couldnt have said it fucking better true words spoken from the greatest musician in the fucking world nobody will ever top the generosity and the caleber of amazement this man brought to the table A TRUE HUMAN BEING AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE WORLD IS SUPPOSE TO BE WITH PEOPLE AS AMAZING AS THE MAN HIM SELF DIMEBAG MOTHER FUCK DARRELL
The first time I watched this part of Dimevision, I was stunned. I knew Dimebag was an amazing musician, guitar-player, AND person. But I had no idea he had such a way with words that was so powerful and true. Like he said, you can't beat honesty. And that's what he had. :D Wish I could have went to a Pantera show.
not really a metal head, and not familiar with pantera. but this is the first musician i've heard that went against conventional wisdom. seems like a really good dude to boot. it's a shame this guy is gone.
I've always said Dime may not have been the best technical guitarist, but the man was the best guitarist ever. In every aspect. He could put on a hell of a show, he could play the shit out of his guitar, and he knew music. RIP Dime. I am just sad I was too young and dumb to like Pantera and Damageplan back when he was still here.
Everytime I went into the studio with somebody there would always be someone that didn't do their homework and studio time IS valuable. This is OUR moment in the sun and you wanna nail it on the first take, at least I do, that PERFECT fucking moment like a surfer riding that perfect wave, that perfect memorable solo that you just know is just as good and belongs with the top 100 solos and songs of the millinium. But no someone always slacks and you end up using a drum machine...
...or some dumb fuck that don't know what they're doing drags a band into a studio before they're ready and it ends up a trainwreck!!! Been there ande done both.
well said, dime... you were a fucking rock messiah...
now music is feelingless... your guitar was fucking talking with us, telling what you felt and let us reflect on these emotions. I growed up with your songs, and I still listen to them again and again...
I don't think you could be happy in seeing what music is became nowadays... maybe you could be a lighthouse in this darkness... is so dark here, dime, and is so hard... maybe you're happier where you are... wherever you are... i can't wait to meet you there... i hope i will... i would like to tell you these things, but is too late..goodbye cowboy... see ya and thanks...
Anyone who is a fan of this guy should be so damn nice I swear, I hate when people talk a bunch of shit about others "mistakes" I mean does it really matter? Is it really just mistakes or is it something someone's learning.
thats gotta be the most honest, sincere, truest shit ive ever heard about music in my life. no one else couldve said it better and no one else ever will. god bless you dime for everything youve done
"Sample it, put it into a computer and let it do the work for us". Pretty much what he said there is how music is nowadays, none of this modern shit could compare to Pantera.
goddamn! a true artist sayin it like it is.... artists should use expression and honesty instead of computer synth bullshit. 90% of what u hear on the radio is sculpted, and perfected for months before it is released, and it sounds like the other 89.9% crap bands putting out shit that they can never play again live. Dime, you are missed, bro, and still to this day you inspire kids all around the world to "let it all hang out". R.I.P brother
It's so true, the Black Sabbath thing is SO damn true. Those old records with the battleing guitars, is orgasmic. He was a wise man Dimebag, we need more people like him in this world.
this is like listening to a good buddy. I picked up a guitar because of this guy and my grandad, two souls now in a better place. Everything said is so true. RiP Dime, RiP J.C. Bud Bryant, two of the coolest to ever live.
cringe hmmm dimes right man what makes other cringe is like the most fuckin beautiful sound to other ears, my old ass music teacher once told me "you'll never play guitar good if you don't know the notes"i was like man FUCK YOU haha got me suspended an shit, and now i get comments from sum ppl say'n i'ma pretty good guitar player, an i don't know what the key of G,E,A and so on,i only know a couple chords and shit man ppl complitmenting me is like badass, i nevr thought my music can speakRIPdime
I agree with him, fuck the computer generated notes. Passion from the Heart on an instrument is true music to the ears, no matter how many people cringe.
Yeah audiophiles think they know it all. Like "oh that CD is clicking or popping" or "its not mastered correctly" or "the guitar is distorted". Like the slightest creek or crevice makes them cringe but to me this whole "loudness war" (Wikipedia the shit) isn't a huge deal to me. As long as it doesn't sound like utter rubbish "static" or something I produced in my basement I am fine. Everyone is saying the new Metallica album does that? I don't see it but w/e it made me remember this video
damnnn....i just saw this and this kind of shit makes me cry now days..in this times where music is such a crap..... this guy was one of a kind... things like this is just what i need to hear now days... i´m not out of my mind..thank you darrel i love you man ....
I agree with that! Now days everyone can make music - not important the intonation, the computer does the work! I try to play on guitar and the most greatest feelings in the world - for me - i you find a great riff and play with it. And you hear it and feel it! ETC...
I out of damn nowhere started thinking about this clip had to youtube it and post it on my pages. Its just so damn true and I just hate it when people sit there and say "that guitar is junk" or "Dean's are the only good guitars" or "Ibanez are the best" or "James Hetfield is the greatest singer ever". What makes perfect. Thanks Dime you made me really realize what its all about R.I.P. brother!
When I tried to play something and screwed up, I'd hear some other note that would come into play. Then I started trying different things to find the beauty in it.-Dimebag Darrell
Well, some of us actually knew the guy. Besides, would you be bitchin if your brother/sister/mother/father died and everyone mourned and showed respect?
lmfao, all of a sudden he has a towel wrapped around his head like my girlfriend and my mom does. that's funny, he always seemed like someone everyone wanted to be friends with, but also someone that anyone could be friends with.
exactly man, most of the actual guiatar players do sweep pickin, they try to make it perfect so perfect is not even human, they look like robots doing they perfect sweepicking, not like the old days, like page, hendrix, dime, all of those motherfuckers, they didnt meant to be perfect, they were human honest sounds
R.I.P. dime u were fuckin awesome, and you have a fucking brain that many wish they had,rip

