz12 if your Raider yoyo doesnt sleep and snaps back quick you most likely have a knot or pinched string. restring and retry. also make sure you have the parts in correctly.
ya its hard tho and takes practice you might wanna do it with a butterfly type of yoyo the brain xp wing is good cuz you can turn the shocks on and off
yomega i got 2 raider ex's i gonna learn 2a:)

does the raider spin longer, or the fireball?
cloysterX418 1 year ago
@cloysterX418 The Raider will spin longer because it is a ball bearing yoyo. The Fireball transaxle is a good spinner but not as good as a Raider.
