@attura Yes I'm certainly aware o Murray the K...real name Kaufman which in German, I see to remember meant 'merchant." How I remember the British Musical Invasion--Murray was said to be its central figure. The American public rejected their own artists and Brenda was one who unfortunately for her career wasn't "a Limey." These days so many Americans have rejected domestic vehicles.
Kid Ace, 14 yrs old, growing up and learning about life, just LOOOVED this part: -- "Mama turned on the front porch lights-- said Come in Honey - that's enough for tonight!"
I was but a War Baby in Australia (rascal of a father from Chicago, Ill) who used to listen to American music as link to his country. A DJ at 4BK in Brisbane...Sammy K...played it three times in-a-row: one after the other. A unique presentation. That DJ seemed to feel the letter "K" was good enough for a last name! Have always wondered what his real name was!
I'm 16, so I obviously wasn't around for this, BUT it brings back to greatest memories! I remember my grandma jammin' out to this when I was 12. Miss you grandma :_(

@omarskats3000 She was 14. The song was recorded four months before her 15th birthday. (She was born on 11 Dec 44 and recorded this song on 13 Aug 59)
I was 15 when this was released - I knew everything - I was cool - and the world was a neat place. No cares - no troubles - just being cool - handing out. Like tough man - I mean, way cool.
Brenda's voice was "SULTRY"(kid's I am sure Wickapidia will help you understand this word)...Wolfman"s Fame came from working at a "Pirate" Directional AM 100000 watt radio station in Juarez, Mexico..On a good night he could be recieved From San Francisco to Miami.Search.."Clap For The Wolfman". I am old enough to remember the wolfmans antics on "The Midnight Special"..I Recomend to the wounger folx, getting the American Grafittti Movie and soundtrack if you need a reason to smile..
@LeftyLucyRightyTyty The station you are probally talking about was XERF 1570 across the border from Del-Rio,, TX. I remember it from the 70's and it ran 250,000 watts. Impressive considering the limit was 50,000 watts in the US. The 250,000 transmitter burned out in the 1980's but is still on the air with a Mexican format, but not at full power. XERA was the station previously on 1570, by Dr. Brinkley a snake oil preacher. thats rumored to run close to 1 million. He was sued out of business
does anybody know where KRE studios are? i know all the radio stations west of the mississippi start with a k, all the ones east, start with a w. and the very first stations only have three call letters. and i know, everynight in the early 90s when i would drive through san bernardino everynight, i would hear wolfman jack on the radio. it could have been syndicated, but it sounded local.
OMG - 1960 - around 11ish. I loved this song I used to play that 45 all the time. I thought this was so "sexy" back when I was that young! Listening to it now, I can certainly see why I did - she does have that special raspy edge to her voice. Such a voice coming out of teen who I understand was around 5'1" or so. This was SWEET - BUT CERTAINLY WON'T NOTHING!!!!!!!! Thanks for a great post.

Brenda Lee appeared on the "Paul Whiteman" way back when??? My whole family watched the show together on a small "Cromwell" TV. BL was fantastic and sang with "soul." You know how old I am. Still rockin !
Another favorite of mine from Little Miss Dynamite,as they used to call her! That girl had some voice! My sister won a radio contest in Norfolk, Virginia in 1960, and got to meet Brenda and Bobby Vinton. Won't she lucky?
