  • Thanks for asking, it's not a dumb question.the bands allow me to use more weight through my strongest part of the bench which is the top end. Many powerlifters that compete in bench shirts do this exercise because it has a good carryover to their shirted bench and hits the triceps really well. I like to do it to help overload my nervous system...in turn allowing me to handle heavier weights without the bands. I feel it also gives me a good confidence boost when using straight weight.

  • what's the point of the bands? forgive me if it's a dumb question. why not just decreas the weight?
