what i like about depp and river is that they turned up to film premiere's in the 90's dressed incredibly down and unconcerned about style thereby achieveing an effortless level of cool that no one has since recaptured .. .

@OctoroonToYou I don't think it's about California and show business, it's about who you are and where you are deep inside. River was vulnerable to Hollywood dangers and as sad as it can be, he got lost on his own. There are loads of examples of famous people who stepped the wrong way and sometimes died but on the other side, just look at how many famous and enthused people passed celebrity with flying colors and (almost) no harm...

Brilliant actor. Sad to see people like him go. He was one of a series of people who all had similar characteristics; Hailed as highly talented, debuted at a very young age, clean cut image, and died very young in unnatural circumstances, giving them cult followings. Other people similar are James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, and the late Heath Ledger. At least Phoenix's legacy is kept alive by his "imitators", such as Leo DiCaprio and Michael Pitt.

River was so beautiful inside and out. He was an amazing actor and a great humanitarian. He loved to act but he didn't like Hollywood. That's not what he was about. He wasn't into all the glamour and glitz. He was a real person. It is so sad that he died so young. He had so much left to give. I know he would still have been an amazing actor to this day if he were still here with us.

I can tell this is a comment from some1 who has never been addicted or know some1 addicted to drugs cuz ppl like that always think its so simple..if it was every1 would b off drugs. A person can b upfront about their drug usage & still cant b saved bcuz they dont want to b. salvation happens only when the person is ready for it to happen otherwise its futile & they will stay on drugs!

I was born in 1993, november.. so i didnt get a chance to grow up with his film either and its really sad. Stand by me is the best movie ever, the journey they do with each other is so heartbreaking to watch. I am saving my money and going to the location where they filmed the movie. Its hav e huge effect on me! He was the best actor :(
