@SuperDx21 Unfortunately, it will be absolute garbage. I highly recommend getting a proper plastic ocarina, like Focalink, as mentioned in this video.
Hi there. I'm thinking of buying Alto C ocarina (I have sensitive ears..., I thought Alto ocarina is better than Soprano). Which you, do you think, is a good one for plastic model: Zin, Solist or Noble? Thank you.
Alto C is definitely better for sensitive ears. I don't have sensitive ears, but even I can't stand Soprano ocarinas lol.
If it was me, I would definitely go for the Focalink plastic Alto C. In my experience, its the best plastic Alto C ocarina - better than Noble, Zin and Solist.
@kissing88 Thank you for your answer. I've been searching around. I guess I need to spend more money for a better Ocarina Alto C hi hi hi. Again, thanks!
@kissing88 Sam, found an online shop in Germany from your youtube channel. I think they sell products of Focalink as well but more expensive. I asked for the shipping cost to NL. If it's not too much difference then I'll buy the one located in Europe.
@kissing88 and everyone else. I got my eyes on a plastic zelda 12-hole ocarina from a webside stlocarinas, does the plastic ones sound just as good as a non-plastic, does they break more easly and do you think they,ll export the ocarina to Denmark? Plz, answer, as i need help.
@TheMicoGirl STL ocarina is the worst ocarina company I have ever encountered. I would not recommend buying from them to save you from their poor customer service, expensive shipping costs and poor quality products.
@kissing88 Then where can i get a cheap one, looking like the zelda ocarina, with a zelda songbook. It musnt cost moer that 200 dkk or 49 uss dollar ???
@TheMicoGirl If you're getting a Zelda ocarina, you might as well get a decent one. Check out Songbird Ocarina website. They have some of the best Zelda ocarinas. The STL one is just a cheap plastic ocarina that doesn't even look like a Zelda ocarina that has a triforce painted on. Hardly worthy of being called a "Zelda" replica.
@kissing88 They are expensive... 500 dkk... Dat is more that the price of a brand new game in Denmark. Maybe i can get my mom to pay some of the money. Oh, and can you send me a mail (to my youtube user) with everything i need to know, like, is they hard to play, does i need some other stuff and so on.
Thanks for the help, you may just have saved my life :))
@TheMicoGirl That's because ocarinas are real instrument. They are not toys and have been around for thousands of years. They are valuable, professional instruments that is worth more than games. If you want to know more about ocarinas, register at The Ocarina Network forum :) There is a lot of information about ocarinas there.
@kissing88 Oh, I'm only 14. My parents don't trust online-shopping. That's why I asked for amazon which is something I can do myself w/o a credit card. But thanks for the suggestion.
@RiceNguyen Tell them they're a trustworthy small business. An ocarina business isn't going to scam people.
The world of online shopping is different now. Songbird website is very safe, safer than Amazon ever will.
The risk with Amazon is that there are no good quality ocarinas. You will be "scammed" as in any ocarina you find will be of poor, worthless quality that is a total waste of money
@RiceNguyen Well, there are also plastic Focalink ocarinas in Songbird website, which are quite inexpensive, but great quality. They don't cost much, so the risk is small
@RiceNguyen I definitely prefer 12-hole ocarinas. They are easier to play, have more range and are simply more practical instruments. But some people like 6 holes. Most professionals play 12-holes
@lordrath2000 Oops, I mean: Songbird doesn't plastic ocarinas. The ones sold on the Songbird website ARE the Focalink plastic ocarinas. Songbird sells some Focalinks.
i am debating what my first ocarina should be the focalink plastic 12 hole that was in this video or a songbird 6 hole sweet potatao legend of zelda ocarina. So which of those two do you think would be good .
@Pointystar1 Personally, I think a 12-hole ocarina is a more versatile instrument (at least for a first ocarina), as it covers a wider range of notes and has an intuitive fingering system. So my choice would be the Focalink
Thanks so much! I've been wanting an ocarina for so long (because I'm a Zelda fan, I'm sure that's shameful in the ocarina community), but I didn't have much cash to drop. So glad I can just buy an awesome blue one for 12 bucks and paint a triforce on it! :D
I have never owned an ocarina. I am not sure whether to get a plastic 12 hole ocarina or a clay pendant ocarina. I will be bringing this along with me to many places.
@asf1187 my top choice would be a Focalink plastic 12-hole Alto C ocarina.
It's a fully capable instrument, but made of plastic so it won't break. Absolutely fantastic instrument and affordable too. Find it at Songbird Ocarina website!
Wow, thank you so much for your review, I was wanting to get myself a pendant style, but was afraid of breaking it, since I am pretty clumsy, even while walking lol, that sussato really caught my attention, so getting one :) Thanks.
i'm trying to buy a plastic focalink soprano C but all the focalink pages say they are "broken" or "Unavailable" any idea why? and is there another place to get them from? please help.
@DRCification I dont think durability will be an issue. Its made of hard plastic, and they're tiny. You would have to do something very rough to damage it.
@kissing88 I'm buying it from songbird and wanna get a Focalink... is there a big difference between the sound of the plastic one vs. the ceramic? Which one would you recommend?
@Bittersweet123 The ceramic sounds better. It's a full high quality ocarina - professionals have even used it in big concerts (no joke!).
The plastic is cheaper, is made of plastic so it doesn't break. It sounds pretty decent - it's the best 12-hole plastic ocarina I've played. However, it does not sound as good as ceramic.
@Bittersweet123 lol it may seem like 'big money'. but think about it this way. A concert standard musical instrument at under $100? It's ridiculously cheap. But hey, I know money is hard to come by when you're young or a student. That's what the plastic ocarina is for. And you'll be surprised at how good a plastic ocarina can sound :) I'm very impressed with my Focalink plastic ocarina.
I did not know plastic ocarinas could sound so pleasing. I have always heard bad things about them. I am getting my first ocarina soon and am thinking about the plastic Focalink Alto C. What do you think?
Wow, I wasn't expecting a plastic instrument to sound so good! But then, my wooden 6-hole flute was about $1.99 from an Arizona gift shop, so maybe I'm a bit unenlightened about serious instruments...

