This would all be much easier using a hosting service but not nearly as fun, I wanted to figure out how to host myself so thanks again. -Andrew

  • Hi Everyone!

Maybe u can help me in this case:

I have an HTML PAGE with TEXTAREA, DROP-DOWN-LIST and SUBMIT BUTTON

and lets say User typed "TEXT" in the TEXTAREA and CATEGORIZED it with the DROP-DOWN-LIST OPTION called "OPTION1". After he hit the SUBMIT Button, I would like that his "TEXT" is saved in the

    MYSQL TABLE under FIELD "OPTION1".

Whats the PHP Code for that?

    Thank you in advance!

  • when i download xampp it says port 80 already in use mysql failed to download and apache failed to start. also when i click admin nothing opens and when i change localhost it still says it works. what did i do wrong?

  • CARA A SSIM Q ACABA A INSTALAÇÃO O BOTÃO ADIMINNÃO ESTA SELECIONADO O QUE EU FAÇO?

  • apache doesn't start when i click it. do you know why

  • To not have your ip as your website, go to no-ip(dot)org. Create an account, and go to Add Host. Then create your domain name and have your host be your external ip (you get this from whatismyip[dot]org). Then go into your hosts file (C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc\hosts) and format it with your internal ip, subnet mask, and external ip, and after each, put down your domain name from no-ip. That's how you make it.

  • I've downloaded and installed xammp. I have a premade php layout and when I upload it to my 000webhost, only the writings came up and it just said php error. Do I need to do anything to my php index file before I upload it ?? and is there a specific place where I should save all my php files?? also, I use dreamweaver to edit it, could that be the problem??

  • Andre you can use a iframe

  • Is it possible to get a DOMAIN like .org or .com "without a registrar" and host it on your own? I have someone telling me they host their own domain and that they are the registrar. I thought you need a approved registrar like godaddy or register.com for .com, .org, etc..? Or should I as can you create a .org or .com on your own and host it?

  • thanks jimmy. tat was a great help. :)

  • You are so helpful

  • hi

  • (--,)b thumbs up..nice tutorial..thank you very much..

  • Thanks so much. I also needed this tutorial for phpMyAdmin.

  • You are good at making tutorials, but you're making a mistake that most novices do. You explain unnecessary things. For example, on the installer screen, you said, "It supports Dutch, English, and Japanese", which is true, but irrelevant. If you improve on that tiny little mistake you will be a great teacher!

(I know this is almost 3 years old, but you may still want my input)

  • 1: you dont have to have the computer open 24/7 xampp is open auto.

  • DOT COM DOT NET DOT ORG DON'T EXIST

lol the volume needs some leveling xD

  • This guy somehow pulls off being excited and not at the same time

  • @abney317

haha you made me laugh sir xD

  • i own a domain already is there a site that will host my .com for free?

  • I need a tip from someone, please. I've saved several account pages (such as Inbox, sent, trash, etc.) of one website and now I opened them with dreamweaver and am trying to attach one page to another. I've edited the 'a' tag references but the pages are still separate .php files whereas I need them to be as parts of one .html website. I believe it is an easy task but unfortunately am completely clueless in regards to HTML, CSS etc. thus need help. Thanks.

  • I still have a problem, why the apache not running? is the only one what not running? omfg, plz help!

  • okay i have a domain, how do i attach it to this webserver/computer server

  • great tutorial, thanks

  • I love you! Thanks loads for your tips that solved my configuring problems!

  • Learning PHP is easy, following the changes is tough

    Maybe Mercury(If needed)

  • 127.0.0.1 is called the loopback address. when troubleshooting network connectivity, "ping 127.0.0.1" in the command prompt will verify that nothing is wrong with the network card.

  • But dude how do i change the name of the website i dont want the numbers as my adress (BUT your tutorial was amazing the best i have looked on ;D)

  • @LightStudioO

you have to buy a domain.

I know where to buy them cheap, pm me if you would like to know.

  • @LightStudioO thats just your name for right now but once you host it changes to what ever you hosted the name as

  • @LightStudioO Buy a domain.

  • @LightStudioO you don't do that in xampp

if your making a website in notepad++ just type post instead of get

  • @LightStudioO you can't. But you can go purchase a .com from anywhere and have it redirect to your computer's website.

  • @LightStudioO you have to buy the domain

  • @LightStudioO

You need a DNS Server. There are free ones like DynDNS.com Or you can set up DNS in your server.

  • @LightStudioO Try Going To co.cc And Signup For Fre And Change It Like That Like Mine thedolbee.co.cc

  • @LightStudioO You could buy a domain, then set it up using your IP as DNS, or you could use URL fowarding to have a domain just redirect you!

    Free domains i use

    dot.tk

    co.cc

    Paid domains i use

    .com

    .net

    .org

    .co

  • @LightStudioO Use a local DNS server easy

  • @LightStudioO buy a domain

  • @yaaay56 once you have your port forwarded (port 80) all you will need to do is open No-IP then start the XAMPP, type in your No-IP adress you created into any web browser and it will bring up the default HTML file given from the install.

  • hi, what is the difference between a dedicated server and a normal server?

  • @eetufck A dedicated server is a computer that runs only the server programs. It is used only for the server function and for nothing else. A normal server can run other applications at the same time as acting as a server, but the dedicated server is faster and has a higher capacity.

  • @eetufck

hi an dedicated server is like google or microsoft these kind of company, they have their own servers which only serve themselves and a normal server is like godaddy.com they have hosting services, and you buy "portion" of the server or technically you rent them for certain price.

    thats it!

  • I downloaded the xampp using your instructions it is download but its'not working.

also when i go to that website for downloading xampp they dont have an installer they only got EXE and a zip file.

pls help i need to update my company website

  • @abcdefghfl sometimes if you are running programs like Skype or Windows Live messenger if will interfere with the actual XAMPP Server.

  • @abcdefghfl also the EXE file is the installer

  • Very nice bro I understand ..a lot
