  • wat was the meaning they guys paying tribute to akas serious question?!?!?

  • cute y'all!

  • Love this video. I see the respect, because they do not have on any AKA official symbols. I think its cute...

  • Skeeee-weeee!!! Awesome! They guy in the front was too serious

  • Skee-wee! Great tribute, fellas :)

  • AMAZINNGGG

  • Lol

  • yo. that shit was fye.

  • that was funny

  • This was SUPER funny!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOORK!!! <3 it!!!

  • that was really cute! lol

  • whatttttttttttttt

    lololll

  • I see you, Bobbee!

  • I liked it!

  • LMFAO!!! they killed that!

  • I'm a Sigma Chi who happens to be an Alpha Phi Alpha legacy and i thought it was great! I've been trying to get my brothers to interact with organizations of divine 9 forever but most of them are so close minded. It's great to see my own brothers from another chapter to show greek relations!

  • we use to have a similar program at Vanderbilt entitled stompfest. All the orgs Panhell, IFC,NPHC, learned about each other. At the end of the day, the people we grew to know through greekdom STILL ignored us on campus when we saw them (white orgs). The gap was NOT bridged and alumni just werent down for that disrespect. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, I think its funny but I do not agree with it at all. My letters cost me something, they mean too much for someone else to play with them.

  • Dude in the front had me weak at his game face, lol. He was so into it!

  • LMAO! good attempt though but hilarious at the same time though...

  • SKKKEEE-WWWEEE they killed it!!

  • I am an AKA and this is too cute! we have something like this at my school too!

  • HAHAHAHA! I am NOT an AKA but they did a great job!

  • Wow....They did a good job.

  • They killed it!!! And I am an AKA ;) get it boys! I love it when schools do the flip flop, it promotes greek unity and I think its awesome! :) Skeee-weeee!

  • Love it, campus unity, we need something like this at UAB.

  • Great job brothers! In Hoc! I was very much entertained by this! Greek unity is a beautiful thing, and I really don't understand the problem that some people have with this video. We should really appreciate this because it is very rare to see black and white Greeks interacting with each other. I wish we could do something like this at my school.

  • @KingSig1855 Thanks bro, I know our campus is privleged to have events where IFC,Pan, and NPHC can equally support each other. In Hoc.

  • @blbell2009 No problem! Hopefully Greek Unity like this across all campuses one day! Keep it up!

  • this was cuteeeeeee. i have to show my AKA friends this.

  • this was hilarious.

  • I'm an AKA and I think they killed it. The ace was on point!

  • hahahaha

  • The ace was gettin' it!

  • i think this is so cute im not in an org of nothing but i think the AKAs would like this i think!!!lol

  • They did a great job!

  • I'm an AKA and I thought it was cute as well

  • I'm an AKA and not offended by this at all. They were quite good actually

  • WOW!!! i'm always impressed at how quickly some black greeks defend the "tradition and culture" of black greekdom when non-NPHC organizations participate in unity events such as this BUT that same "tradition and culture" is completely negated when it comes to BGLOs disrespecting and degrading each other... whats up with that? if you're going to sit up here on youtube and complain about some bullshit, make sure something worth complaining about like the disrespect we show for one another...

  • this was super cute! SKEE-WEE!

  • I am a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha and this gave me a nice laugh :) I think it is tasteful and funny. There's nothing disrespectful or bad about this.

  • I'm not a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha or a greek at all, but I loved this! It was so funny, and I personally think they were just showing respect to their fellow greeks! Sounded like the ladies of AKA in the audience really enjoyed it!

  • I AM AN AKA AND I LOVED THIS!!!!

  • I am an AKA as well! I thought it was super cute and funny!

  • Now I understand the context....its cute. 20 year proud member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

  • I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and I thought it was great. Im glad that the greek orgs out of D9 are embracing each other and learning about each others tradition it should be refreshing to see such unity. I think its all love great job Sigma Chi.

  • The video above is the encore performance, the original :"Sigma Chi AKA Stroll Off - University of Memphis 2011"is on my page

  • Skee-wee's across the board. Good job! Thank you for doing your homework and practice well!

  • They copied this stroll from an established chaoter search: me in the ladys of "Alpha Kappa Alpha AKA ga state.flv"

  • My school has does something like this every year. And every time, the sorority or fraternity that they are imitating makes up the stroll for them. So basically, the routine is approved by the organization before it is performed.

