Learning flamenco and other styles like jazz and blues and introducing it to rock music. Thats where you get unique sound. bleeding genres together like that.

Tortured soul, a poet s best friend is the bottle. Poor Jim was heading downhill fast in 69 yet the Doors were so prolific over their 4 year reign. His friends should have gotten Jim some help with his drinking. But back then, it wasnt a big deal like it is now.

In the auto-biography (Riders on the Storn) written by John Densmore (the Doors drummer) he talks about the first time Robby used the glass bottle slide and how that Jim, Ray, Robby and himself loved it so much that they decided to actually use it for shows. This was of course before they started to hit the charts. But I guess it stuck! :)
