  • how much weight do professional soccer players lift at leg press and on leg extension? i heard it was about 2.5 X your body weight in a fast motion to simulate explosivness, but that exercise at 5:17 is a bit different. which one is better?

  • dude ur saying 43 KM...20 MPH is about 32 km.. its very good for a semi pro soccer player., u are comparing a proffesional runner who is one of the best, to a semi pro soccer player..soccer players have a lot more to do with other things, not just sprinting...

  • Thanks for the comment! Actually his foot position is just fine. The landing platform is slanted at a 45 degree angle which takes much of the pressure of the patella (knee).

  • Good point, both of you. I'm still a little skeptical of the 45 degree plate angle. I would think it adds more pressure to the anterior knee and the patella if most of the weight is landing on the toes first. I would have his foot land a little higher on the plate. Other than that, I liked the video a lot. I plan on using many of these in my summer soccer workout. Question: Plyometric or general exercises for throw-ins?? Got any ideas? If you made a video that would be great!

  • i think u need a bit of both! ps, check youtube for throw ins! look at different techniques and i'm sure you get the result you need.

  • Muscle mass that is gained through weight training and then conditioned for a specific sport is beneficial until you reach a point when the muscle weighs you down too much. Its always better to have some mass on you so when someone tackles you, its much easier to hold your ground

  • No they don't. 20mph is exceptionally quick in a football (soccer) match.

  • ok maybe not all the time but say on a break away, a professional defender can easily get up to 20 mph comin back. Because here in the US sometimes in a American Football game they will show the speed of a player running. and they get up to 21 mph, with pads. so i doubt that futbol players never get up to 20 mph.

  • I didn't say they never get up to 20, I said it was exceptional. Google "nike who is the fastest", click on the first link and then look at head-to-head. That shows the fastest players in the EPL. Only 4 or 5 can get to 21mph, and not to many more can get 20. Unless you've got some serious speed then you won't touch 20 yourself. I can only get to about 18 and that's on a track.

  • By standard I mean level, like semi pro, pro, college (I don't really know how it works in the US). 11.69 is fast for 100m but it depends how big you are (which affects how fast you accelerate) as to what your top speed is. I can't break 12 seconds for 100m but I'm 6'5" so I hit my top speed really late.
