Uhhhhh. ..... HOW did they possibly sound like REM before REM was formed, and how come they are much cuter than that trash foundation known in the corporate controlled media as REM ????? REM ???
@holybear Agreed. What they were doing in 1981 wasn't that bad, though. I actually think Face Dances and It's Hard are pretty good albums... "pretty good" for a band like the Who, the Beatles and the Stones is actually pretty bad, but no Who album is as bad as "Who's Last"... They just butcher the classics.
That being said... I'm only here to get into some 1980s groups. I'm quite pleased so far.
@holybear Wow, that's thoughtful as hell....you're right! I dare say you're ahead of a lot of us. . . .never would've come up with that, myself. I just decided to let them keep sucking. :)
I´ve just started to write a "book " about what music has done to me the last 38 Years. Of course I made a list containing my 500 faves and much to my surprise it contains at least five dB´s songs. Black and white, Big brown eyes, Moving in your sleep, Happenstance and Living a lie. Their first two albums are amongst my top 100.
@gavgams I find it hard to name the "very" TopTen, I´ve heard such a large number of wonderful songs in my life - but my comment was meant as a complement: There´s no other band or artist who succeeded in entering my list five times! Favourite band, so to say! Only the Go-Bes come close with four songs.
By the way, I´m glad to meet so many people here, who also love the dB´s.
The first two dB's records are classics. I remember that they were quite hard to find in most stores because they were on an import label...Albion, I believe. I still have both of them and a few 45's as well.
I bought this record then when it was relesed and It really.. sounds to weak as now and then even thou as I rememeber there where no weak spots or songs ,on just this record and youre watching theconvolute that shipped with the songs

This is fantastic. The dB's are a great pop band who never got the popular acclaim that they deserved, IMHO.
I will have to break out my old copy of 'Repercussion' now, and, listen to both.
