Why using a truck? Trucks can be useful just to transport big and heavy things... If the idea is to transport people, you should consider using a bus (or a micro-bus) to guide the comboy instead trucks. The wind-cut effect is the same
This puts Minority Report in mind. Great idea. Good start to cars where we just give them the destination. All of traffic shall become the train, and we merge into it.
technology should never replace human core influence over driving, sure it should accompany it, but it should never fully take over from the human. I mean really they should NEVER encourage not watching the road AT ALL, that is just stupid. What if the wireless system develops a fault while driving and suddenly accelerates, brakes or turns? computers are not known to be the most reliable thing on the planet.... I support safety inovation, but I honestly dont like this idea AT ALL.
I hope this never happens. It will destroy all fun to be had in a car whilst still using more fuel than public transport. If you want to tailgate to save fuel you can do so without this idiotic system. If you are too incompetent to drive a car, get on the bus.
Wonder if those advocates have ever considered such road situations: when a car follows too close to a trucker or big car, there is always small flying stones sprung from the rear wheels of the trucks which will damage car's windshields and painted surfaces, and also there is heavy dust generated by the rear wheels of truckers.

cool concept. always had it in the back of my head but didn't know anyone would really try to pursue this sort of thing.
hmm erik nordin sounds like a robot. almost stephen hawking even.
anyway, how would you switch lanes? like if there was an accident in the middle of the road?
what if one person in the middle of the whole line suddenly wants to change the destination?

Yeah, one kernel panic or BSOD, and then you have potentially hundreds of fatalities. No thanks.

This is great idea. Just like airplanes that can take off and land automatically.
