But they should make a special class of crime, not a special class of citizen. That is a clear violation of equal protection and venturing into thought police, something the constitution protects. Call it what YOU want, but there is a list of those that will be protected, & these are just a few that will be protected. My point is that we should ALL be protected if any hate crime is committed against any person. The term "hate crime" should have no baring on the legal system. If someone beats up a gay man for being gay, why should he get a harsher punishment than someone who beats up a Christian for believing in Christ? Assault is assault. Murder is murder.
