Record to eight tracks, set the inside mic channels up as your ``mains'' for left center and right, set your two piano-top mics for your two ``fill'' channels and set your two mics up on the giraffes in the back of your room as your reverb'' mics.

Then balance out and mix in your fill mics and your reverb mics and you will kill a lot of the room acoustics and bring it down to where YOU want it, not where the ROOM wants it.

Your problem is the room echo and the age of the piano. The age of the piano goves it character, but the room acoustics do not.

You could solve the ``heavy on the pedal'' everybody is accusing you of

by doing a re-record in the following manner:

Set up three piezo mics inside the piano, hanging down inside, let the top up, put two more like DX-77's (Letterman show desk mic) on top and then set up a couple of giraffes and hang a couple string mics (212's or 414's) in the back of the room.

i am wondering though is this a simulated sound? (electronic or keyboard simulation) or is that a real honky tonk piano? i see what looks like Yamaha written on it and yamaha is known for making realistic musical instrument sounds.