  • I think this is cute....HOWEVER!!!! I do have some concern about the songs choices! As an AKA, i know MY chapter (or imitators, anyone paying homage) would NEVER stroll to a song about busting gats and smoking mary j! Come on now! smh

  • @this12345me I beg to differ Soror. I have seen us stroll to much worse whilst opening our crouches and booty-shaking in hot pants. not a good look. I think they did a respectful tribute...as best as they could with what they could research. And hopefully they worked with a Soror (s) on approval.

  • @tlcarr08 i think you are confused on my point...i dont approve of the crotch poppin either! Leave that to the Rhos! LOL We need to keep it classy...stick to strolling to Beyonce and not Waka Flocka! LOL

  • @this12345me leave it to the RHOS. now I am offended. EVERY sorority have strolls where they shake everything. so please DONT YOU DARE come at my lovely sorority.now lol @ that -___-

  • @badnewzchick08 HAS* strolls....and I'm still LOLing in case you were wondering...

  • @Paragon1913 ...umm If you're not a part of our sorority why are you so worried about who imitates us, go on YouTube and find another sorority to bother...go look for yours, I'm sure it's someone somewhere that has strolled like you guys. It's not our fault that everyone wants to be like the AKAs and no one wants to imitate a Delta...ijs no hard feelings tho

  • .......This is what it's come to? smh

  • Coming from this AKA chapter, and now a graduate, I an not at all upset with this video. Great job for the portrayal Sigma Chi. U people kill me throwing the race card. They weren't taught any secrets and had hopes to unite to different Greek councils that are segregated on SO many different "yards". If "fun" stops the segregation so be it. I am proud of the gentleman and I am MORE proud of my girLS that put this on. Uphold the light and remember service to ALL mankind.

    Good day

    Mye

    Fall 09

  • @iceymymy1 well said Soror. Flip flops are always done in respect and in fun- As an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman myself, I say good job guys!!!

  • Haha nicely done. And btw @neoguardian4 we weren't founded for strolls. They didn't come into play until later. Besides, isn't imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

  • I'm an AKA. Given the context, I wasn't offended. It was funny. I'm not ignorant of my sorority's history, and our symbols are important to me, but I can look at a situation for what it is and have a sense of humor. Strolling/stepping are traditions, but it is NOT what we are about. We are SO much more. Scroll through and look at all the disrespect evident in these comments. So, we have to spew venom at someone else to validate our own opinion? To me, that's where the true embarrassment lies.

  • At the end of the day God can only judge... That's the problem with black people they focus on the wrong thing. It's a shame we take time to focus on this video versus making a positive contribute on the tragedies that are happening amongst black people in our community. At the end of die we all gone die and your focus should be on something else besides this. It's sad how the black community focus on all the wrong things. This is one less thing you all should be worried about...

  • I am not greek but I went to an HBCU and the older I get the more I dislike greek organizations. Clear as day the caption states flip flop stroll day but people are so sensitive. They've taken the fun out of such organizations. I love it, keep having fun and keep laughing - geeze

  • COMPLETE 100% BS!!

  • Cute...SkeeWeeeee!

  • I am an AKA and I was thoroughly entertained. They did a good job =)

  • I think what ya'll are sleeping on, is that the "real" aKa's taught the chi's this step. Greek Unity was the purpose of this function....#easeup

  • What school is this? I found this to be hilarious!

  • I'm an AKA and I thought it was hilarious...chilllll!

  • @BUprettygirl what about they music they are using?

  • @BUprettygirl couldn't they use better song to represent your org?

  • If the AKAs don't care then why should we? I give up. I just know my sorors have more respect for our letters and would NEVER let this happen.

  • @Paragon1913 They weren't in the AKAs letters and no one owns any numbers or colors. Thats number one. Second before you embarrass yourself talking about what your sorors would never do you should know that Greek Switch (or Flip Flop) happens on many campus around the nation with YOUR ORG TOO. I've seen the vids.

  • @soul06 I've already made it clear that if the AKAs don't care then neither do I. However, show me a video and I will respectfully change my comment to, "my chapter would never do that"

  • @Paragon1913 Put "delta sigma theta switch day" in the search and enjoy

  • @soul06 No sir, you have misunderstood my protest. I disagree with non-NPHC orgs participating in switch days.

