  • This just reminds me how much the PC sucked compared to Amiga, Mac, and the Atari ST.

  • Haha, thanks for uploading. I was around nine years old when my brother, aged 10, used to play these games back in the late 80s and I used to watch; I remember thinking Leisure Suit Larry was so scandalous and my brother had figured out a way to get past the knowledge questions at the beginning that were supposed to keep kids like him out, haha. I remember wondering why all these obviously sexy women liked an ugly guy like Larry!

  • King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, Laura Bow FTW

  • monkey islands, Quest for glory, and Leisure suit larry were my favorite games.

i still have them on floppy drives orginal and even some Cd's.

I believe games back then were more puzzle like and more edcuational instead of a Call of Duty Mordern Warfare game

  • Great stuff, but no Police Quest boxes or scenes?

  • quest for camelot? i used to play this game on my old computer where u were king arthur trying to find the holy grail

  • like if you were brought here by the she's topless picture

  • Most of the companies that are immediately recognizable have been around for decades even a century. Few of them are actually new.

But looks like that even great sounding names can disappear at one point. I never actually thought back in the 90s sierra would cease to exist one day.

  • sooo many memories ahhhhhhh

  • Its actually heros quest, and I still have that box. I use to listen to erranas peace theme song for so long in the game, just chillin to it. Along with welltris and kings quest, Heroes quest was one of my all time favs! FOR THE WOOT!!!! Many thx for the upload of this , thumbs up and favorited ^ o ^

  • I play on Sierra online red baron and a few other games that slip my mind now but there was one incredible game i play with many people was a awesome game back then and I have memories of it bits and pieces

  • if sierra games are now defunct then who owns the rights to all these games? and where can i buy them? IS IT ILLEGAL TO DOWN LOAD THEM FOR FREE AT THIS point in history?

  • Sierra needs to come out with some new King's Quest and Space Quest games, i think they would work beautifully on the wii

  • which is the porno games. hate it

  • i don't like sierra doing this! better with nascar racing

  • my favorite company and on my favorite computer the amiga

  • You forgot to include the police quest series

  • sierra was one of the best why did they sell out :(

  • @ColaStudios03 money i guess. The owners got 1,3 billion dollars for the company, the original staff got layed off or retired and sp sierra as we knew dissaperead.

  • Best game company ever. Why ken why did you sell out :(

  • Sierra, I love you.

  • I LOVE Sierra games, used to play them so much as a kid (am 30 now).

They helped in the crappy old teenage years :D

Sierra, the whole lot of you team are fantastic!

  • @froggy9191 Yeah, at 24 years of age people look at me sideways when I tell 'em I grew up playing Kings Quest 2 and Quest for Glory lol they have no idea what I'm talking about, SIERRA FTW

  • @froggy9191 Took the words right outta my mouth dude!

  • 3:20: Hail to the KING!

  • bass game to......

  • i rededicate this video to all the loyal sierra fans over the years :))))

    thanks for posting!

  • o wow, i had every one of these games growing up , these games were so so good. i even think 4:22 was the first tits i ever saw lmao. Personal fav is SQ3 and would play it again today... i think ima go download some now ! Thx for the vid!

  • Mir geht es wie vielen hier, diese Spiele versüßten meine Kindheit bzw. Jugend!

  • these were the best games ever! and Al Lowe is a legend!

  • Wow... that brought back memories! I remember playing those games on a Tandy 1000 HX and my Commodore Select Edition 286 for hours. Really enjoyed the King's Quest and Space Quest series. I still remember some of those tunes, too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  • I miss these games!!!

  • Annotations can be turned on/off using one of the buttons to the bottom right of the video.

  • Hey, is anyone has a link to download King's Quest 7? :(

  • Buy the kings quest collection on amazon it cums with all of them including 7

  • i have a rare prototype work disk for leisure suit larry 4 on atari st

  • there is no larry4

  • Pssht. That's what you think.

  • yes I know it.

  • do you really have a version of larry 4?

  • that made me fuckin' cry...

  • Como hecho de menos esos juegos...

  • What about Samus Aran?

  • This is amazing, thank you omgomg53!

  • Not sure if they're referring to a specific type of adventure game, but Metroid predated King's Quest with having a female protagonist...

  • Yes, Sierra was the major player during the heyday (80's and 90's) of the adventure game genre, the decline of which seemed to coincide with the rise of the next gen consoles. Adventure games, as the term is used here, are discussed at: en[dot]wikipedia[dot]org/wiki/Adventure_game

  • Hope it didn't sound like I was taking away from Sierra...I have lots of fond memories playing their games as a kid. Albeit sadly on friends' machines and not my own.

  • Female only in that after you played the game SHOCK you're female.

