I watched the show on hulu and you wouldn't believe some of the comments in the forum about the kiss. One guy was quoting scripture and talking about a gay agenda, rutting dogs and no morals. It's just a kiss, for god's sake! What a fruitcake.
I don't mind AT and SH rolemodeling us lesbians, but since the story is about people first and gender/species last.... it's STILL empowering. Go Sanctuary!!
the problem here is that everyone is trying to frame this in terms of sexual orientation and contrived gender stereotypes. asthetically this is one of the better screen kisses out there, regardless of whether the actors are male or female. AT wasn't akward, and this does go with the Sanctuary theme of acceptance of all things. In commentaries from S2 AT said she figured that Magnus probably has had female lovers...The point is that it's not about gender but about the person.
Why am I not surprised that this is up here already? WORST RATINGS RAISE EVER. Maybe if the other woman had shown up again I would have been impressed - sticking with a lesbian relationship on television, ala Willow and Tara, is fine, and sometimes creates really good role-models for people in bad situtations. But a one-off very passionate kiss with a character who's never seen again? That's just for all the guys out there who want to watch stuff like this. Not cool.

And to be honest I'm not a huge fan of kissing at all in film unless it really is absolutely nessecary for the plotline of the episode and the series overall. This wasn't, and not only was it a brief meaningless relationship, but it was a brief, meaningless lesbian relationship, thereby implying that they aren't as important as the other kind. As far as I'm concerned, it was a really stupid idea.

One thing to remember, look at how they handled previous relationships. For every character that got a romantic interest, the new romance wasn't seen again for ages. Oh, they may reference them from time to time, but not often. While I'd love to see this new woman be a live-in-sanctuary steady romance-often recurring or new cast member, it probably won't happen.
At first my male brain was going: "Amanda Tapping. Sanctuary. Lesbian kiss. Duuuuuh Buuuuh", but when I got my sanity back, I got scared of this becoming silly soap opera serious drama. I REALLY hope they inject a lot of humour into this hookup... Baah I'm sure they will handle this nicely, don't fail me now Sanctuary :)

As soon as I saw these two connect, I waited the entire episode for it to happen. whoever didn't see it coming, wasn't really paying attention. they flirted the entire episode and one could see "the other woman" become more attentive towards Helen with every passing minute. since she's a scientist as well, I hope to see more of her, and this sixth sense of mine tells me we will.

This lesbian kiss was so unnecessary to the Sanctuary story and plot line. Amanda didn't look very comfortable doing it either. It was done for shock value and was in poor taste. Very disappointed if this story line continues. Many others feel the same way too. Will stop watching the show if this becomes a lesbian show. Nothing against lesbians, just like Magnus the way she is. Or the way I thought she was.
This actually makes sense. After living nearly 3 centuries Magnus would have at least 1 or 2 female lovers. She lived like 190 years up to the 21st Century then went back in time and had to do another century just to catch up to 2011 again. Another 100 years with a 21st Century culture mindset? Yep she probably had a few lesbian loves. I have a feeling that they are going to show probably at least 1 of those women soon from her 2nd go around living in the past.

The defining feature of the Helen Magnus character is her age. She was always a level headed person, what I hoped they would explore in this season was a further level of enlightment (100+ years of solid thinking should help right?). I think this was a step in the right direction. I think a lesbian story line would be terrible for the show, but I like this moment - it shows Magnus is even more opened minded and ready to embrace any situation. Also, seeing Amanda lez off made my boy parts tingle

This was the first episode i ever watched. I was gawking at the ladies the whole ep wondering what would happen if they did it. Maybe it was so well written that it was supposed to play with our minds. All I kno is as soon as the fantasy somewhat came true and they kissed, I threw my hands up. This was like the most surprising episode of Sanctuary ever! OMG, Syfy knows how to please its fans... :-) Maybe it´s a cheap trick - using lesbian scenes to attract more viewers, but I don´t care. I love it!!!

I was definitely not expecting the kiss. It's the first time I've had a 'WTF' moment from watching a TV series since farscape.
I originally thought she'd be feliz, basically with the same reason as richard gave at the end.
Then I thought Magnus would just ask her to call at any time, but BAM, lesbian kiss. My jaw dropped like a sledge hammer.
As for her being alone for 113 years, I was expecting a much calmer character when she came back; she's basically the same as she was all along.

This was like the most surprising episode of Sanctuary ever! OMG, Syfy knows how to please its fans... :-) Maybe it´s a cheap trick - using lesbian scenes to attract more viewers, but I don´t care. I love it!!!

@shewasoctober You and me both glad it was on DVR so I could see it again a couple of times. Some of the comments are .., really folks she is okay with Abnormals and some think that in her over 200 years of living she has not had lovers of all kind (men, women, Abnormals). WOW This makes the fan fiction of her and H.G Wells of Warehouse 13 that much hotter. The time period of their lives would have cross paths. Cool!