  • I am a pround finacial and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated!!!!!!!!! People try to imitate all orginizations alll the time. I know it is supposed to be a compliment the biggest form of flattery. I am sure this was cool on thier campus which is what really matters. It is not like they were MIAKA's trying to claim to be us. They simply put forth an effort to try to compliment us. Sigma Chi, I graciously thank you for your attempt. Pink-Ice Skeee - Wee

  • @PinkIceJournies Thank you. This was done purely out of respect and admiration of the AKAs on our campus.

  • All of yall need to kut it out and stop being so damn sensitive ...on here crying like a bunch of bitches , the funny thing is the AKA's aren't even crying about it, stop being soft and smile and honestly if its not your org then cool out.

  • This video had me rolling & the guy in the fron was WORKING IT HARD! I hope somewhere they raised money for charity or something casue this was funny! I did not find it offensive AT ALL!

  • If you are Greek, and you don't see the WACKNESS in this, then I question the hell outta your process.

  • YALL ARE SOOOOOOOOOO WHACK FOR TRYING TO TURN THIS INTO A RACE THING! GET A LIFE! IT WAS GREEK SWITCH DAY.THEY DID GREAT.GET OVER IT. Its not that serious! -AKA

  • @SuperGOALdigger It's not an issue when its the culture of THEIR university. All they did was step and do the Greeks mannerisms. Whats disrespectful about that?

  • I think you all need to shut up. This was not disrespectful, THIS is what you call unity. they did not mock the young ladies so why are you concerned. I think it speaks wodners when different orgs can support and portray each other in a positive light. Period. The AKAs were the alphas, and etc. They all committed to it and it seems like they gave a DAMN good show.

  • Great job guys!! I loved it!! It's great to see Greeks unite and participate in harmless fun! Sigma Chi, I, a proud woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., think you guys did a wonderful job. Colleges across the world have flip flop step shows all the time but this is the first I've seen a fraternity of another race do it...I must say you guys did great! And to my soror @CinderellaWithDreads I agree with you 100% ...Skeewee my soror!!

  • I find this video inappropriate, and as a husband and father of Alpha Kappa Alpha members, and a friend to many others who hold membership in this sorority, I would like this video removed.

Raymond Sean Walters, member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

  • -_-

  • I bet the majority of those complaining aren't even active in their sorority or frat. Good job to the AKAs who put together this event. Phi Skee!

  • Omg to those who r complaining stfu its not that fucking serious it was rather cute and they were accurate with their impersonations. There is nothing wrong with chapters switching for the day. Its called cross cultural learning.

  • Let me also add this. I think there would be a lot of different views on this video if the men had been Black. I'm just sayn! I've seen the Sigmas and other frats do sorority tributes in their stepshows and no one has a problem with it. If you notice the guys did not have AKA or the shield on their shirts. Now that wouldn't have been disrespectful.

  • Kudos to the AKAs at U of Mphs for putting on this event! Gr8 Greek unity. Just Greeks on the yard having a good time. The fraternity men that presented as AKA were great! I saw it in person and was wow'ed by the effort they put into their act. I think it was harmless fun. Sometimes as members of BGLO's we take things WAY to seriously. This was in my opinion harmless. However when it's time to "fight the power" and hold on to tradition, Greeks can't be found. Forget the naysayers!

  • @CinderellaWithDreads Thanks for showing support and not having a bias. Because of people like on our campus we are allowed to have these types of events and that is why other NPHC organizations on our campus encourage IFC/Panhellenic organizations to participate in each others events and vice-versa.

  • @blbell2009 no problem. Ignore the ignorance. You guys did really good! I really enjoyed! Yall could have been AKAs in a past life lol

  • I was the african american strolling in the line and I am sadly appalled at what the comments are showing. Yes we do not know the "meaning" of the signs and We're not supposed too.If we did you would just get mad at that. This event was to promote Greek Unity and it's upsetting that this video is the only one getting attacked when the zetas strolled as the alphas, sigmas as SGRho's, and the AKAs did a joint one with Phi Mu.

  • I feel like the issue is that they aren't apart of the NPHC, because members of the NPHC mimic one another all the time (i.e. step shows). If a fellow Greek disagrees with the whole flip the script shows, then let them. They're entitled to their opinion and beliefs. I don't particularly agree with them, but hey...I'm not out to stone anyone. lol. FYI: Our history doesn't rest upon strolling, stepping, chants, hand gestures, etc...but yet we always wanna throw the "Messing up our roots" card.

