Please fix the TITLES to these videos. Valve covers and head gaskets are NOT the same thing. It's ridiculous that so many people have already commented on this and nothing has been done. Thank you.
Typical American, cant tell the difference between a Head Gasket and Rocker Cover Gasket....Bad to misslead the un informed, This is NOT a head gasket!!
How much is a 88 dodge daytona worth with a blown headgasket? How much you think someone should pay for it? It still runs and drives but it has water in the oil..
@jheibertz Yeah the key in understanding mechanic prices, is that the parts themselves are relatively cheap, its the labor that jacks up the prices. Most charge in the area of $95 dollars an hour for labor
Why you are offending this guy? Offcourse this is not a head gasget but just the valve cover gasget BUT he says that at the very begining, the problem is that expertvillage that uplod this didin''t understand what they writed in the title!!!
And yes is easy than wash the car but I belive that for some guyis very helpfull and that is the real point of it.
A cylinder head gasget is a man job not racing boys!!!
He tells u what he is going to do at the beg of video. If your not listening than its your own damn fault. Its like I tell my 6 year old.......LISTEN!!!!
i'm pretty sure the title says head gasket, not valve cover gasket... not to mention the video skipped probably the most important part of installing a new gasket... proper torque sequence when putting the valve cover back on, nothing like ruining a new gasket because you didnt install everything correctly
All i know is that headgaskets cost over $1,000 worth of repair. You really think it will be that easy to fix for something that costs that much in repair?
You're paying for labour, which over here comes as around £40 per hour. It IS an easy job, but it's scary and takes a while down to the amount of things you have to remove.
"Nathan McCullough graduated from Nashville Auto-Diesel College with a Grade Point Average of 3.5 and received their craftsmanship award and honor seal."
I'll say again, I'm sure Nathan knows the difference between a head gasket and a rocker cover gasket.
If anyone made a mistake, expert village made a mistake. They mistitled the video, but either way gaskets are pretty much all the same so it's the same thing :X
rtv is: room temperature vulcanizing. but seriously speaking i'm into gasket problems on a bi-metal engine, i've taken compression tests to see lost compression on cylinders on one side about 20psi difference plus have almost no oil pressure, timing is off and will be a bitch to reset, cause i have SFI, (no distributer)
I can attest to having been mislead by this video. :) It inspired me to get a greasemonkey friend to help me replace my head gasket, and I was soo discouraged when we took off the valve cover and saw that valve gasket on there.
Two weeks later, after a successful installation, I'm still trying to iron out some timing problems. I suppose it's time to take it to see a mechanic. :(
I was looking to fix my blown head gasket and found this. Misleading title. It will help me fix my valve gasket though. It's a good idea to change out everything while you're there. saves time and worry of something else failing at a later date. I've never changed a head gasket yet but looking into it :P If there are any how to's let me know lol..
Title needs to be changes. Some people will think "wow thats easy, I think I can change my blown head gasket! I cant believe what that shop was gonna charge me!"

so a gasket is just a rubber seal? why does it cost so much to have it replaced?
jheibertz 1 year ago
@jheibertz because thats what repair shops call "getting over on the customer". They only charge so much because of the labor.

I don't think it's Mr McCulloch's fault, he didn't upload the video, it's 'expert village'.

I hate to break this to you Mr. Expert Village, but THAT is a valvecover gasket. I wish a head gasket was just that easy to install...lol
