I'll stick to old style of farming. It's space saving and for me it don't matter if I get my wheat 10-15 mins earlier. But this was another nice video.
@yamxa996 RIght, that's what time lapse 1 showed. Rows are always faster for full growth... but it's so close that you'll still get more out of full -out.
If it checks north AND south first, then why not place in east/west rows in sets of two then an empty tilled row. That would let you compress the space taken by ~33% and still keep the maximum growth speed. Am I mistaken?
@EFT202020 honestly, that question is much easier answered by having you watch the "optimal farming - wheat" video... I'll add a link in the description now (and no, not trying to drive my views up, it's just a LOT of info to cover).
@EFT202020 The short answer is yes, each chunk tries to update 20 blocks within it every tick (1/20th of a second), a single block per chunk can be selected multiple times, each block that's chosen that's a wheat block runs an algorithm from there to determine if it'll grow or not.
@TheUlsfark What SuperStishious said. Honestly, a lot like we learned last time - the probability supports rows but that your harvesting style should dictate how you build it.
Thanx for doing this experiment. I actually only farm this way now because i get board of mining and building and want to come back and do some farming and this is a good amount of time.
yo mrpixletech? where can i get your custom map world thingy? i wanna try it out.

Klaypex! Nice. The difference in growth is really surprising.

Lol...I watched the whole thing..fascinating;-) Am I weird?

The thing about this that you have to note is space, even though rows makes wheat grow faster, you get more wheat in the same time with full out...

does each chuck try to grow wheat each tick, or is it at once?
I.e would you gain grow rate by splitting up ur farm in 4 chucks?

MrPixelTech 3 months ago
@EFT202020 no because then there would be 1/4 of the farm in 4 chunks which would equal out the same rate as having it all in one chunk

So mrpixel we learned today that wheat grows faster in rows instead of a big patch of wheat? :)
TheUlsfark 3 months ago
@TheUlsfark nope, we learned it's more probable that it'll grow faster. but not always, just probably