I wouldn't really call Samus a protagonist. She was just a vehicle for the player to control. Know what I mean? Now later Metroid games, those are a different story.

  • @TxGearhead Sorry but Metroid came out in 1985, Kings Quest I came out in 1984. So the information on this video is correct.

  • This is what Tribute video SHOULD be - well researched, lots of information and an obvious dedication to the subject. My hat is off to you omgomg53!!!

  • can somone tell me were 2 download torin's passage i played it as a kid and i want to play it again!plz?

  • Laura Bow?? Where is it? 1989, one of the best games in the history...

    Good compilation, omgomg53.

  • nice

  • Great compilation, much enjoyed. A lot of those screenies bought back some old memories for me, very nostalgic. I played and finished LSL 1, KQ 1&2&3, SQ 1&2. I played some of KQ4 but didn't finish and may have played a bit of some of the other sequels bu they pretty much lost my interest at that point. Ooooh, just realised, where is the Police Quest in here? I played and finished number one and two of that, one of my favorites.

    Thank you!

  • if you could name off the names of most of the games (except the kings quest series and space quest series cuz igot all of those) and where to possibly by or download them, i would be great full. i love the sierra rpgs and have been searching for more.

  • Go for the Leisure Suit Larry series. They're not hard to find on Google. They are really funny. Oh, and from the same creator, try Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist, one of my favorite game!

  • One minor thing, I think it would have been if the music was adjusted to fit the sound-systems available

(Example: PC SPEAKER renditions during the AGI pictures)

Would give it that extra bit of nostalgia.

  • These games were the best. Right up until Kings Quest V when they came out with the mouse interface. Real games made you think and type your commands.

  • The Homeworld series is awesome. Came a bit later than these games though, it seems...

  • Ditto

  • I liked the Police quest series and The Beast Within made my sierra, and Phantasmagoria also from Sierra,

  • Erana's Peace!!!

    Great Tribute!

  • Some great shots, and that MIDI music brought me back. Best time for video games definitely was '86-'96...

  • They don't make em like that anymore! The graphics and sound are better today but Sierra had something special.

  • what the hell is the name of the song where it shows the staff? the piano one?

    I GOTTA HAVE THAT.

  • Gabriel Knight Theme.

    Truly a classic masterpiece :)

  • Thanks, i totally agree with you there.

  • the day when ken quit and when the two guys from adromida splip, wilco and a bald eagle shed a tear

  • the day when ken quit and when the two guys from adromida splip, wilco and a bald eagle shed a tear

  • Not interested in the QFG series? That was my favorite. I don't recall a game for "Hero's Quest" that you could just wander about, fight random encounters, and make your own dialouge, and find your own adventures! What a game!

  • Torins Passage <33333

  • This takes me back. I love it, thank you for the video.

  • I miss old school adventure games. Quest for glory 1 was my fav.

  • WHAT!!! NO HALF-LIFE!!! (Yes, Sierra helped make Half-Life)

  • "Classic" Sierra games... Back when the William's were still in charge

  • Ohh...

  • btw - quick story: I've met the guy who did the voice of the computer in Half-Life (Hal Robbinson) - at a nudist colony no less. Heh.

  • I remember at a certain point in Space Quest IV when you were looking at the folders on an alien computer (I think, it's been a while), there was one called "Kings Quest 25 - The search for disk space".

    Genius!

  • I think that was King's Quest 40... but at any rate, the discount bin was just full of parodies and jokes on Sierra games, as well as old B-movies like 'they came from the desert' which was called 'they came for dessert' in the game! :D

And in all seriousness, I really wish that adventure games were popular enough to warrant making the game series that far, but alas, all good things have to come to an end.

  • I know what you mean, it's sad that the market has shifted so that point and click games are no longer "viable".

I do remember having the talkie version of SQIV, which made it even better. Best game in the discount bin was definitely Sim Sim, the simulator simulator game!

  • Awesome vid! I miss old 16 color games :( I hated when they changed the format from type-in to icons for look, talk, etc.

BTW, what is the purple game box after Laura Bow: The Dagger of Amon-Ra?

  • "BTW, what is the purple game box after Laura Bow: The Dagger of Amon-Ra?"

I believe that is one of the first King's Quest "Collector's Edition" Collections released.

  • I grew up playing Sierra games, starting with the original Space Quest. I owned every game shown except for the leisure suit larrys because the parents wouldn't let us play that crap at the time.

For a second, I thought you had forgotten Shadows of Darkness...fantastic series; especially part 2. The best part was being able to import your character between the games. I had a paladin who could cast every spell by the time I got to Shadows of Darkness 3.

    Awesome vid.

