The hypocrisy of the American government is truly astounding when torture is considered. The integrity of the country is under attack and this government has put us there with the controversial and hypocritical views and actions. America ratified a United Nations sanctioned article prohibiting the use of torture, but the government has deemed it necessary to utilize torture to obtain intelligence.
For America to be considered a leader in the free world and a representation of Democracy is absurd; as America enforces one standard onto the world and yet is immune to the same set of laws and regulations. Historically the ideology of the aforementioned would be considered Dictatorship, Monarchy, and maybe even Totalitarianism. America cannot justify torture against others when, we ourselves, have ruled it to be unjust and illegal.
Whatever happened to a simple yes or no answer? Every politco has to preface their response with a paragraph of conditional rhetoric. When they start in with that crap, my eyes glaze over and I lose all interest in hearing what they have to say. The hypocrisy of the American government is truly astounding when torture is considered. The integrity of the country is under attack and this government has put us there with the controversial and hypocritical views and actions. America ratified a United Nations sanctioned article prohibiting the use of torture, but the government has deemed it necessary to utilize torture to obtain intelligence.

For America to be considered a leader in the free world and a representation of Democracy is absurd; as America enforces one standard onto the world and yet is immune to the same set of laws and regulations. Historically the ideology of the aforementioned would be considered Dictatorship, Monarchy, and maybe even Totalitarianism. America cannot justify torture against others when, we ourselves, have ruled it to be unjust and illegal.

Whatever happened to a simple yes or no answer? Every politco has to preface their response with a paragraph of conditional rhetoric. When they start in with that crap, my eyes glaze over and I lose all interest in hearing what they have to say. Steele is an agonizing person to listen to, he contorts his position grotesquely to accomodate his ideaology. He is by no means the only one to do it, but he is especially subject to it.

It was my impression that Michael Steele was making a desperate attempt to secure his position and appease the right wingers. I just watched Michael Steele on TV speaking to republicans to try to kick start the republicans. He made a speech and one of his staements was " the honeymoon for the white house is over". Yes, roles have switched since the 50's; it was due to Johnson's support for civil rights and the republican "southern strategy" of gaining the white vote in the south. That is why and how, so many of the old southern racists like Strum Thurmond ended up comfortably in the Republican party. Cenk is paying attention to Steele because he is the chairman of the RNC, no other reason.