  • in ANY Greek switch day no organization knows what another organizations signs or symbols or colors mean. At my college we just participated in a switch day for SGRHO week (& they participated & they were spring 10 oh okay.) We (the AKAs) were the Kappas. Do we know why they throw Yo's? No. Do we know why they wear crimson & creme? No. So what yall are saying is NO Greeks should ever have a switch day? Because I doubt it would be this much commotion if these boys were NPHC Greeks..

    AKA Spring 11

  • @CinderellaWithDreads At first I asked myself, why do AKAs always accept this nonsense, but then I realized that most of them didn't pledge any don't even know what their letters mean. Paper anyone?

  • @Paragon1913 lol Just as you feel the need to call me Paper to prove how "real" you are? lol Please have a seat. Searching for validation on Youtube!! how pathetic lol

  • @CinderellaWithDreads Please, I'm not looking for validation. I was validated the day I crossed those burning sands but clearly the only thing you crossed was a sandbox. Please learn your history and respect it.

  • @Paragon1913 Lmfao girl you are funny. I'm not taking you seriously at all. C'mon your on YOUTUBE! Get a life.. You could have at least said something intelligent instead of tryna bash me. You don't know what I want through so don't question me boo.

  • You posted your opinion on youtube and I replied with my opinion. Don't comment if you can't handle the criticism.

  • @Paragon1913 lol your organization must have been founded to step and stroll all the time..that totally makes sense now on why you take this issue so seriously! hahaha

  • @CinderellaWithDreads Again, know your history. My founders separated from your organization because at that time the AKAs were not interested in social action or the women's movement. That is why the first act of my founders was the women's suffrage march. AKA developed all of its signs, credos, and platforms in 1921 AFTER Delta was created. In an essence, we made you more than a social club. However, the opinions you have stated here indicate that you are still operating as such.

  • @Paragon1913 well..since you're such a genius. In order for an organization to be incorporated all of the signs, credos, and platforms must already be in place!! Also, AKA was at the forefront of the Women's Suffrage March and the Great Migration. So learn YOUR history because AKA is large part of your being. You should have just done exactly as your founders had, and pledged AKA.

  • @CinderellaWithDreads You know what, I'm going to give you a chance to read your history before I completely tear your last comment to shreds. Go ahead and read it... I'll wait.

  • As of member of the divine nine I do not believe events of this nature are kosher.

Stepping and strolling are cultural tradition rooted in the African American experience. We were taken from our land and we only brought our culture. Against tremendous adversities we survived as a people and fused many African traditions, rituals and practices to build our home and culture in America.

  • @CinderellaWithDreads To take stepping and strolling which are products of our cultures and diffuse it amongst non-black greek lettered organizations is to show a lack of respect for ourselves. Stepping is a very spiritual action that invokes an ancestral presence. I am tired of ignorant chapters of the NPHC allowing culturally incompetent white organizations put on black face and belittle something so sacred.

  • @09Damascus Lol so I guess you don't participate in St. Patrick's Day, or Cinco De Mayo because they're not African American. Get the stick out of your butt. A celebration is a celebration no matter the ancestral roots. A lot more Greeks stroll than just NPHC orgs. It was a fun competition. So do you have a problem with NPHC Greeks doing switch days?

  • @CinderellaWithDreads The problem is this is not a celebration. To do so you have to understand one’s history. This is modern-day minstrelsy. How could you be content with another organization wearing your paraphernalia and using your symbols? The guiding light Sister Lyle is rolling in her grave with this nonsense. This is a blatant slap in the face to your founders. How dare you allow some other greeks take what is supposed to be so sacred to you, especially white men!

  • @CinderellaWithDreads The voices of black women have been stifled and silenced for so long. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded to promote the agency of womanhood, an organization sculpted by merit and culture.

A culture you obviously lack! I’m afraid we, a people who were/are traditionally marginalized, have allowed the former or current oppressor to invalidate and dilute our culture.

  • @CinderellaWithDreads I cannot fathom that I supposedly have a stick up my ass, but you my dear a very feeble minded. It is clear to me that your ass has not been touched. Look your ivies are wilting!

