  • Sandy: If it's sports I'll just punch you!

  • @HarlemHyena Lol... Someone's channeling Vicki Lawrence...

  • Does anyone have the Episide Where Sandi Duncan Was in a winner circle win and she broke the restraints or straps on her chair when she jumped up

  • This was from 10000's visit to the West Coast in the CBS run. Jack Clark was the announcer for the West Coast episodes run (he moved to California in 1970). The regular announcers for the CBS run of 10000 were Bob Clayton (primary subustitute announcer was Ed Jordan).

  • Hey, GardfieldnPyramid, this wasn't Tuesday's episode. This was Friday's episode wiht Sandy and Ed.

  • oh my god! what's white and has three eyes? Why it's ed asner and sandy duncan of course!

  • Sandy Duncan was HOT!!! ....just kidding!

  • This aired November 16, 1973.

  • I was in the Ed Sullivan Theater last month..,.for a taping of David Letterman.

  • How many episodes of the CBS version used the huge door in front of the pyramid? I've seen one black & white clip with the door, but none in color.

  • to my knowledge, the doors were removed with the introduction of the winners' montage at the intro.

  • look at the clips of the main gameboard closely, and notice that the bottom section looks as though it was hiding something. It was, it was hiding what was once areas for four more category boxes, but they were nailed over, and painted to look like the gameboard, because there was no way for someone to give ten correct category responses in 60 seconds.

  • Question... what was with the slanted look of the Pyramid?

  • Slanted? I don't get it...

  • I meant like the pyramid just looks like it's slanted. Maybe it's the camera's position but it looks like the actual pyramid is slanted, and it looks that way especially on the $10k shows that I've seen.

  • Like from :38-:41 it just looks off.

  • Ohh... gotchas... I think it was the way the camera was situated... ;-)

  • This is a CBS episode.

  • just curious... i notice that in the CBS eps when they play the winners circle they all but black out the set save the circle and the pyramid. in the ABC shows there is no lighting change whatsoever. why the difference??? btw i like the darkened set better, it makes it more dramatic

  • The CBS episodes where taped at the Ed Sullivan Theatre, which seemed to have more technical abilitys of light dimming and such than the Elysee Theatre, where the ABC pyramids taped.

  • And when the show returned to CBS, the set not only darkened, but turned a bit red.

  • i taped this episode on GSN about 8 years ago. it was part of a "Game Show Saturday Night" block that GSN used to show back then.

  • I found out that GSN skipped and episode of $10,000 Pyramid. Thay only aired 14 of the 15 episodes. Was it poor quality?

  • Probably so. They must be picky on what episodes are good enough quality to air.

  • Do they still save episodes even if they are in bad shape? I'd like to see some fortage come up in the tradeing circult. To be exact it was Tusdays episode with Sandy and Ed.

  • ..and obviously the Anita Gillette win was before they put straps in the chairs and disallowed hand motions with the clues in the winners circle....

  • BTW, this being from 1973 as the description says, this was about a year after Sandy Duncan was a guest voice on CBS & Hanna-Barbera's the New Scooby-Doo Movies. Sadly the episode that she was a guest voice on is not on DVD, although I have seen it and it's pretty cool.

  • I wonder why The Odd Couple never did an episode where Felix and Oscar go on The $10,000 Pyramid? Maybe because it wasn't as known as Password back then?

  • Maybe because Pyamid was taped in New York and The Odd Couple was filmed at the Paramont Studios in Hollywood. This would have prevented The Odd Couple from using the Pyramid set.

  • @gameshowluvr86 How about a week featuring Klugman and Randall as the celebrities?

  • @gameshowluvr86 You got a point there. It'd be interesting to be both actors from "The Odd Couple" to complete in either "Password" or "Pyramid".

  • Question: Did the contestant Joan eventually win the $10,000, or was she eventually defeated? I know she took some time off when they did that week of celebrity episodes with McLean Stevenson, Loretta Swit, Anita Gillette, and David Spielberg.

  • I think the best clue for Paul Lynde would be "He's the center square on 'The Hollywood Squares,'" and another good clue for cub would be "the baseball team in Chicago."

  • Why is there a line underneath the $50 boxes?

  • I think that was where they were trying to cover up the bottom four boxes. (Remember the plywood?)

  • They originally wanted to have the contestants do 10 subjects in 60 seconds. But at the last minute, they changed the rules in the Winners Circle to what it is today. And since they didn't have time to redo the entire pyramid, they simply nailed a plywood board over where the boxes would've been and painted it.

  • LOL too funny ty

  • During the intro, I only remember that the first celebrity was Tony Randall. Can you please name the others?

  • To gather all celebrity idenification in one comment: The "picnic things" celebrity was Tony Randall, "things that go on the hand" celebirty was Joann Worley, the "things in a bottle" celebrity is Lucie Arnaz, and the "things you break" celebrity is Anita Gillette.

All of these wins had the celebrity giving the clues.

  • All of the winner circles in the into were from NY episodes.

  • Like every series, those early "Pyramid" episodes were more disorganized, but more entertaining.

  • Things look very good here; to be able to see the very early days is Pyramid is a great find. These contestants and celebraties are forming their own stratagies and playing the game very laid back; very good for a show in the 70's. Sandy is playing very laid back but remains competitive at the same time; i'm surprised Dick didn't take offense for not knowing his job. Ed is serious but having fun at the same time. All in all this is the early stage of a long running masterpiece.

  • In the opening, I recognize Joann Worley and Anita Gillette. However, I do not recognize the first male celebrity or the celebrity in "things in a bottle"

  • First male celebrity is the one and only Tony Randall, and the "things in a bottle" is Lucie Arnaz if I'm not mistaken.

  • @UmedaRaton That's Joanne Worley from Laugh-In

  • The little old lady with Anita Gillette in the intro was by far the funniest.

  • Alright Ladies and Gentlemen, THIS IS CBS!

  • Now, gameshowluvr86, if you dont mind, after you post this episode of the $10,000 Pyramid, can you please post the last TPIR episode to be rerun, which was the February 9, 1984 episode which included the Clock Game playing that offered a car.And if you have that episode, finish up with the $10K Pyramid and later on upload that TPIR episode that I was talking about.

  • Sandy and Ed's entrance in this episode was cute.

  • Lol. Thanks for reposting your comment! ;)

  • @vnisanian2001 WOW, Ed Asner was tossing her around like a rag doll-

  • The good ol' years of game shows! :D
