That's the problem with torture, yes... and also with coercive tactis. With interrogation, not so much. When interrogations are successful, the subject is tricked into accidentally blurting out the truth. It's not something they concoct to avoid the interrogation because if it's done right they don't really understand what's happening.

Thanks man. All you have to do is only ever be drunk on video and then edit yourself a lot... leaving in just enough speech quirks so people realize you're actually drunk. Confining your drunken rants to things you know pretty well helps too

it's a simplification. i think there was some legal finding by the attorney general as to how to interpret the geneva convention. i won't vouch for its contents, but interpreting laws in official findings is normal and happens daily. what people fault the admin for (on this subject) is not redefining anything, it's saying that the geneva convention applies in some cases and doesn't in others. i actually agree with that in principle, but not necessarily in practice.
