On the Salvation Army's website, their views on numerous topics are listed. It goes on in great length about how gay people shouldn't marry and should be celibate, even though Jesus barely had anything to say at all about homosexuality. Jesus did, however, have much to say about divorce and remarriage. Yet, there's nothing on their site about how that's wrong. It's funny how they pick and choose what to detest.

I share the same line of thought regarding charities. Salvation Army isn't the only charity, and there are plenty that do not have repressive political agendas attached. If I choose SA, I'm campaigning against things like equal rights by providing funding for lobbying. My dollar is, in effect, a vote for a policy I oppose.

i think the reason the bible considers same sex partnerships as not a marrige is because hetro marriges can result in children from both parents and so keep a much stronger bond so i dont think u should be considered married untill u have a child together and the bond is made.

If a couple just wants to have a jump over a broom and call themselves "married," they have every right to, and I wouldn't say it has any more or less validity than a ceremony performed in a church. As for a legal name, I would argue we can't have fairly and justly have two separate systems. Either we're all "married" or we all get "domestic partnerships."

For instance, I know some more liberal Christians who are against gay marriage, and would never marry someone of the same sex, but who still believe others should have the right to make that choice for themselves. It's not the different beliefs that are the issue, per say. It's one person pushing that onto another that is the issue.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I didn't know that much about the Salvation Army, unfortunately I have donated much this year. Next year I will give to other non-religious local charities in my area. I believe I will donate to the local food pantry, health clinic and animal shelter instead.

It goes on in great length about how gay people shouldn't marry and should be celibate, even though Jesus barely had anything to say at all about homosexuality. Jesus did, however, have much to say about divorce and remarriage. Yet, there's nothing on their site about how that's wrong. It's funny how they pick and choose what to detest.

When I called Target to ask them why they supported an anti-gay organization, a senior customer service representative named Bobbi told me that told me that Target "loves" the Salvation Army's "Christian values of helping people". I told her that Christians don't have a monopoly on morality, and she hung up on me. I share the same line of thought regarding charities. Salvation Army isn't the only charity, and there are plenty that do not have repressive political agendas attached. If I choose SA, I'm campaigning against things like equal rights by providing funding for lobbying. My dollar is, in effect, a vote for a policy I oppose.

If a couple just wants to have a jump over a broom and call themselves "married," they have every right to, and I wouldn't say it has any more or less validity than a ceremony performed in a church. As for a legal name, I would argue we can't have fairly and justly have two separate systems. Either we're all "married" or we all get "domestic partnerships."

For instance, I know some more liberal Christians who are against gay marriage, and would never marry someone of the same sex, but who still believe others should have the right to make that choice for themselves.