  • correction...Quest for Glory series. Shadows of Darkness was part 3 of the series.

  • correction...part 4...i'm all ate up

  • can't vote anything else than 5. good old days.. good old games. cheers

  • What a good video. It was a good time with the old games of Sierra-OnLine. I hope these days come again. The new Sierra-Games aren´t so good.

  • i want swat 2 again because i broke my disc anyone know where i can get it?

  • Thanks for the memories. I actually had most of those issues of Sierra/Dynamix/Interaction magazines. Don't know what happened to them.

  • i liked sierra's new games but when they bought crash and spyro they ruined those 2 games

  • I MEAN I LIKED SIERRA'S OLD GAMES

  • Bring back the old days!! Can't say i played stuff like kq, q4g or lsl but liked Ecoquest as a kid then found space quest and although it took me years to get hold of all 6 games i have them all and love them! surely there is still some market for great adventure games like this!!

  • Thank you for this, it brings alot of memories. I grew up during the 80's so Sierra was a highlight for me. We will never encounter another innocent time in gaming, that was the Golden Age. The magazines brought memories too wish I kept them. =(

  • All sierra cares about now is making dump cash in games like Scarface. The only Sierra game I play now is Swat 4 because its the only thing realated and of Sierras past work (police quest).

  • you can get all these great games at Mirc chat agent. server Efnet chatroom oldgames......be careful though the ops are cranky

  • Ohhhhhh...

    Memories.

    *sniff*

I wish games today could have the complex story arches like the old Sierra games. I would LOVE to see a Phantasmagoria... done in the same way like Silent Hill (although, SH is a good modern horror game in itself.)

  • loved these games.. Games with heart and story rather than "mind blowing graphics and sound" which can of course add to a game but never make the game..

  • We got a Tandy 1000 SX with a super fast Intel 8088 computer in 1986 or so when I was only a few years old. I learned to use one just to play these games on my own.

Back then we had King's Quest II and IV and Space Quest I and II. Over the years we had gotten many more Sierra games for other systems.

The end of Sierra On-Line marks the end of the golden era in PC gaming. It's a real shame.

  • Back when all it took was a talented married couple, a programming team of around 35 and two guys from Andromeda!! *sniff* miss that

  • Oh man! I LITERALLY learned how to use a computer by watching my uncle and my older brother play the old King's Quest and Space Quest games on DOS! Man, this brings back memories.

  • If not for the text parser Sierra games I might not type as quickly as I do! I miss these old games.....

  • I miss the Sierra games so much now.. Gaming has lost its charm. It used to be about adventure and storytelling. Now it comes down to shooting people over the internet and then calling them a "n00b."

  • that's exactly how I feel as well

  • That was a beautiful montage for Sierra and of it's people.

  • no police quest!?

  • Space Quest, King's Quest, & Leisure Suit Larry were pretty much the defining computer games of my youth/adolescence. This brought back many fond memories!

I rarely play games these days, but hope that there are new games out now that emulate the classic Sierra model.

  • I saw something in one of these comments that referred to the 2800 baud rate. Remember when the internet was just a bunch of bulletin boards. Back with the TI 99A. Seriously. My dad still has his as well as those BIG,LOUD Floppy drives. Of course, those came years later. I miss those days. come back Sierra!

  • heck my first modem was a 1200 baud, my first pc an 8088xt clone with ten mb hard drive and two floppies

  • Was kind of hoping for the famous Larry 1 line "Ken Sent Me". Al Lowe forever!

  • This is just fantastic! The good old days! They just don't make these classics anymore. Where can you get these adventure games now and if so will they run on current fast computers? I only played Larry, Pharkas and Quest for Glory 1, Police Quest 1. I want the rest of them!

  • I have KQ 1-3 on another computer and they run fine on fast computers. They use your comp's internal clock to time things, so processor speed doesn't matter. Sierra was thinking ahead, apparantly.

  • 1:20 - He loves it.

  • This made me feel quite emotional. Thank you the Sierra fan who made this. Thank you Sierra for the very special memories.

  • Freddy Pharkus.... I remember being the only kid on the block with that game.

  • Thanks for this, that was great. I especially loved the tribute to Gabriel Knight and Jane Jensen.

  • Salutes*

I favorited this not because it was F***ing Hilarious, or awesome but as a tribute, and I hope others will do the same.

  • Sierra- the only people who still play their games are hardcore gamers and maybe when I retire, I'll have a few more cracks at the Hero series. I want for them to rise again and I like their gaming styles to an extent. However, I must accept their popularity is declining in favor of *SPITS* World Of War craft

  • You are sorely missed Sierra Online. Perhaps in time you shall rise again, thanks to the efforts of true gaming fans. Do not go gentle into that good night... rage, rage against the dying of the light!

