Im on a pc and when i watch AVGN (angry video game nerd) videos i always get near the end a bunch of distorted pixels not on youtube and my cpu gets very hot which is why im finding a solution.
I agree that flash shouldn't make a computer get that hot, however, I also think the macbooks need better cooling...my new 27 inch i3 imac barely heats up...(and the cpu only goes to 15%) and yes i watched the same vid in hd...got to about 103 degrees F...flash games got it to 132 though...
This is awesome! I have had this overheating problem ever since installing SnowLeopard on my 18 month old MacBook Pro and I finally isolated it (with NO help from Apple) to the Flash Player. After watching this very easy to understand and very informative vid, I now think that a combination of Snow Leopard and Flash Player might be contributing the CPU problem.
Does someone try if the same happends with Windows at the same computer? I have the same macbook and the same problem. I'll try it XD. Btw, how do you get that health for that battery? I have 290 cycles and my battery health it is just 60%.
I'm not a Mac user but just bought a MacBook for my daughter the other day. Thanks for the great video, you explained it really well. Even on PC Flash doesn't always work on different browser. I like the MacBook may be I'll get one soon for myself :-)
Yes everytime i watch a youtube video or anything that is flash enabled my fans kick up and its impossible to hear the vid. Also the laptop gets hot after 5 mins of usage!
@mistermenphis22 Also you know whats funny this never happened until a recent update in the springtime of Flash. Before this the computer never got hot or turned its fans on!
I had similar problem, but removing flash plug-in solved all the issue!, now the other apps runs faster too (even the ones not using Flash components at all). so on my desktop I have both Flash installer and uninstaller handy, I just install the plug-in only when I needed it (then uninstall it after browsing the sites require the plug-in).
Flash is really bad on Linux too. Most videos have noticeable lag, and it's basically impossible to play fullscreen videos on youtube. I'm often forced to download videos and play them in an external player. I thought things would get better when they released the 64bit beta, but they haven't. Adobe needs to get their act together on non-Windows platforms. It would be even better if Youtube simply dumped flash for HTML5.
I think the only chance for a fix of this issue is to make it public that it is Adobe's Flash Player who causes this problem. It happens on all Macs, and Adobe has not been able to find a solution for this within 2 1/2 years.
Adobe has to make the move! Somehow they won't or can't...
ok watching video on my macbook pro 2007 model:

This is a great video - I've been fighting this issue on OS X for a long time now, and it's starting to look grim when it comes to winning...
