I also had my swift done to the 9's, header, exhaust, Cold air intake, superchip, poly bushings, Jamx springs and kyb, TSW blades Yokohama a520, brake pkg, sheeeesh.. I loved that car! I loved the look on people faces when I'd pass them on the hwy at 220kph! I really did LMAO!
I had a 1992 Swift gt. temps in the winters went as low as -40. The same this always happened to me if the car stalled on a very cold morning. Best solution is to get a block heater and plug it in. BUT if you can't do that, when you first turn the key, the fuel pump jets fuel into the cylinders. Wait 5 seconds before turning the key. Do not touch the gas petal. Or the brakes. Make sure your lights are off and radio as well, rear defrost too. If the car stalls using this method, restart the car
I had the same problem with mine. It's a problem with the cold start programming. If you can still fine one get a SuperChips chip. You get more power and it completely gets rid of this stupid cold start behavior.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs + injection and tank clean and rustfree
After you suck up the seafoam thru the vac line, and then start it after 10 minutes; a word of warning-itl smoke like a cheap hooker for like 15 minutes. Repeat it a couple of times just to b sure.
IRONIVIAN<seafoam that bitch and call it a day! jus did it to my 92 gt that had been sittin for 2 years. After i initailly got it runnin;after crankin, die, crankin, sputtrin,For 5 minutes, It would level out and drive fine. Park it, and then try to start it tha next day, and the process would repeat again. for like a week. I swapt cts, injectors, distibutor, with my turbo car to no avail. Bought Seafoam, sucked bout a cup up thru vaccum line, let sit 10 minutes, then started it. starts a1 daily
I replaced the thermo valve & that fixed the idle problem. Now the RPM's don't go up and down like crazy anymore; however, it still shuts off on me during very cold winter mornings ! but after that it's fine the rest of the day.
The problem isn't something at all with your car. It's in the programming of the computer. I had exactly the same thing in mine. Back at the time I bought a Superchips chip for the car which, besides doing all the performance things it claimed *also* fixed the cold start problem. Get one if you can find one. Well worth it. The way the car suddenly has an increase in power at 4000 rpm will be also gone. More torque down low, power up high .
Its the cold start valve, full of shit and dirty can be blocked of or cleaned out and the irratic idle will stop. its located on top of the inlet manifold. pull it off and have a look mate.
My brother's '98 Ford F-150 had trouble starting cold, he would keep his foot on the throttle until the engine heated up a bit otherwise it would stall.
It also could be air flow through the engine and exhaust. Don't rev it hard when it's really cold. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it if it's fine the rest of the day.
My old Jeep did the same thing, New plugs and wires. If not that I would check the fuel filter and the pump. The fuel could be freezing due to water in the line. All of this happened to my Jeep, and I replacedit all and then it ran fine.
that looks like an idle air control valve problem.

This may even be an idle position sensor failing.
My brother's '98 Ford F-150 had trouble starting cold, he would keep his foot on the throttle until the engine heated up a bit otherwise it would stall.
Hope you got your car fixed.

That's what I was thinking, that maybe I need some new spark plugs and wires. I will start with that and see if it helps. Thanks for the feed back!
