In Texas near lake Whitney, when I was a child in the '60s, a neighbor farmer drove up with a rattlesanake draped across the back bumper of his 56 Buick. Both the head and the tail were dragging the ground. I ma not sure how long that was but that snake was a big'un. That area of TX has so many rattlers that it is nearly impossible to live there. It is crazy to live life always looking for a snake wherever you walk.
@twostones00 although this isnt a 7ft snake you might want to research before opening your mouth to speak. I am 67 inches tall, and since you are a math moron that is 5 foot 7 inches the second longest measure snake for a western Diamond back was 92 inches again math moron that is 7.67 feet.
I don't know about 14 ft. but...30 yrs ago I saw one at least 10 + ft. on the Kern Plateau.
The road had just been paved & the lane markings were new. Driving with my son, I saw something 80 to 100 ft away in the road that looked like a large Boa or Python. Driving closer my first thought was oh crap its a rattlesnake. The tail was at least a foot in the dirt and the head was at least another ft over the center line. The thing that was impressive wasn't just the length but the bulk of the body.
14 inches thats not much they are small. I guess there are many of that creep in the USA. Maybe its time to thin out in the population OR does the nature have the full control by doing that? Hunters are shooting roedeer when there are too many including other species, but i dont know if it is necessary to do it with snakes.
in all of our great countries incredibly long history of obsessive record keeping there has never been a RS even close to 14 feet, first off, that being said there is noway to disprove his claim unless you have something in frame to compare the snakes size to, so by saying "that's not 14feet its 14 inches" you're just as bad as the guy makin the claim, you have no reference point to argue the snakes size
@lowerstandardz The longest recorded rattlesnake was an eight foo long Eastern Diamondback in one of the Carolinas (North or South I forget). If you have proof then yes lets see it.
@lowerstandardz look dude, im no tree huggin hippie, but honestly i dont think you should kill any animal unless you need to do so in order to survive, so you can or your friends can kill 15 foot rattlers if you want, just dont brag about it because there is nothing to be proud of all you really had to do was drop a rock on it
@connjamm19 i would pay money to see you 'drop a rock' on a rattlesnake and be satisfied. i live in southeastern colorado, and i am in northeastern new mexico 90% of my summer days. i have shot a rattlesnake numeral times in the head with .44 mag snake load (a mini .12 guage shell) and watch them slither around before a final round killed them and the nerve endings made the body move.im sorry but i would love to see you 'drop a rock on it' and still go fuck with it.it wont happen.i guarantee it
You guys actually thought that a rattler could grow to 14 feet. Seriously guys, use your brains. If you think I was tricked too, I just came here to rip on the idiots.
No rattlesnake is 14 feet. The largest rattlesnake would be the Eastern Diamond back rattlesnake. The max for it is about 8 feet. The second largest rattlesnake would be the Western Diamond back rattlesnake. The max for it is about 6 to 7 feet. The third would be the neotropical rattlesnake and it grows to about 6 feet as well.
14 foot? That is BEYOND LAUGHABLE. Eastern Diamondbacks grow larger than Western Diamondbacks, and the largest ever recorded Eastern is about 8 feet. I swear I don't see where people come up with such nonsense.
LMAO that is not a 14 foot snake obviously. But you got another view with the title. The longest eastern diamondback is about 8 feet long, nice try though lol.
yes this is like 4' but there have been several rattlers over 7' 3 years ago in amarillo tx one was killed over 9' and weighed just under 100 lbs. different species get bigger- it is true a full grown rattler gets up to 6- 6.5' but bigger ones are recorded. 14 ft? nahh this was a missprint im sure.
well atleast i learned somthing fro mthis video except a lot of liang bullshit, then thats why my mouse is called diamondback, very interesting, thanks!
I don't give a shit if you don't belive me, I saw it with my own eyes and that's enough for me. How many feet there are in 7 meters? Well that's the lenght of the Rattlesnake.
ok,i need sum help.we live in florida and we have a pygmy diamondback rattlesnake sumwhere in our yard or neighborhood.we killed 1 of the babies that was in our garage and we're pretty sure there's much more.will moth balls and snake repellent get rid of them?no,i don't no wut kind of moth balls or snake repellent.and would a shot from a BB gun or Pellet gun to the head 2 or 3 times kill it?lol
lmao snake repellent? theres no such thing that really works and moth balls are for moths! a snake will go for shelter and food, keep the verman population as low as possible and try to keep the yard clean.
The biggest Rattlesnake record ever caught was in Nuevo Leon, Mexico in the 1950's measuring 6.5 meters that's like 17 feet, its on display as taxydermy in the Chapultepec Museum of Mexico city. Its probably a Rattlesnake from the Prehistoric era cuz its just too big for today's standard rattlesnake.
There is no such thing as a 17-foot rattlesnake -- not even close. Eastern diamondbacks, native to the SE USA, are the largest species of rattlesnake and reach a maximum of about eight feet. If there is a "prehistoric" rattlesnake in a museum, how did humans acquire it in the first place? If it were prehistoric it would be nothing more than a fossil.
The western diamondback in this video, incidentally, is closer to 14 inches than 14 feet.
Dude i saw it with my own eyes at the Chapultepec museum, if you don't believe me make a trip and see it by yourself take pictures cuz none of your friends are going to believe you either. Imagine an anaconda but instead its a rattlesnake very impressive, its an extremely rare specimen.
lol! Nice try, gerry1976. This snake is about 2-3 feet long at most. Look at the speed of its tongue flicking. Large snakes' tongues move VERY slowly, regardless of species. It's a function of size and mass.
Even 8 foot snakes' tongues move MUCH more slowly than that, including the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake.
Not only that, but Rattlers have only ever been officially recorded up to just over 8 feet in length. (Eastern Diamondback)
Your attempt at bullshitting people has been BUSTED!
Do you know how to read? well read my previous comment you moron, I'm not talking about this rattlesnake on the video, I'm talking about a Rattlesnake at display in a Museum at Mexico city. Of course this rattlesnake at the video should be 4 or 5 feet at the most.
In case you haven't researched, the largest rattlesnake in the world is the Eastern Diamondback Rattler. The Bushmaster of Central America is larger but is not a rattlesnake. I stand by my statement. Regardless of any snake-skin that has been stretched to make it look longer than it actually was on the animal, there is no record I have ever found of a rattlesnake over 9 feet. If you can produce proof of such a huge rattlesnake, I will be convinced. Until then, just stop trying.
I was as skeptical as you are I didn't believe the person that told me about that Rattlesnake till I saw it with my own eyes, no pictures or cam is allowed in that museum that's why I can't prove it on video. Anyways, you have to see it by yourself. Travel outside the US there are many interesting things you need to see to believe.
no cams or video in a musseum ur full of shit you told old m8 to go see it and take pictures then fuck up the lie and the worlds largest recorded rattlesnake was a eastern diamondback recorded at 96 inches!
Western Diamondbacks very seldom ever get much longer than 6 feet. I've seen many, and I wouldn't say that particular snake would barely scratch the 4 foot mark! The Eastern Diamondback has been known to reach lengths of around 9 feet, but these are rare-most seem to be in the 4 to 8 foot range.

The National Association of Snake Attacks and Snake Related Assaults (NASASRA) recommends not getting bitten by a snake.
If bitten the NASASRA advises against allowing yourself to be bitten again.
The NASASRA recommends these safety tips...
1. Do NOT try to check a snake for cavities
2. Do NOT attempt to milk a snake
3. Do NOT put a snake in your pants
4. Do NOT allow snakes to babysit children
5. Do NOT ask snakes for directions
6. Do NOT breast feed snakes