i experianced what dime was talking about, what makes you cringe, i was playing around on the guitar and hit a harmonic wrong, i thought it sounded great, but everyone else is like dude i cant stand that, doesnt that make you cringe
gah why did it have to be dime? its just like asking why did it have to be SRV or Jimi Hendrix or Randy Rhoads or(even though hes bass) Cliff Burton
i guess they were all taken, because they were all getting better, and there are somethings that this world isn't ready for. Imagine the sheer nastyness the dead legends would be ripping right now....
i dont mean to be rude to darrelll or any fans but this reminds me of one of those lost osama bin laden vids lol...............but still this guys got alot of depth into music, he was more than just a guitarist or a metal musician.............dime was king
yeah, with the towel around his head, lol, i get what you are saying. Dime was an inspiration to alot of people, its a shame he had to go. His outgoing personality, THATS what people should act like. Back in the 90s he was an inspiration to me in high school. Good man.
wow. this is pretty awesome. he pretty much explains why i like Pantera. the emotion of someone try to scream out that note and open you up to the way the fell. most people would listen to a word he said because the life he lived. rock on in the jam in the sky
Everything he says in this is true. I hate it when people want every song to be perfect or not make a single mistake. His words mean alot to me. R.I.P. :)
its not just that, no one in music now a days is real, they just have a computer generated soulless beat, even in the heaviest pantera songs, you can hear the anguish, anger, sadness, energy and emotion, ITS GODDAMN ELECTRIC
He read my thoughts exactly. That's why I'm against taking music curses to perfect your playing ability and skills. Just go with your flow and play it from the heart and do it the way you wanna do it.
Motherfucker, were you IN the fuckin studio when they were "over producing" their albums? You obviously dont know what the fuck youre talking about so keep your gay ass comments to yourself. Why wouldnt they use top of the line equipment? Goddamn, if you have the money are you gonna buy a peice of shit amp and recording equipment? Their shows definitely prove that whatever they do in the studio, they plan on bringin just as tight and heavy live...bitch
oi r-tard, listen to a pantera live concert, watch one even and see how similar they sound, so go shove that "overproduced" bulls**t of yours uno where!
Dime you are the man and always will be! You´re definately right, screw computer editing, it makes the music feel fake... It´s better to make music the way its supposed to be. Without computers the music becomes really true... RIP brother \,,/
He's got some good points, I just wish I didn't feel the guy was fucking yelling at me the entire time. By the way, I record with some of the top of line computer recording and my takes are more raw than anything Dimebag ever released.
good for u, and which major band bigger than pantera are u from? like he says in the beginning this is his opinion u dont like it? then fuck off i wont be anymore blunt about it, and he isnt yelling at all hes talking his opinions and im not hearing any hostility in it, u clearly feel hes yelling coz u do computer editing
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What the fuck are you talking about? My point is that Pantera's albums are all produced through tens of thousands of dollars of top of the line equipment, mixed and mastered by professionals. I do computer editing and my shit is more raw than any overproduced Pantera album. And I'm not from any popular band. News to you, sir... popular things usually suck.
popular things dont suck, its why their popular. your including everything thats popular with the corperate movement that exploded in the 90s. led zeppelin and the beatles are the two most popular bands, according to you the two worst.
the fact you do computer editing proves your own point wrong. dimebag perfected a great guitar tone with effects, but not with computers you idiot. not only ALL that, their live shows sounded better then the rcords anyways. your theory is worse then swiss cheese.
Chezeguerz, since when do you need to sell millions of records to appreciate music or to have an opinion about art? I think Pantera's studio albums are technically perfect in every way, so they deffinately can be considered 'overproduced'. But then agian, perfection isn't necessarily a bad thing...
yelling? have you ever seen any of these videos with dimebag on youtube? this is as quiet as i ever seen him. jesus christ open your eyes and listen rather then forming your opinion before oyu listen to wat he says
dime = god

