Is it just me or at the end of videos it more fits to say 'Fitness Chrissy with tips'. I would always pronounce it wrong way:) I want to tell you that your videos are much more educational that anything else I had found on youtube about proper exercise techniques and what exercise engages which muscles and limitations of certain joints/ muscles. With your advice you helped me already. Bravo! Keep it up.
Good to see you actually gave good advice about retracting the scapula and keeping a slight arch in your back, Ive bagged your form in other videos, but that was better, except for the poor range of motion, you need to work on your flexibility
Oh dear....3 major issues Chrissy with your demonstration:
1: bench press is a major Thoracic exercise being it incorporates shoulders/chest and triceps;
2: Hand placement should positione that your forearms are 90 deg otherwise you increase the load on the elbow joint (as you demonstrated) ...this is not good under heavier loads; and
3: never, ever lift with your grip open!! You incur a less stable elbow flexor.
Barbell Bench press never worked for me in all the the years Ive been working out, with dumbells a little bit, but still not so mutch. Best exercises for chest from my experience are cable flys, dumbell flyes, hammer strength chest machines. Hammer strength chest machines are phenomenal, I wish I would have started using them along time ago.
nice vedio, i love fitness, and i can tell you do too! the information in this vedio was well presented. keep up the hard work! what is your favorite type of workout? and also what do you think is the most effective type of workout if you goal is to get bigger, but stay lean and cut. i love the way working out makes me feel that my number one reason for working out, but im not going to lie i like the way it makes me look. :-)
@snowsportsrule2112 I love working out in general but I hate long distance anything (swimming, biking, running)....I love sprints and love lifting weights!
This is one of the best tutorials! I have a friend in canada who is a personal trainer who taught me the same exact way. It does take getting use to once you have used bad habits for a long time. This is awesome! Keep it up Chrissy!
While I appreciate your comment, I have had a doctor that specializes in human movement evaluate my wrist alignment and in order not to compromise my alignment, I have to have my hands like that. I was benching ALOT of weight with my thumbs wrapped around the bar and caused a lot of stress to my wrist joint.
finally someone who explains it well....i been laying flat doing bench press for a while and havent been able to up my weight but your technique really helped
Shame on you Chrissy!
There are no safety clips on that barbell, lol!

If you can only bring the bar down to "90 degrees" then you shouldn't be doing bench press. You should be working on flexibility.

It is clear you have ARM strength but no chest??

ALSO for building muscles, you need powerlifting, strenght and growth, go hand in hand...
If you not increase your strength, you cannot grow more...

Crissy, benchpress is a powerlift exercise, which means you should use your entire body.
To increase total power.
Not just to build chest muscles.

i think she was really discussing on building the chest muscles, not on powerlifting

You should never have your hands like that, especially if it's a lot of weight.
