  • oh COME ON... no 69s?

  • David Tennant can't hula hoop haha!

  • it's obvious. he drew the circle on while he's holding it. :P

  • wow that card thing is so fake.

  • 10.At 9:35 and 9:54 Paul is standing FACE to the audience. He then pretends 2 read his lottery ticket as if it was already printed on it but IT IS NOTand the AUDIENCE IS FACE 2 him so that they cant see that the ticket doesnt have their numbers on.He's just saying out loud the numbers and at 9:51 when u see the numbers on the ticket, its just editing that they did after the show... AND THAT'S HOW I THINK DERREN BROWN DID IT !

  • @Sano22n nice :]

  • @Asthaar8 lol seriously, i have no idea how it was done unless that explanation

  • 4. Paul just need 2 remember every1's ball number

5.At 4:35 Derren is giving the envellopes 2 Paul.

6.At 4:51, 4:57and 5:15 Paul is clearly writting something on the envellopes. He's writting every1's numbers.

7.Then Derren takes the envelopes from his hands and pretend 2 write on it but he isn't because the numbers r already written by Paul.

    8.And thats how its done!

9.Now 4 their name tags I dont know how it was done

  • Yo, I think I know how it's done...

1.The guy in the middle ( Paul ) is a stooge.

    2. At 3:26, when they r asked 2 pick a ball, every ball has nothing inside them n of course no lottery ticket.

2.At 3:37 when they r switching their balls, ( I suppose cuz we dont see r cant see it ) Paul da stooge is replacing another ball from his pocket 4 the 1 that has a ticket inside.

3.Then, after they have written their number on the ball, they r asked 2 show it 2 the others at 4:19. See Next Comment

  • its so tru im always thinking stragistics

  • FAKE!!!!!!!! look at 0:12 sec you can see that at one moment dart disappears and changes trajectory and flying angle. i don't believe in any trick they made before and after. ...........Every body lies......... i better watch M.D. House :D

  • @pasists And if that is indeed the case the the "other" dart would still have to have been thrown accurately enough for this to happen as show to the viewer or indeed what made the dart / trajectory change, was there a fat professional dart player hiding somewhere that might have been able to pull this stunt off

  • @computersolutions164 I hate to say it as I'm a huge D.B fan, but if you use another kind of player and slow it down, you can clearly see it jolt.

  • @pasists Thats actually a easy one. Magnetism. There is a industrial magnet behind the wall that actracts the dart to the exact point.

  • @pasists no, darts do that, throw a dart try it out at different power and see, darts are designed to curve like that. its called gravity btw

  • i wish i was stuck in a room for 30 minutes with david tennant ;)

  • @Sezthemouse Me too, but probably not for the same reason. :P

  • Some tricks are real, some tricks are staged to look real.

  • The lottery thing was staged 100%. Even if he reads them like open books he can't know the exact numbers they picked.

  • @KaLNFoRc3R Ok clever clogs, there is no doubt there is a trick going on here somewhere, but can you see it, can you work it out. Some people say it was

"split screen", others say there was a delay, such that the lottery result you saw was not exactly "live" in the true sense of the word. Yet we saw both channels broadcast simultaneously. The clue I guess is that Derren had a meeting with Camelot in order to produce this stunt, so obviously that meeting provided the "help" Derren required.

  • @computersolutions164 He wasn't talking about THAT lottery.

  • @KaLNFoRc3R Or, you know, he could force them to pick the numbers that he wanted and make them fit their own lives, because he's always been that good.

  • It seems like the dart may have been pulled to the board as it was in flight by a thin string, like a fishing line, held by a stagehand on the other side of the wall. The string was probably threaded through the board at that exact point. The hole for the string would be either too small to see or destroyed when the dart hit the same spot, and it's a simple matter of cutting the string before she takes the card and dart away.

  • Just a hint folks but have a look at how the cards are arranged on the card wall

Alternate red and black and a picture card in every 5th position, creating diagonal picture card "stripes" Now I don't know much about the mathematics behind the trajectory of a dart in flight, but I bet you this has got something to do with it.

  • I think I know who's behind the Saw mask .. that guy who rides the bike! : O

  • Croyances limitantes, superstitions, excellente vidéo!

  • what the fuck @ 6:16 or 6:17 deren was supposed to be writing a number right? but wth he just scribbled something and you can see at 6:16 - 6:18 its just some scribbles ... there must something else to this

  • The dart thing was either real, which is what I hope it was, or they just kept taping her until she hit a card, and then they did the old seen and wrote the circle on the back, etc.