When you listen to Pantera you can feel Dime's soul transcend through the airwaves...
heinz454 4 years ago 4
Everything he says in this is true. I hate it when people want every song to be perfect or not make a single mistake. His words mean alot to me. R.I.P. :)
CloudPow 4 years ago
its not just that, no one in music now a days is real, they just have a computer generated soulless beat, even in the heaviest pantera songs, you can hear the anguish, anger, sadness, energy and emotion, ITS GODDAMN ELECTRIC

@nulsenator not true lamb of god's latest album wrath was nearly all recorded straight through without computer synths and that good stuff
ZePhoeniex624 1 year ago
@ZePhoeniex624 well lamb of god is a real band, i mean rap and hip hop shit with shallow lyrics
nulsenator 1 year ago

No doubt about it - Pantera kicked ass live.

Dime you are the man and always will be! You´re definately right, screw computer editing, it makes the music feel fake... It´s better to make music the way its supposed to be. Without computers the music becomes really true... RIP brother \,,/

I think Bob Dillan is one of the worst singers in my fucking life too, But the point is to do what you love the most and screw everyone else.

He's got some good points, I just wish I didn't feel the guy was fucking yelling at me the entire time. By the way, I record with some of the top of line computer recording and my takes are more raw than anything Dimebag ever released.
procyoncmi 4 years ago
good for u, and which major band bigger than pantera are u from? like he says in the beginning this is his opinion u dont like it? then fuck off i wont be anymore blunt about it, and he isnt yelling at all hes talking his opinions and im not hearing any hostility in it, u clearly feel hes yelling coz u do computer editing

What the fuck are you talking about? My point is that Pantera's albums are all produced through tens of thousands of dollars of top of the line equipment, mixed and mastered by professionals. I do computer editing and my shit is more raw than any overproduced Pantera album. And I'm not from any popular band. News to you, sir... popular things usually suck.

you must be popular then because you fucking suck.
samlovesironmaiden12 3 years ago
popular things dont suck, its why their popular. your including everything thats popular with the corperate movement that exploded in the 90s. led zeppelin and the beatles are the two most popular bands, according to you the two worst.
the fact you do computer editing proves your own point wrong. dimebag perfected a great guitar tone with effects, but not with computers you idiot. not only ALL that, their live shows sounded better then the rcords anyways. your theory is worse then swiss cheese.
KustomKulture420 3 years ago
pop music is popular because it sucks.
xChiv 2 years ago 4
Chezeguerz, since when do you need to sell millions of records to appreciate music or to have an opinion about art? I think Pantera's studio albums are technically perfect in every way, so they deffinately can be considered 'overproduced'. But then agian, perfection isn't necessarily a bad thing...

yelling? have you ever seen any of these videos with dimebag on youtube? this is as quiet as i ever seen him. jesus christ open your eyes and listen rather then forming your opinion before oyu listen to wat he says
