  • the mac.

  • Oh Oh Oh I wish SO SO much I had my time over again. I was 17 in 1984 and I wish I'd followed the trial of the music I felt instead of staying put. My advice to you kids out there....go get it!

  • Excellent performance.

  • Duran Duran, Spandau Balet, Human League. Then came The Bunnymen. Thank you God!!!!!!!!!!!! chilling1

  • je les adore ces hommes lapins et ils me rappelle tellement de bons souvenirs et en plus je les ai vu en1984 aux arenes de Mt de Marsan !!!! super

  • One of the great unsung rhythm sections ever. Fantastic.

  • the music sounds like the jam so much in this song

  • The Doors called. They want their song back. Oh, wait a minute.... hehe

  • They actually never wanted to be like U2. Same as The Chameleons. Didn't want to sell out.

  • SLC 1984, Echo and the Bunnymen, Billy Bragg, and The Fleshtones. Blew my ninth grade mind.

  • EPIC! Bloody unbeatable!

  • Lay down thy raincoat and groove!!!

  • @daegrant thank you, I have the book on order.

  • light my fire (yeah the doors influence)

  • I like apples and I like oranges....I choose not to elevate one above the other in my refrigerator for I like to have one or the other at different times.

    Great vid...thanks for the upload!

  • @4:11 What's this digression about? Who's only three foot tall? @4:30 "They got their brains in their tattoos"?

  • @DSCH4 It's about the overzealous bouncers - it's described in Tony Fletcher's recommended book on the Bunnymen "Never Stop"

  • Wow, this is great! ...I only knew the cover album by Kelly Stoltz (which i highly recommend)

  • Tremendous rithm engine (Bass + Drum)!

Less and Pete, what a couple!

  • come on maybe maybe not

    good year for the roses

  • bassline is mad crowd is mental wish i was there !!!

  • I think the thing is ... and I like the Bunnymen alot ... they didn't write any real classics ... no love will tear us apart for example ... U2 altho I'm not a huge fan, I have to admit, wrote a ton of classic songs ... just the way it is ... The Cure are huge for that same reason and I'm not really a fan of them either, Bunnymen are great tho, don't get me wrong

  • Okay, so Ian is dancing, smoking, and drinking while the song is going on, they managed to turn an almost 3 minute song to almost 7 minutes, they add extra lines and parts to the song, and they tie in a classic Doors song, and it still sounds AMAZING?! Wow, if that's not talent I don't know what is! Best performance ever! :D

  • Take us back to the eighties.

  • really great band! today i listen crocodiles album....

  • cmon baby light my fire! wow hes so great!! And the cover they did of PAS fucken amazing!

  • What a legend Ian Mac is, Used to see him round Liverpool city centre all the time in his Donkey jacket!

  • cheers!!!

  • i read it in a magazine ...

    still sounds as good !

  • The greatest band ever. I know, you know.

  • No dermot51 there hasn't!!!! Best rhythym section ever - so locked into a groove. RIP Pete De Freitas :-(

  • IT IS ALLIGATOR SHOES!!!!!!!

  • agh! i want to take a time machine back to this year and tell ian to PUT AWAY THE GODDAMN CIGARETTE. it ruined one of the greatest voices in rock...

  • @heaventree22

ruined one of the greatest voices? Saw him a few days ago in the ab in brussels, his voice was still very nice...

  • I was There 1n 1983 and again in 2008

I was embaressed to be there

1983 was the year of the bunnymen

  • I think they are quite a different band than U2. U2 betrayed new wave.

  • Albert Hall shoes? I thought it was "alligator shoes"...?

  • @jehouse

It is alligator shoes, Mac changed it to Albert Hall shoes as a reference to the venue.

  • has a rhythm section ever been this good before or since

  • Cheers for uploading, best band of the 80s

  • This band had an influence to one of the best bands of today LCD Soundsystem. Or maybe they all just know how to muther scratching rock?

  • lol just attended a sold out show!never stop !thnx for posting5*****.R.

  • class act! i have heard people say that the likes of interpol have a similar sound to joy division, its obvious that they sound more like echo and the bunnymen

  • Grandesssss!!!!!

  • Still amazing after all those years...with a voice like that and the best drummer ever Pete de Freitas, the party and the blues is complete. Thanks for the upload.

  • Fantastic!

  • Saw them doing a concert on Directv this week. I was hoping they would play Crocodiles, but didn't. They still put on a hell of a great show though in thier Albert Hall shoes!

  • i saw these awesome fellas in newcastle a few month ago.. they were outsanding, yet the academy wasn't full... people these days simply dont appreciate good music...a shame but mcCulloch and co. still go on in style...

  • How was Ian's voice? I understand that smoking has taken its toll on his chords. I haven't seen them live since 1984.

They should have been bigger than the cure and U2.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Bunnymen had the most underrated rhythm section ever,

This is the band at the height of their powers.

  • Genius! The Bunnymen have been around for over 30 years and yes, they still rock and record great albums!

  • gotta see the creeps crawl... I got my crocodiles! ! !

  • wher te hell have you been

i/ve been waiting with my best suit on?

  • Man Ian is still up and singing...

  • Though I love these guys, Ian kinda punched my friend's girlfriend at a show in Toronto in the late 1990's. Is that possible?

