how to compose lower and background to live broadcasting?I need your help please, i do have a MX-4DV Focus videomixer and dont know how may options are out there to get compose my lower thirds
Sorry kurtrock27, I have not been on my youtube acct in awhile. I took at look at the MX4DV. Unfortunately doesn't look like it handle key signals. You may have to key the lower thirds downstream from your mixer. check your documentation though and see i f you can do a "luminance" or luma key. If so you can render a black and white version of your graphic to key out areas for transparency. Let me know what you find.
Cool, thanks! :) (I'm still a newbie to broadcast graphics) I need to render the lower thirds with the make movie command in AE before I import it to Premiere right? Also will there be quality change/generation loss (which I guess won't) also? I'm just thinking about how to preserve the best quality of the lower thirds once it has migrated over to premiere pro. :) Again, thanks!!
I'm just wondering (since I'm doing graphics for an informercial)do you import video clips into AE to layer your lower third on top of the footage? Or do you import the lower third into an app like Premiere Pro and then layer the lower third (plus text) over the footage?
you can do it either way, It might be better in your case to bring it into Premiere and put it on top of your footage with the text on top of that. Another way - if you have a list of all of your text, you can render each one out with the text on it - one less layer in Premiere. Remember to make sure that you render the lower thirds with an alpha channel.
No I haven't made a tutorial for this, it would be a very long tutorial. I looked at broadcast design companies that did news graphics and right here on youtube for ideas. check out giantoctopus, hothaus, and VDO
It helps to sketch out rough drafts and make notes of things (like colors or if you want faint matrix-like text effect). Then start building, pre-composing, masking, and layering be sure to experiment with the layer's blending modes. make a solid 3D layer and move a pt light over it.
Sorry Vlad, I didn't see this question until today. Yes, I used AE for most of it. Also used Lightwave 3D to model and animate the CBS eye that is in the background.

Yes, you should use the following settings.
If you're using Windows then render them as uncompressed avi and millions colors+
If on a mac or if you have quicktime - render them with the Animation, millions of colors+
In After effects in the render queue there should be a dropdown list under "Output Module" you can try selecting "Lossless with Alpha"
