I've been using the Velleman $65 usbDMX with DMXCONTROL freeware. Have not found anything it cannot do, and everything is completely customizeable as far as controls are concerned. Very Great freeware- try it!

I am looking at doing my lighting through a computer program as well and have been looking at what to get.. Also I am wondering if I could run serato and the lighting program at the same time off my mac..

Very good info! It was a toss up for me whether to use Chauvet Show Express or MyDMX. I went with MyDMX but this seems just was affortable, and comparable to it. I always like your vids! Keep them coming! ~Bo~

Yeah. LightJockey is around $1200, but I did alot better.

LEDtrix, the manager and all of the other features are what make it valuable.

I can also run 2 DMX universes with my dongle.

Transparent cues are the best thing with LJ. Nothing comes close to it.

you get transparent cues with show express as well. I should look into LJ just to check it out.

True, but LJ allows you to have cue slots. It allows you to change single attributes. I'm not talking just color, I'm talking being able to independently control red, green and blue (as an example) with pre-programmed macros. I'm going to be doing some pretty intense programming, and you should see it in a later video, either from me or from RRollergod.

The cheapest way to go is a 60 dollar OPEN DMX USB from Enttec and Freestyler software which is free. I am still learning the program but for a total cost of $60 USD it can't be beat.
