  • O my god you are the first person ive ever heard figure how hard it is to use the frag round! Thank you!! and why arent you a game designer cause you my friend get it!!

  • The frag round niche is to be used against light armor (humvee and vodnik) and helicopters that fly low. They hurt all passengers in the vehicle and damage the vehicle. Simple put when you choose frags you should know that light vehicles are your priority not infantry combat.

  • I could care less if they removed them from the game. Now noobs have to actually get some skill instead of just spraying Frag rounds everywhere. Good riddance!

I understand what you are saying in your video. I just don't care anymore. I don't care if I ever see Frag rounds again. I won't miss them one bit. Noobs ruined them for everyone.

  • What level do you unlock it?

  • @markers547754 Frag rounds are unlocked after getting 60 kills with the shotgun.

  • I wonder if frag rounds secondary damage counts as a "hit" in terms of accuracy...

It seems almost certain that it is considered a hit if you do any damage at all on a shot (even just hitting with one pellet for buckshot) which you are nearly guaranteed to do at most distances except for sniping-range.

Personalyl I don't find frag useless - just situationally useful. Do NOT underestimate the ability to deal AoE damage around corners. Best as a situational secondary though, like a M26-frag.

  • 2:34 Your examples of shooting people first before they return fire is invalid. You aimed directly at their chest while they got headshots on you. Obviously you died faster. I would like to see this video again but aim that shotgun at their head and see who kills who faster.

  • @LesterTheRed I agree to an extent - but frags do not do heatshot extra damage AFAIK. dars and buckshot do EXTRA headshot damage though (2,4 instead of usual 2x).

It seems to me that the biggest use for frag ammo is to dislodge people in tight maps. Want to break the line in metro? Not too hard when you can deal both uber supression AND lots of damage to lots of people by shooting walls/floors/ceilings next to the cover people use to wait for you to pop around the corner.

  • LOL 1:14 to 1:30 you are saying it takes more skill to miss all of your shots? BAHAHAHA

  • @Bondie11 Watch again..it seems you missed something..*DUH*lol

  • The problem with what you're doing with Frag-12 rounds is you're trying to hit the target with the round...just shoot at his/her feet. Use them as a rocket noob would use a SMAW (not against a vehicle :p ) In short, the Frag-12 ammo is for skill-less players. Trying to be a skilled player with a gun that was meant to compensate for people who suck should not allow you to be a better player. If you can aim, use an aim-heavy weapon and win. Working as intended IMO.

  • Frag ammunition should be used for Suppression, not for killing power. Used correctly, they put immediate and severe Suppression on your target, forcing them to take cover and allowing your squad/teammates to move in and take them out.

  • I don't know about this video. You were aiming at the enemies body and they were aiming at your head. I'm pretty sure they would have killed you anyway...even without you using shotguns and frag ammo.

  • Frag rounds are so overpowered it makes me want to sell the game. i played a match yesterday and some kid had these and was taking me out with one shot at an impossible range. when you are getting shot by these its almost like getting shot by a LAV

  • @crzzymnn911 Impossible. Frag rounds require at least 2 direct hits to kill. You must be bad.

  • @TheBlueDeath1000 Most people now are either using the op famas or the op frag rounds. so whos the BK? me using guns like aks-74u, mk11, m4a1 or the kids using that cheap shit that takes zero skill?

  • @crzzymnn911 Like how you avoided the point of my response.

You lying and stretching the truth.

  • A video stating that frag rounds have become useless. That makes me very happy and I hope DICE DOESN'T watch this video so frag rounds remain ineffective. I'm sorry, NitroGamingNet, this is a brilliantly made video but frag rounds can go fuck themselves.

  • Excellent video (the newer one was great too) with great narration. On the 360 the USAS 12 is still somewhat over powered when using the frag ammo. It's quite evident on some maps where players that use it tend to end up with heaps of kills. At any rate, keep the vids coming! :)

  • @mikemanau thats because you can't aim as well on console as you can on PC. Console shooters are more spray'n'pray gameplay and that always gets easier with a shotgun. Add a grenade round and you're all set for tipping any gun battle in your favor

  • Love the vid. Will you be talking about other weapon types as well?

  • excellent vid. well thought out and thoroughly executed. lookin forward to more bf3 content on weapons and vehicles. thanx and good luck.

  • Totally agree!

  • frag rounds are for suppression so your team can move up rather than killing

  • @anthonym2121 Oh come on, that's impossible in practice.

  • @anthonym2121

Since when are you close enough to be suppressing with a shotgun. A long room? Suppression requires a good rate of fire, meaningful impact, and the range to apply it. All the M1014's gonna do at the ranges it matters is make people go further into cubbyholes and corners of buildings. Something you /don't/ want at 10 foot fights.

  • @anthonym2121 The thing is that they're also extremely effective with the USAS12 at the moment due to the automatic, high fire-rate and quick reload nature of that weapon.

  • I hope some DICE devs are watching this

  • Superb. Keep it up please! Im subscribing.

  • Dude, keep making videos! Awesome analysis, I was looking for this kind of analysis and yours is the best I've seen (Also thanks for making a recent vid, 99% of the others are back in BETA days b4 patches

  • "12G Frag An advanced explosive round, Frag rounds provides enhanced suppression but lack accuracy or stopping power"

To be fair, it's own description says it's the least powerful but I do agree the reduced power in Semi Shotguns is a little harsh.

  • You'll die every time if you engage people with a shotgun from those distances. I agree that the damage nerf is too much (your best example was the 4 shot kill from close range at Hilltop), but shotguns are clearly only meant for CQC.

  • I agree with you. The frag rounds are utterly useless. They are innacurate, low damage worhtless rounds to use.

  • Thankyou x100 for having a skip intro button. Wish more vids had this.

  • i think the best example of how bad shotguns are would be DAO12.

with buckshot and the absolute closest range, it still does not kill in one shot.

that means in close range (if the target doesnt have his back to you) you will always lose even with the most effiecient close range ammo.

a dao12 also take about 9 hours to reload.

with the nerf hitting FULL auto and SEMI auto just as hard, it made semis suck epic balls, dao12 is now 100% useless.

Which suck because i was 100 kills away from 500

  • Note that Frag rounds have less drop than Flachette, Buckshot and Slug.

Frag rounds go better with USAS and now the MK3A1. These aren't meant for long range but they're a big improvement over Buckshot for medium ranges. With the automatic USAS it's pretty OP actually, even after its been nerfed.

  • @NikeWK I fail to see how its OP, at long range you have to go burst all the time and with 10 frags in the ammo you need to focus the shoots to count for bullet drop after you fire the first 2-3. That means that almost any riffle will have killed you by the time you can kill him with the USAS. And on close range, USAS + Frag = Suicide after you take the other guy out.

  • @tavirosu25 You are obviously not understanding that people never use it like that. Anyone with even a meager amount of intelligence goes on a meatgrinder server (64 player domination on metro), and simply flanks the enemy team over and over. It was a strategy exploited by idiots who wanted a cheap and easy way to get a good KDR.

  • so just use buckshot......

  • In your tests you are going for a low body shot and your opponent is going for a headshot.

  • @GovernmentAgentJym13 The only test where we purposely shot at the head is the long range demo. For the short and medium range demo, we decided to go full auto. A full auto shot, aimed at the body, eventually ends at or near the head, thus resulting in and ending headshot.