  • HOLY FUCK!!! I WANNA WIN TOO :DDD

  • Could that dart game somehow be a magnet? What do you thing?

  • holy shit he is the smartest human being on Earth

  • derren brown is brilliant

  • time machine! That is how he does it

  • "your girlfriend's number is 52"? - "yeah" :D

  • poker player xD

  • he is devil...

  • its unfair cause the writing on the wall is so far back from all the items and their area

  • yeah, but that's exactly the point. it's quite far back, but still in plain sight. If anybody would move away from the items and look, they could see it. But you can bet that they won't, since they automatically establish a link between the items, their behaviour and die board with the numbers.

  • Not unfair. If they had just stopped for a second and stopped doing anything and just looked at the screen, they'd see it would increment for random reasons... Meaning it's not something they were doing that affected it.

Once that had happened, people would relax more and most likely go explore the rest of the room randomly as well.

  • OMG DT playing on a bouncy bunny!

  • I think derren brown can see the future. It would explain everything he does.

  • Or psychology, tricking the mind, and also some fake sketches possibly, could be the explanation.

  • Oh yeah,right,see the future...how obvious!

and silly me was looking for the techniques all the time!

  • Hate the editing of this series, I was watching the until 100 points expirement and are forced to see other thing and wait to continue to whatch the experiment! the editor is ruining all the action of the firts expirement! Still Derren you are a genius!

  • Wait.. They weren't suppose to show the numbers to them right? but then how did they get in order. I heard them whispering, meaning they told them their number.

  • they were allowed to show each other their number. just not the camera, or derren

  • This is bloody amazing.

  • y r u tht sad i like derren brown but y do it all in 10 mins to long to watch!!!!

  • Do you have a short attention span then by any chance ?

  • yes i do it ok upm to like 6 mins then its borin :P

  • lmao i didnt know what the heck Giddo444 was talking about i couldwatch derren for 10 HOURS! shoo lol... he must have ADD or something. anyways this is amazing MUST GO TO PART 3!

  • win! or nim! lol

  • What. The.

    How?

  • choose a number between 1 and 49. Bald feller chooses 52 -.- Derren still got it though! 'Its me girlfrens lucky number' noob!

  • noob. they switched balls...

  • yh so u dont np who ppiked wat u idiot

  • I love David..but they look so stupid! lol

  • if you notice, the dart goes out of view for a good half second, maybe something from out of view grabs the dart, and another one is shot at the card from a machine

  • It's pretty obv. that there was some invisible string attached to the dart that was taut and then got sucked up to land where it did. The good part though is how he got her to choose queen of hearts through suggestion.

  • don't you think that might be a bit of a far-fetched solution in terms of accuaracy even dangling from an invisible string.

Sure there might not be another explanation ?

  • I think the dart was pulled quickly towards the card with the string being placed through the card from behind the card wall. Notice when the dart hits the top of its arc how it almost accelerates directly into the wall. Then it was detached or whatever. I notice that there seems to be a really simple totally fake element to many stunts which is often overlooked because there is a more "true" trick in the whole scheme of things, such as making her select the card she did in the first place.

  • Don't forget she could have chosen any card, although most girls will nearly always choose are card from the "HEARTS SUITE", if given a free choice. Even with a string attached it would still be quite difficult to do in one take. There must be a simpler explanation

  • the explanation is that it was a coincidence, and according to The System episode he could have done it in a 14.8 billion takes? :P

  • @computersolutions164

    1. the card that the girl aims to hit is not random but actually one subliminally suggested by derren.

    2. on the other side of the wall (which should be very thin) is a very strong electromagnet, placed against the card, and turned on just as the dart is thrown.

even if 1. is false, all you need is a mirror arrangement of cards on the other side of the wall, the magnet is then moved to the card that the girl named as her target before she throws.

  • @supereg0tist It would have to be a strong and therefor large electromagnet, you are talking about physics and "point force attraction", You might be able to do it with a neodynium permanent magnet as they are small and strong, you

The magnet idea is plausable but I think it is more obvious than that

  • @computersolutions164

If the trick was indeed performed with magnets then a few things should be true

The force should be felt over a relatively large area, or the flight of the dart would be unrealistic, but the subject should not feel anything odd until the dart is in free flight. That necessitates something that can be turned on and off.

