As a female singer that LOVES to sing this kind of song, I wish people today would take the time to listen to meaningful music like this! Good music is out there...but people have to be willing to LISTEN...that means put the cellphones down, stop fidgeting, listen to the music, and let the emotions flow.

at 44 yrs. old i'm still wondering how did music like this turn into singing about your ass,dick,money,clubs,strip clubs,bling,cars & other senseless,repetitive,no creative,no substance bullshit? i've noticed that artist today DON'T have the voices,passion,love, & soul as the artist in the 60's,70's,80's,early 90's.today they don't have to put in the hard work like they did back then.if you don't have a great body,big ass, or a raunchy mouth, you're not gonna make it in todays industry.it's sad

I had the pleasure of seeing them in a small theater in the round in 1982, we had second row seats. She stood 15 feet away from me singing this, I had chills through the whole song. Such an amazing voice!

Like most people, I've had some bad breakups and some terrible ones. This song always seems to haunt me. There were definately times when we both should have said goodbye and started the healing process long before we did.

I cannot get enough of this clip. Gladys Knight is a diamond! She shines bright with her immense talent, and showmanship. Her emotions and actions authentically match the song she is singing. The Pips augment the song in form and fashion; they are not taking anything away from the performance at all. What a great performance!

Some consider it to be a "break-up" song, but in a very enigmatic way, it makes you want to recapture and cling to the love that brought you together.
