This is EXACTLY how the beer store near my house works. But not all of them are like this They have a sort of "menu" of all the different beers on the wall, like at a fast-food place. Heh. Canada.
I love the Beer Store! So many memories of going to this era of Beer Store with my father back in the day. I still love the Beer Store now but these were the days.
For those who haven't been to Ontario, these Soviet-style "Beer Stores" are still around. The ALCB wasn't much better. The selection was minimal and for some reason you had buy the beer warm (?). Even today after privatization, the Alberta government regulates all alcohol distribution and, while they allow supermarkets to sell liquor, you have to walk across the parking lot to a separate building. Just in case. God Bless America.
Geeze, you'd think the government didn't trust their citizens to be able to go into a normal store and shop for their own booze! The indignity of it all! lol
A group of retirees protested outside of the Molson Brewery facility in St. John's after the company said it was cutting the amount of free beer they get as part of their pension plan.
Molson pensioners used to receive six dozen beer per month as part of their benefits package. That has now been cut to one dozen per month according to a letter sent to employees across the country. The allocation will be dropped altogether in five years.
Ha gotta love the Yukon gold, it's a real beer brand made by the Yukon brewing company. Elsinore however was fake. Either way, now I want a damn beer!!!
There are liquor stores on every corner in Alberta. Ontario is way behind the times eh. What's an Ontarian hoser supposed to do after 5 P.M. on a Sunday night eh?
Lol the beer store where i live is exactly like that 2!! XD

I miss Ontario beer stores! The clattering sound of the conveyer belt, the signal of partying to come. That, and the tomatoes. And corn.
therealchella 3 years ago
Only Ontario is it like that. Because they have the most strict liquor laws in the country.
shithead486 3 years ago
Are liquor stores in Canada really like that?
babymoondancer 3 years ago
Yeah, pretty much! You have to go to this place that looks like a cross between a bank and a factory and your beer comes out on a conveyer belt!

We have Liquor Stores (LCBO) and Beer Stores.
The one in this scene is a Beer Store. And it's actually called "Beer Store."
Beauty, eh?
roboshuffle 3 years ago 2
I've only seen it like this in Ontario. BC and Alberta are not like this at all.
Maxmulham 3 years ago
Alberta used to be that way when we had the ALCB. But then alcohol sales were privatized and now there's Mom & Pop booze stores everywhere.
