Alto C is definitely better for sensitive ears. I don't have sensitive ears, but even I can't stand Soprano ocarinas lol.

If it was me, I would definitely go for the Focalink plastic Alto C. In my experience, its the best plastic Alto C ocarina - better than Noble, Zin and Solist.

I don't understand. The Focalink plastic Alto C is cheap just like the other plastics.

You can buy either at Songbird ocarinas website or Focalink website, depending on which ends up being cheaper for you (probably Songbird).

@TheMicoGirl If you're getting a Zelda ocarina, you might as well get a decent one. Check out Songbird Ocarina website. They have some of the best Zelda ocarinas. The STL one is just a cheap plastic ocarina that doesn't even look like a Zelda ocarina that has a triforce painted on. Hardly worthy of being called a "Zelda" replica.

@TheMicoGirl That's because ocarinas are real instrument. They are not toys and have been around for thousands of years. They are valuable, professional instruments that is worth more than games. No. I can see that you're trying to save money. But unfortunately, if you spend little, you will get little.

My final advice on the matter is get the ocarina that is high quality. Then it will bring you a lifetime of enjoyment.

Spending little on poor quality products is the true waste of money.

The world of online shopping is different now. Songbird website is very safe, safer than Amazon ever will.

The risk with Amazon is that there are no good quality ocarinas. You will be "scammed" as in any ocarina you find will be of poor, worthless quality that is a total waste of money

i am debating what my first ocarina should be the focalink plastic 12 hole that was in this video or a songbird 6 hole sweet potatao legend of zelda ocarina. So which of those two do you think would be good .

@Pointystar1 Personally, I think a 12-hole ocarina is a more versatile instrument (at least for a first ocarina), as it covers a wider range of notes and has an intuitive fingering system. So my choice would be the Focalink

@DRCification I dont think durability will be an issue. Its made of hard plastic, and they're tiny. You would have to do something very rough to damage it.

@Bittersweet123 The ceramic sounds better. It's a full high quality ocarina - professionals have even used it in big concerts (no joke!).

The plastic is cheaper, is made of plastic so it doesn't break. It sounds pretty decent - it's the best 12-hole plastic ocarina I've played. However, it does not sound as good as ceramic.

But hey, I know money is hard to come by when you're young or a student. That's what the plastic ocarina is for. Just to wonder, the Noble Alto C seems to get a bit airy on the highest notes. Would that may be the mic not being able to handle it, or is the airness not noticable when playing? Just wondering, I may consider getting a noble plastic Alto C. Thanks.

The highest notes are a bit airy in real life. But it sounds even more airy in the recording because of the mic.

Plastic 12-hole Alto C ocarinas do have some airiness in the highest notes. Clay ocarinas are best for tone. But for the price and durability of the plastics, they do a pretty good job :)

I don't know, plastic ocarina just seem to be missing something in their sound. They don't sound as full as the ceramic ones, like there's some frequencies missing in the sound. However, it's very minor. For plastic ocarinas they sound superb.

The TNG ocarinas are not very durable. I've had mine for less than two months and it has developed cracks---from wearing the lanyard, not dropping it. STL customer service is horrible and wouldn't even consider replacing it.
