@98LuverCat yes it took at least a year + for the feral to come around, this video was about 3 years in the making. He use to run when I would get close but eventually he realized I was not going to harm him. The feral jumps out the window when he gets tired of the orange chasing him. He will hiss at him time to time but the orange does not get it and keeps harassing him
@mealanakila Oh, :) Funny though :D My grand mother took in a wild cat (an orange on) who ran and stuff like that and now he's comfortable with them but not anybody else ;P He's cute though :3
@98LuverCat Yes, exactly, he is the best cat ever and I've had a lot of them in the past but I am really the only one that can really enjoy who he is and I am the only one he trust. I was teaching him slowing to be picked up and got scratches everywhere. I started at the sitting down position and put him in my lap (more thicker clothes) after I was squatting so it is a process for every little step. I know your grandmother just absolutely loves him.
@MopsusHears I think it is worth the years. I was lucky this feral wasn't a bully like I've seen out there. I think the most difficult case may be the ferals that do NOT meow, just hiss and spit. These ferals come from ferals (do not meow as well) and so on. Ferals that meow either were domestic at one time or came from at least one domestic parents (generations). This other feral did not meow and when he was fixed, he never came back. see Youtube qy8eBo9YtGs TNR
@mashhh If you watch their back paws, this is where all their power is. They typically can scratch open the stomach of the other cat. I was lucky enough the feral (after being neutered) didn't mind the stray. The feral didn't like humans at the time we met.
@TheWolfchick1 yes, it has taken about 2.5+ years to get to this point. Gray cat after being around for 1.75 years started to get closer and closer but wouldn't bother with any of us. by 3 they were at this point. There was only one thing I couldn't do with the gray cat is pick him up.
@TheWolfchick1 yes they are, it took couple of years for them to get to know each other to play, surprisingly the semi feral gives up and takes off outside first.
@WeThePeopleRleaders funny thing about the back foot, when I play with the orange cat (Tanji [an is like on -T-on-gi ]) if anything is under his back foot, it something moves he attacks it. When he is holding down his prey (toy) he has it under his back foot and looks elsewhere until it moves.
LOVE the video! Tanji is gorgeous. I love his(her?) fluffy tail. It's nice to see them play fight. Each taking turns dominating @:50....I have a small feral family I take care of. A mom cat and her 4 kittens, and now one of the kittens had a litter of 4 so now we got them to deal with as soon as they are weaned from mommy. I wish I could catch them but they run whenever we get close....
Just for your clarification, A feral wouldn't let you near it. A true feral I mean. Maybe over time if they can be domesticated, but it would take ages as you said. 3 yrs is a long time. It's a shame shelters cannot cater to care for ferals for years and years with no guarantee they will get any better. Usually if it's really feral, it will always be, especially adults, kittens are trainable which is good. Sorry to blab on! Nice vid =)
Feral Cat: descended from domestic cats but are born and live without human contact. They are not to be confused with wild cats or stray cats (alley cats). Wild cats are descendants of wild species. Stray cats are homeless descendants of domestic cats, but unlike feral cats, have had prior contact with humans and therefore exhibit temperament similar to that of a domestic cat.
feral cats are born in the wild stray cats are abandoned bye there owners no where left to go but nice video i was just trying to clear things up for the viewers so u wouldnt get in more bad comments
@PEARL445 thanks Pearl. Added a little history, I just don't think people realize it takes years to semi tame a feral. I was in the process of getting him use to being picked up, so I got scratched up everywhere but he was getting better until the owner of the house wanted to move back in. Now he takes care of the feral and has taken him just about a year to let him pet him. Thanks
Thank you doctormega, I understand what you're talking about now. At my work there are lots of feral cats, when I was taking out the garbage and saw one of them, I gently approached it while keeping my distance, slowly stuck my hand out but it ran away. I even rescued one that fell in the dumpster while being blown from the heavy wind. My boss told me that the cats are wild and that they live in the barn in the market.
Is this just a game between them two ? Cause it doesn't look as if theyr'e fighting in anger, but for fun xD Cool music ;P

What is the difference between a feral cat and a stray cat?
lisababy4lyfe 2 years ago
stray means somebody lost or dumped it. feral pretty much means wild.
