there's no such thing as "too musical theatre-y"....it's musical theatre. the bigger the better. and "too gay"? really? for someone who seems to be a musical theatre fan (theatregeek?) i would expect more tolerance in the realm of gay support. that's completely insensitive. you definitely could've given your opinion without being insulting and rude.

@princesstootsweet3 Actually there is such a thing as too musical theatre-y when it comes to this show. This show was written as a ROCK musical. Richard O'Brian has been quoted saying that the show "should not be over-choreographed and should be dark with plenty of horror." Also, in musical theatre bigger is not always better....if that's what you think, perhaps you should go back to class.

I think this guy is really talented, but... I'm not really a fan of the spread vowel, super super bright sound... It doesn't really fit Brad's character anyway. I think his voice would totally fit a bunch of other roles. I just wish more people sang on b'way with a slightly deeper sound, with slightly taller vowels. This is all just my opinion though. Jake still rocks.

The performances are great and I appreciate Andrew posting these videos. However, it would be nice if UM MT could provide a better venue and higher-quality recording. I'm a UM alum - but Penn State MT knows how to show off their students. (See videos from jhughespspb.) 5 Stars in spite of the middle school cafeteria setting.

OK - my comment probably wasn't fair then. I'd love to see some high quality video of the actual showcases. UM MT department and student quality are unquestionably very high; it would be a great way to market both. Kgrahams' and Andrew's videos are a nice start but more could be done.

I just got done with this show in October, it's so amazingly fun. Actually, we all ended up getting drunk during every 12:00 Saturday night show, not very professional, no, but everyone in the audience was drunk as well (Cheap bar in the theatre's porch.) so there wasn't much notice. And that made it like, 50 billion times more interesting/exciting.

I mean, how often do you get to DO that?!