@kissing88 Thanks my brother got me the polycarbonate G from mountain ocarinas a couple of days ago. I like it so far and I think I'm going to stick with it.
@pikminfreak12 then does it make sense to you that I have played the ocarina for several years, I have the cheap blue ocarina, and I'm telling you, compared to the real thing it is junk?
You may think it's 'not that bad' because you haven't tried anything better. When you try a real ocarina, you'll see what I mean. All the best ^^
@pikminfreak12 You can buy from Songbird Ocarinas, which is in USA.
But hey, if you're too cheap to spend another few dollars to buy a proper instrument compared to junk, thats your choice :) Obviously you think you are more of an ocarina expert than me, so I feel no need to offer you further advice.
I really like the throwin' part. lol. Great overview. I got a couple ocarinas I'm planin' to do reviews on, but yours was not bad. Thank you very much.
Hey i got that brown ocarina but when i ordered it the pic looks excactly like it but i got one shaped like a spade still 5 hole and the holes are same size on all and its also saprono
nice ocarina throw at the end, lol, but srsly i'm really considering getting a plastic ocarina now, thanks for making me change my mind cuz i thought all ocarinas were airy and crappy
Just to wonder, the Noble Alto C seems to get a bit airy on the highest notes. Would that may be the mic not being able to handle it, or is the airness not noticable when playing? Just wondering, I may consider getting a noble plastic Alto C. Thanks.
The highest notes are a bit airy in real life. But it sounds even more airy in the recording because of the mic.
Plastic 12-hole Alto C ocarinas do have some airiness in the highest notes. Clay ocarinas are best for tone. But for the price and durability of the plastics, they do a pretty good job :)
the ocarina at the very end of the video its one of the most crapier ocaninas on the market , and its awesome and incredible that many peopple are buying those ones till today
Sam, thanks for the video overview of the plastic ocarinas, I'm just putting in an order for a Focalink thanks to what I heard. Always nice to hear the sound, and opinions before you buy.
It's reviews like these that make me want to spend a small amount of coin on a rather inexpensive but well-made plastic ocarina.
I got a really good laugh out of what you did at the very end of the video. It's a really a good thing that you can do that with plastic ocarinas and not with clay ones :)
I don't know, plastic ocarina just seem to be missing something in their sound. They don't sound as full as the ceramic ones, like there's some frequencies missing in the sound. However, it's very minor. For plastic ocarinas they sound superb.
Great review Sam! Thanks for sharing the info on plastic ocarinas. I'm really interested in getting one now. Possibly the Noble. I have been planning to purchase a Noble bass, but they have not gotten back to me on using a debit card for payment. :(
Oh man! I just brought home the package with my first plastic ocarina from the post office. A Noble Alto C. I'm totally amazed!! Thanks for the reviews!
You've made me want a plastic and my SC to get here even more, but I can't help that in your plastic review, I found the mini most attractive! You're never allowed to sell it, but if you did... You know who to come to... Also, "more stronger breath"? What's wrong with you, man?!
The TNG ocarinas are not very durable. I've had mine for less than two months and it has developed cracks---from wearing the lanyard, not dropping it. STL customer service is horrible and wouldn't even consider replacing it.
My dearest friend Sam...in case you didn't know, your accent is the best! :] I love it. Just saying.

Looking forward to more videos. :)

I thought Debit cards work wherever Credit cards do.

wow... it sounds very good for plastic.
You have to watch my christmas calendar. Vote for something I can do tomorrow. You can ask me to play a song or I could at least try ;-)
