Everytime when I am sad about mankind's cruelty, I find comfort in a piece like this. To listen to this epic beauty ensures me that there is good in people, how could such music exist otherwise?
6. Lacrimosa Lacrimosa dies illa, qua resurget ex favilla judicandus homo reus. Huic ergo parce, Deus, pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Amen. That day of tears and mourning, when from the ashes shall arise, all humanity to be judged. Spare us by your mercy, Lord, gentle Lord Jesus, grant them eternal rest. Amen.
5. Confutatis Confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus addictis, voca me cum benedictus. Oro supplex et acclinis, cor contritum quasi cinis, gere curam mei finis. When the accused are confounded, and doomed to flames of woe, call me among the blessed. I kneel with submissive heart, my contrition is like ashes, help me in my final condition.
@mihai198000 It is, 'cause it's no decision. If you are, you are born with it. And why does it matter for you, if an artist is gay or not - does it change his genius or his work? Idiot.
when i found out tchachovsky was a f-- i mean gay i had to rethink my attitude. von karajan was most certainly a nazi at one time but he certainly redeemed himself to say the least.
most scholars are only sure that the music from lacrisoma to homo reus were authorized by mozart himself and the rest was reconstructed by a few others. nevertheless it comes across as mozart. probably mozarts first drafts were reverently resurrected by devoted composers.
the great ideas never die, they are always brought back to life. mozart more than any other famous composer has inspired more people to wonder who or what is behind the scenes.
Okay, Callas was a bad singer, Karajan didn't know how to conduct, Mozart has too many notes and Tschaikovsky is kitsch: thanks God today we have so many know-it-better geniuses. And they're ALL on youtube, ready to share their knowlegde with us! What a lucky era we live in.
@Strophal On the other hand, here we're just lucky to be able to watch and listen to such beautiful performances that we wouldn't find anywhere else. Enjoy the beauty of this video and its music, don't let other people destroy such a big work of art. We all like different things, and we all find beauty in different pieces of art. This is a big piece of art, whoever doesn't like it shouldn't be wasting their time criticizing should go and watch something else instead.
Honestly, I don't understand why all of you like the performance its dated and lacks refinement. You should not preform mozart like it's from the Romantic! choir is far too big and isn't that good. A pity it's a beautiful piece of music.
@stefanbekedam I am all for "historically informed" performances, I buy them and listen to them, but there's more to life than that!!! Karajan's performances, in a way, explore the full potential of the works, which can clearly not be realized in the performences you are referring to. There's no need to "choose"! We can listen to both. And saying that a Karajan performance "lacks refinement" is unfortunate, to put it politely.
This isn't lacrimosa, i think this is confuntatis :/

@deja2057 Oh, so being Nazi is ok, as long as you redeem yourself. Being gay on the other hand, now that is unforgiveable.

@HERMIONExCANTxDRAW Well beeing gay is not a natural or a normal thing. But you can redeem yourself from that also.
