McCartney wrote some great stuff along with plenty of fluff, but for its time this was simply a brilliant composition - i've always deeply admired it. I've also always wondered why it never got much attention that Led Zeppelin so obviously stole his riff at the end of this song and shamelessly turned it into Stairway to Heaven. It was such a blatant rip off - never understood why McCartney didn't sue...

Brian Epstein thaught of it as a publicating stunt for when people would start losing interrested in them, since they weren't recording stuff like Please Please Me anymore.
