Awesome mom!!!!!!! I wish more mothers whatever race took time learning to care for their children's natural texture, just by the way you handle her hair you can tell the love, which shows in the finished style. Much love, and respect!!!
Katelynlyn..I came across your video by accident. Boy let me tell you that you are such a great mom. I know several caucasian with with "Bi racial" kids and they don't know anything about proper hair care for their kids hair. I've enjoyed watching. I'm so happy you learned about co-washing. I happy that you are sticking to Taliah Wajjid products. I'm so happy that you are you.
I know how to braid but my problem is keeping the hair close to the scalp, My daughter is mixed and I am trying to learn how to braid her hair but, When I wash it then get it seperated and start the three sections of the braid and try to tighten it ends up loose and not close to the scalp...Any tips?
you are super awesome. I have only been doing cornrows straight back or diagonal on my daughter's hair, but you make it so easy. I am gonna start with the criss-cross and see how it goes. We want to adopt a daughter too, so you are my superstar right now. I know it may be corny, but your love for your daughters is tangible in these videos. keep them coming.
Wow! I watched the video to learn how to cornrow because I try but can't get it. My fingers get in the way of each other. Im going to try your way and see if it's better. Now, off topic, I'm sure you've already heard this but, I was shocked at first to see that a white woman was putting cornrows in a black girl's hair. Reading the comments I learned that this was your daughter. I applaud you for taking the time to learn how to care for her hair. A lot of people out there are narrow-minded and I
I am a brand new subbie I am I lovin your work. My daughter is only 9 months and does not have enough hair but I have two nieces that I am going to try this style on...thanks for the videos of inspiration . I am looking forward to many more in this new year, by the way your kids are too cute and I can tell they love it when they get their hair done
Even though your method of braiding is not considered traditional like braiding with the fingertips, I believe it is actually better. I find that braiding the more traditional way is almost TOO tight, and your way seems like it doesnt put too much tension on the scalp but at the same time the hair still ends up very neat and tidy looking.. I actually wish I could learn to do them more like this and spare my daughters hair follicles..lol
@mrsjlong I was thinking the same thing. I braid with my finger tips and no matter how like a try my niece still complains about the pain and in this video your daugther didn't even flinch
wow i am truley amazed when i seen that you were of caucasian dscent braiding on a young girl of i believe african please correct me if im wrong... only because i've never seen it before. im happy that like alot of other people commented that u did not straighten there hair an took the time i imagin to learn of thier hair textures i will be subscribing...
I agree with the relaxed comments. i put a texturizer in my daughters hair and had to grow it out because it thinned her hair out and damaged it so bad. i am so glad I found this video. No more chemicals. i am going to practice using your videos and keep her natural. Thanks so much.
@ciarafalls123 - All my girls are really my daughters :) Two of them happen to be adopted and one of them isn't. We have a blog called Keep Me Curly. There is a link in the info above. Also we have a Keep Me Curly facebook page!
@Katelynylyn trueeee they are all your daughters!!!my sister and me are adopted and i hate it when people refer to her as not my real sister or my mom and pops not being my "real" parents!!
btw your worlk is awesome!!greetings from germany!!
I sometimes get the question: Is she yours or did u adopt her,,,,silly people!
But im loving ur effort on her hair :) So many just forget that they have to learn how to take care of hair like this and u see way too many"birdnest" hair walking around and i find it so sad coz i love the variety on african hair...i think it´s WAY more fun to play with :)
That is so pretty! I just wanted to say that I appreciate people like you. A lot of times I see a lot of black kids adopted by white families and they don't have a clue as to how to do their hair. You do an excellent job. Thank you!
that is just too cute!!...its nice to see that ppl of other race that adopt or foster black kids or what ever the case may be , actually take the time out to learn to do the kids hair properly instead of always trying to cut it off or perm it =]
Maybe I should try braiding with my fingertips, I always have a problem when cornrowing. it's hard for me to keep control -_- I end up grabbing pieces of hair that I don't want.
I've watched most of your videos and I think that all of your styles are just beautiful. I am more than impressed with the care that you've taken with your daughters' hair.
I am impressed! I was adopted when I was younger and I only wish my mother knew how to corn row. I hope B realizes just how fortunate she is:-). It will save her from tons of embarrassing wedding pictures when she is older.
i learned to bhraid beause i have a black stepdaughter and i am constantly told to braid with my finger tips but i can't do it either i do the same as you. i do wish i could be more creative but i'm not so you provide the ideas (even though i may not tell lol)
you are so awsaome. I am a hair dresser and i see adoptive parents come in all the time and their childrens hair looks horrible. I wish everyone would take the initiative to learn about their childrens hair instead of taking the cheap way out. You do fantastic work!!!
You are an amazing mother, the fact that you choose natural instead of a relax hair is amazing. I am a young lady with african american decent and I have always had natural hair so I know maintianing it is not easy. SO you get a A++++ from me
Wow you started braiding only 3 yrs ago ! I have never seen the heart design in my life ! Its amazing ! I wish I lived next door to you so we could be friends ;-)
I'm excited to try this style! I loved the tip on staying to the inside. I think that will make all the difference. And by the way, I did the Veil style last week and my daughter got a lot of compliments. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing i've been watching your vids for a while now and you are so creative u always give me ideas for my sons hair just to say thankyou - and hasn;t your daughter grown -- keep up the good work and thanks for sharging lol xx
You do such an amazing job with your daughters hair. I applaud you for taking the time to learn to care for her hair instead of just straightening it like many other people do. You are such a beautiful person. Thank you.
I have a two year old lil girl who has short hair in the back and long hair in the front. Do you have any recommendations for styling her hair so that it grows more? What products do you use? How often do you wash their hair? You can kinda see her hair length in my "Alyx in Color" video if that gives you a better idea. Sorry for all the questions but I see you've done a great job in your girls hair journeys.
Check out my video's "hair products we use" and "our hair routine". I think that will answer your questions :) Just go to my channel and you will see all my videos!

I cornrow the same way as you. And I cannot, for the life of me, learn the "right way". It seems so much faster :( oh well.