  • And why did he do that? lol

  • Rimmel 65 - Right as usual!!

This band is the best, the coolest, and the most talented. Case closed.

  • sorry re spelling on last comment. I want to say that i think bands like this in the 80's influenced me (& millions of others) for what i like today, the dj's&producers that go out of their way to choose the best tunes, and sample all these little things. i listen to dance tunes now and say 'whoa thats a sample from talking heads or whatever...' ian had the same ethic with his sampling of patti smith , the doors etc. they were the up there in the 80s & not 'commercial/cheesey'. feel the love x

  • I was here for this gig and the cure all in the same week, it was soundwves for greenpeace, in the albert hall - it was like a dream really looking back, i remember thinking 'it doenst get better than this' i still apprecaite it even though my music tastes have moved on. i am privileged to haev seen acts liek this and th esmiths when i was a teenager

  • Amazing performance!

  • Damn good band. Saw them in Manchester mid 80's. Don't know why they were never bigger than U2, better band by far.

  • @IvorRash Have a word with yourself lol

  • @IvorRash Simple.....they DIDNT....want tobe them wankers!

  • @IvorRash

They aren't a mass appeal type of band and who would have wanted them to become such a popular mass crap band like U2? They likely never produce the kind of music they brought to us.

  • @IvorRash i asked bono why they were bigger than echo and he said they were just a bunch of thieving scouse bastards ...there you go not my words bono's

  • @geoffdoor Wait...was he calling himself and the band thieving scouse bastards or Echo and the Bunnymen?

  • @bookwormgal1996 he was calling people from huyton thieving scouse bastards well they are really aren't they

  • lets face it,, Butlins have acts on that are better than fuckin u2

  • I'll see you in hell then.

  • can any any one tell what effects and shit

that wills using on his guitar.

like in general not just in this song

it would be a great help cheers

  • I know in around 1980-81 Will was using a Fender Dual Showman Amp and old Yamaha analog delay with some Electro Harmonix pedals. Around this time he had a custom pedalboard . IIRC he might be using a roland space echo here with some rack digital delay from the board and custom made overdrive and fuzz. His guitar sound here was more raw than the chimey spindly sound of 1980-81. The black Telecaster was to go through a makeover with bigsby and art work about a year later. He still owns the Tele.

  • Bono couldn't tie Ian Curtis's shoes . But he would tell you he wore them .

  • What a comment! It's very meaningful in a strange way.

  • @witchever99 Ye know, I worked bunnytours, incredible, have seen them so many times, and it was a religious experience every time. You are right, they should have made it as big as U2, Bono himself said that. He said the bunnymen were the cannon of great bands, and how to play live, I agree, I have seen U2 43 times. About Ian Curtis, Bono has also stated, he would gladly bow down and kiss his shoes. He paid homage to him in the song "a Day without me". More than once praised Ian, calling him #1.

  • @witchever99 - Bollocks you speak

  • Mac was always cooler than Bono, or anyone for that matter.

I WAS AT THIS SHOW AT RAH.

  • Just DON'T ruin it by watching Bring on the Dancing Horses after seeing this one. They got really awful towards the end, sadly...

  • Great Live Perforemce

  • what a v oice what a song....learn people....

  • Yet another site that mentions U2 & frikken Bono.I've met Ian,sound bloke.I asked him what 'ugly type of beauty' means (you must have heard him sing it) & he said Bono without the beauty.,..

  • bunnymen were, are and will be the coolest of all!

  • Ya Google it! Bono said "Ian was always cooler than me"

  • Man I used to idolize those guys, anything Ian said!

"hey, what you doing today? I'm gonna do it tomorrow" That was me! love it

  • U2 was realy blown away by The Bunny's. Bono once commented to Courtny Love.."Ian was always cooler than me.

  • Don't remember Bono saying that, but when I saw the cover of Crocodiles for the first time; they're ALL way cooler than Bono!

  • amazing!!!!!

  • HIS VOICE IS AMAZING IN THIS!!!!!

  • you're OK! Ian is spectacular!!

  • These are all really great!!

  • i loved the ian's dance :B OMG i love him. i dicovered them a year ago, and they become my favourite band (L).

  • He´s awesome!!!! >=P

  • i just love Ian's improvisational lyrics! Cannot wait to see them at RAH!

  • Absolutely - the BEST band on the planet. - can't wait for new CD Fountain and the RAH 83 concert on CD at the end of sept...whopeeee!!!

love this band!!! Never never never stop!

  • GREAT!

  • I guess they scrapped Pete's kit after this gig? It must have been in bits after such a serious hammering! John Bonham would be proud :-)

  • Incredible crowd - saw them 4 years ago, among an audience of f i f t e e n, playing Killing Moon twice.

  • Will Sargent was and is so so underrated. A gem.

  • proof

  • this whole gig is just cracking

  • gotta love Echo and the Bunnymen

  • My favorite song by them off their best album! I wish I had a time capsule to be at this show. Thanks for posting.

  • I am getting this whole concert from Bitorrent. I remember recording it from satellite Pay TV here in Australia on "Channel V" however I bloody well have lost the tape or recorded over the VHS tape with something else.

  • Thank you from me as well! I am thoroughly enjoying these.

  • These are all really great!!

    Thanks for upping them :-)

  • "Lay down thy raincoat. And groove."

  • My pleasure.