  • anyone ever play the original hero's quest? And how can you fit these old games to you screen?

  • I STILL play so you want to be a hero series. I always drop to DOS, (Command Prompt) and run it that way. Good luck! :)

  • dosbox

  • I know it's not an adventure game, but...

    Swat 3 was AWESOME!

  • Gabriel is the best!

  • my favorite quest for glory has to be 4. I remember alot of those games. I actually have the police quest collection and they are pretty fun. I can't find my quest for glory collection though :(

  • QFGV...just got it off EBay....great game to this day. Absolutely the best.

  • good ol times....

  • Needs more quest for glory :P

  • I understand it not making the cut, but "Codename: Iceman" was awesome! Actually, I loved all their games. I just wish people still made computer games with a plot....

  • I forgot about that game! A lot of fun! Always got stuck in the sub, though.

  • Some of the best times I can remember playing video games were from Sierra. Todays games just pale in comparison. Shame on you for your coverage of Quest for Glory!

  • my quest for glory is "hero's quest"

  • Aw, you spent so much time on Leisure Suit Larry, but just zipped through the box covers for QFG!? Oh, it breaks the heart... x__x

  • OMG this brings back some good childhood moments...I love these games!!!!

I remember Quest for Glory and all these other games helping me with some hard times.

  • I really wish I wasn't 1-3 when these games were made...

  • Yeah but you can still get some of these as they have been released again last year. =)

  • sigh , I think since a 3d engine was put into games , Sierra went downhill , just look at the last larry and , pity i never played quest for glory with sound , guess that there was something about midi that never convinced me . The good teenager years , while all my classmates were getting high , I was killing sauruses.

  • Please refer to the info at the right for more information regarding this video and the people pictured in it.

  • thank you for this great video.

  • nice video... so many memories. I can't believe there isn't any market for games like that anymore. If police quest, leisure suit larry or monkeys island would continue, I'd run to get it. Instead I haven't bought a game since larry7

  • nice video , but , quest for glory deserved a little bit more of attention

  • I agree about Quest for Glory. Indeed, I wish I could have included a lot more in the video, but I just ran out of time.

  • i've played every one except for leisure suit larry and freddy pharkas. they rule!

  • I remember this game

  • I've seen screenshots for the KQ4 VGA!! Go and write down King's Quest IV on google and then you find the screenshots!

  • does anyone remmeber TSN the sierra network? online @ 2800 baud to 5600 hahaha i was gangster @ some redbaron

  • Great video :) Just puzzles me where that last music was from?

  • I recognize that tune at the end of the video and I think it's from Hero's Quest (later renamed Quest for Glory).

  • Yep, it's the theme from Erana's Peace, the garden in Quest for Glory where, after you spend the night, your health and stamina are restored. Both the background art and music in this scene are really beautiful!

  • godbless... so nice to see this and all you fans on here

some of the greatest/fondest memories in my life from these games (:

  • Thank-you for making this, and a big thank-you to Sierra, for all of the many hours I spent playing "Space Quest" 1-6!

  • i loved these games! my four favorites were king's quest V, police quest III, king's quest VI, and conquests of the longbow!

  • Nice video, except I saw no Police Quest! That was one of their hottest game lines. Oh well, none the less nice video. They don't make games like they used to.

  • I miss the old days when great adventure games were being made with good stories and humor. Today's gaming market is overwhelmed with non-thinking button mashers. No one has any patience for a good story. Storytelling is an age old human tradition. I wish for some new stories.

  • Fantastic video. I grew up playing these games, and have great memories of them. I still have a Quest for Glory liscence plate and mousepad.

  • Wow! Where did you get the plate? And mousepad?? Those are definitely collector's items now.

  • This made me smile.

  • I have been a fan of Sierra since I was little the first Sierra game I ever played was Winnie the Pooh and the Hundred Acre Wood and I've been a big fan of the games ever since this is truly a great video!!! :)

  • THX THX THX. It's hard right now to avoid tears. I LOVED that games!!! AWESOME!!!!

  • i completely know what you mean. got to erana's peace, wanted to cry. it reminded me so much of times gone by.

thankyou sierra. thankyou to the fan who made this.

  • Hehe, I ran out of time for Police Quest and others...

  • Those were the days indeed :) Larry 1, Kings Quest 1, where was police quest?

  • Thanks for the comments. I would love to see some of the original designers get back into the interactive fiction genre.

  • Leisure Suit Larry rocks!!!

  • (sigh) I almost cry... Thank you, thank you, thank you Sierra, for all those years... And thank you omgomg53, that was a beautiful collage...

  • OMG! Wow, thanks for this! I loved the King's Quest games!