  • @CinderellaWithDreads . I cannot blame them I blame chapters of the NPHC who let people into their organization who lack substance and do not hold sacred their organizations brand or beliefs. These individuals see nothing wrong with others wearing their colors, saying their calls, and throwing their symbols. Go back to your history book and take another hour and re-read it.

  • @CinderellaWithDreads Understand why your organization was created to begin with. Anyone who allows this abomination to occur is a threat to their organization and the NPHC as a whole. SANKOFA know your roots, retrieve them, RESPECT THEM. And soror this indeed IS A SERIOUS MATTER! Respectfully a distinguish gentlemen of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

  • well I am a member of the Illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc & there is nothing wrong with this video. They are Greek, it was a competition. So. What. They're Ivies were ON. POINT. They showed out. It's just a competition..get over all this extra history lesson. We know why Black Greek Organizations were founded and we would be just as low to exclude them from this competition because they're white. Dumb. It's a new century. Remember the past so we don't repeat it.

  • luv it! nothing wrong w/ a switch day

  • Also if at the end of the day you feel as though this is disrespectful and that this is case about the preservation of our customs and traditions, STOP PARTICIPATING in these types of events. Judging by the response from the AKA's there they enjoyed it. It was up to them to say hold up, and judging by that response they did not see any disrespect in that, so I am inclined to believe this is not a case of disrespect.

    IPT

    Spr. '99

  • I'm a member of the D9 so I feel as though I can comment on this. I understand the need to maintain our traditions & that is never a joke but I don't this arguement applies here. To my knowledge, this was a greek switch day & this group happen to draw AKA. Now if there was an objection to having this event the time to make that point would be BEFORE the event happens & not after. I saw nothing disrespectful here, if anything it seems like they R gong over the top trying to please the AKA's.

  • events or at their Greek Sing events (in which we don't even participate) but when it comes to philanthropies or education events, nobody even looks our way. So as entertaining as it was to watch, we can't keep allowing these non-NPHC orgs to make us a poppy show & I know for a fact that this would NEVER happen with my org.

    SGRHO

    Spring '10

  • Yea it was kinda funny BUT I don't at all agree with them allowing them to sign or wear their colors/year. They didn't put in the work to be able to do that nor do they even know the meaning behind. On my small campus Pan-Hell/IFC always wants us to teach them how to step & stroll, only to be told "no" every time except by one frat who will remain nameless. We're not around to step and stroll & to be quite honest, its almost insulting to be constantly asked to "perform" (roll call) at sporting

  • and sure they did a 'great' job, but do they know the meaning of some of the things they were doing or do the members that taught them those movements REALLY know what they mean?

I guess being 'cute' outweighs having reverence for your org as an NPHC greek.

    A PHI A

    Fall '05

  • @neoguardian4, --Coming from a Sigma Chi in this video, yes we did learn some of the meanings of certain movements during our stroll routine. The ladies of EE have always been great greek members on our campus and they understand the value and importance of a UNIFIED Greek Community. The reason for this event was just that. Your assumptions are wrong and I hope that you would try and do some research next time before you criticize an NPHC chapter that did something great for our campus!

  • @tricossa and scene.

  • And this is why black greekdom continues to lose grasp of its traditions...please note this not said from a place of bigotry but as one who believes in the traditions and values of all BGLO/NPHC organizations. This is not ok, nor is it cute

Unity is GREAT and needed but letting people imitate a culture that they have little to no knowledge of for the sake of competition, is a slight to why these orgs were founded in the first place.

  • @neoguardian4 are you a member of a NPHC org?

  • @TCRansLo Yes, I'm a Kappa. It's one thing to disrespect an org by making them look weak, it's another to display their routines in a positive light. But do you complain about Greeks who disrespect other Greeks during their probates or step routines? I doubt it because it a part of our culture. Dissing is a part of our culture. Now here you have the exact opposite. They aren't dissing, they are respecting them in light humor. Not to mention we are ignoring the fact all the orgs agreed

  • @neoguardian4 My Take- Im a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Don't be decieved. Stepping was NEVER apart of the aims of D9 organizations. Our aims, traditions, and/or values don't include stepping, however, we do have a common thread. That is service, what we can do you better lives of others through our organizations. The organization of people that believe in being apart of change for the better.

This not to discredit anything you are commenting on. It is only to offer my take.

  • lol... cute

  • I am in love with this.

  • lmao this is too cute !

  • theydid rly good