  • @computersolutions164

I don't think the size of the magnet is an issue. The shape of the field can be fairly complex and well controlled, say 2 parts - big magnet to control the dart from afar & small to guide it precisely from close up - a permanent magnet if you like, but again, you can get a strong, pointlike field with an electromagnet. For cylindrical magnet, permanent of otherwise the attraction is strongest at the tip and weakest at the center. put it along the axis of flight

  • @computersolutions164

Not that i think IT HAD to be magnets - he could achieve the same effect by making the girl throw it somewhere, really doesn't matter. Placing the dart correctly, and using a suggestion to forget anything happened. Then simply editing the video to make it look real to the viewer using any number of techniques from CG to reversing the video of the dart being pulled out of the wall by a string. Though I don't think that would be as "fun" for derren or for us.

  • @supereg0tist Magnet sounds good. Look at the flight of the dart; it's horrible, wobbly and slow. It would have to be somehow attracted to the bar for it to even stick in...

  • @bduddy55555 Noit even a Neodynium magent would work from that distance without some sort of line of similar attached to the dart . I think it is much more obvious as any Derren afficinado will tell you. Derren picks a female knowing she will pick Hearts or Diamonds. Females tend to pick Hearts for some reason.

So it would not be difficult to "Force" that card. If you do not play darts, you can make a dart fly wobbly - i've done it myself, by chucking it rather than aiming it.

  • i aggrees wiv comp it isnt obv (im not sayin it not true) but i mean the card and dart come out of the board easy

  • Is the "The doors unlock after five minutes, walk out to win £150,000" super-imposed? Can't BELIEVE that none of them looked at the ceiling, i lol'd for AGES

  • if anyone believes this is real (queen of hearts, dart...) is a retarded moron .... :)

  • Why is that then ?

  • I understand how he can use NLP and suggestions to make her choose the queen, but how does he give her the skill to hit it ?

  • What is the tune that plays in the background around the 1:55 mark?

  • could it vbeen a real strong magnet behind the cards?

  • it woyuld have to be a bloody strong magnet given the velocity of the dart and the point suerface area or the tip of the dart. The accelaratrion due to gravity of the dart would be too fast for a SMALL magnet to influence its flight path. Mythbusters tried it with a bullet and the magnet ended up being quite large.

  • hey do u know a channel on youtube that has mythbusters episodes?

  • Not as yet but I could put a few up for you

I don't think the Discovery webshite has any actual episodes but I will see what I can do.

  • @computersolutions164

Not that strong: Difference in velocity impotant - it changes the length of time the force can act on an object. The dart is only going a few m/s vs a bullet at hundreds of m/s. Eg. force of gravity on two objects of same mass, thrown at a wall 10m away. Obj. A has velocity of 10m/s traversing the distance in 1sec Obj. B has velocity of 100m/s traversing the distance in .1sec Gravity accelerates at 9.8m/sec^2. A drops by 9.8*(1^2)/2=4.9m B drops by 9.8*(.1^2)/2 = .049m

  • "something to do with you mum.. you big softie" lol!

  • I think it is true that part of the reason humans are prone to believe in superstition is because we want to feel like we have some sort of control over random occurrences. But I wonder if there isn't some sort of behavioral/evolutionary reason as well. Don't know what it would be though. :-) Thanks for posting.

  • There might be sopmething in what you say there - good comment

  • Well indeed - Skinner for example (the guy whose experiment the episode is based on) did a lot of work investigating operant conditioning - when an action is accompanied closely in time and in a reliable pattern with a reward, we perform the action more often. The overapplication of this evolutionarily adaptive behaviour to situations where our actions dont affect the presence of an award, results in what Derren calls "superstition." It isn't adaptive in itself -its just failure of process thtis

  • @stperkin

it's because humans always look for patterns.

  • I reckon the balls must have subtle differences, so he can track where each one is

  • they might just of planned it in the first place?

  • Its difficult to see the red text isn't it -- derren

Now it makes sense doesnt it :)

  • He didn't use that line in this episode though.

  • Anyone notice that when Derren is handing out the balls, when he gets to the bloke who eventually "WINS" his thumbs point upwards, when he is handing out the rest histhumbs are pointing downwards, towards the bowl he is holding

  • i did, dint win tho :(

  • That's absolutely brilliant!

  • I wonder how many people will put those lottery numbers on tomorrow !!
