It's not really fair to single out Yes for growing old. All my heroes of the 70s are aging. I'm not sure rock n roll is really meant for 60 or 70 or even 80 year olds to continue to try to mimic their youth.
Thanks Benoint for trying. I appreciate it. Hopefully the next singer can put some vocal muscle into it. Anderson? Yes that would be great, but I wonder if he could perform at full strength for any length of time. He nearly died a few years back due to acute respiratory failure.
Chris already hinted that he wouldn't rule out working with Jon again, , should they do one more album with lineup?- they only made one album in 1980 . like someone else said , these guys are close to 70 now, its amazing they still perform at all. Bill Bruford retired.
Like other great bands(Moody blues) they don't know the meaning of retire or vacation.. On the fly from here album, Benoit is flawless and amazing. No one will ever replace Jon, so why make comparisons?
@apleasantsymmetry Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami, Jordan Maxwell and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well. p.s. Melting Euphoria is similar to Ozric Tentacles and Gong.

Funny how some moron says don't judge but then judges people who make comments on how they personally feel about the video and yes. Since I live here in the USA I will continue to express myself as I see fit, regardles of what anyone else thinks or says because it's my RIGHT TO. So to me, this video SUCKS and they don't sound the same as in the 70s when I started listening to them and going to their concerts or even the early 2000's when I last saw them. That buggles remake is just pathetic.
Fantastic performance. Ok, its not the 1984 performance in Germany (that was f**king amazing) but still its brilliant. YES really are a Super Group, unique sound and music excellence.
Reading though these posts there definite pattern, those who have recently seen yes sing praises of the excellence, how good they are live, how they are as good(if not better than they have been before). Then there are those who have not recently seen them, they just watch these videos with their poor sound quality and turn to slating what is still one of the best live acts on earth. I only have one word of advice, don't judge until you have seen heard and experienced this line up live.
@waltinco51 have you seen the lately, my guess is not, This video does not do the justice. live they are unbelievably good, Unfortunately it was the fist time I had seen the, but the person i was with said it was the best yes concert he had been to , better than the 70's better than the 80's better than the 90's and better than 2003. How dare you post such untruths when you know nothing.
I saw them (UK) two weeks ago and it was a fantastic gig. Tiny videos shot through gadgets do not do gigs any justice and are not a good basis for armchair judgements. Chris Squire played bass notes on a pedal board (cant even hear them on this) which were so deep my jeans were flapping.
The set lasted two hours with very tight playing. I don't know many current bands that CAN play this kind of stuff, never mind play it well 30 years later. Shit songs are easy to play well.
Jon Anderson would sound better singing in a coma than Benoit David on his best night. I could barely keep my lunch down while TRYing to listen to this.
The upholsterer is too deliberative in his rendering. Squire needs to suck it up (and that's a huge wine gut!) and beg Jon to come back with stipulations that his songs get their fair play!
Yes... please.. I know Benoit is a very nice guy, but this is way out of his league. Please get a singer that can front the band properly. there are men in a church choir that can carry a note better than this.
I don't have a problem with the musicians. last I heard steroids are legal for rock n' rollers.. get them some, it might help...
How sad. Oh how the mighty have truly fallen. This is an embarrassment. I have seen them on tours dating back from the '70's and this is without a doubt the low point. There comes a time when all things must end, and to say they we are "lucky" to see and hear this, clearly are hearing and seeing what they want. The fact that, Fly From Here sank faster than the Titanic bears out the fact that it is over, the majority of the fans don't want this and it is time to end this monumental charade.
The issue with Benoit David isn't whether or not he sounds like Jon Anderson. The issue you will find in watching a lot of their live performances (like this one, among many others) is that Benoit is often very sharp when trying to hit high notes. Other points he's off key, and it's very noticeable. Too often for a professional.
the most pathetic saddest thing to ever happen in music..those of you that comment anything positive..your clueless...yes does not deserve this..how can he be on stage singing
This is so bad I want to cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Benoit David sounds worse by the minute! Chris plays half the notes he use to play. Steve is 1,000,000,000,000,000th of the way he use to play. alan plays like the drum stick weigh 1,000 pounds. Geoff needs alot of practice. He's no better than Oliver was. He use to be but no more.
This lineup is taking the money and running. They couldn't care less about playing these songs anymore. This is a forced effort. This is not Going for the one, its more like going through the motions. Even if Jon was there it wouldn't help. They haven't had a real YES sound system and musicianship since 1979. This is an embarrassing Starship Trooper. Off key and weak. Listen to the 1978 Wembley version. It's like having $1,000,000 in your bank account. This version is like having $1.
YES - 1971 to 1979, TOTAL PANDAMONIUM. MSG 1978, In The Round, Pandamonium beyond human levels. Yes now is like a piece of ice that has melted to nothing! This is an embarrassment. I don't know how they can't stand up there and abuse the songs they use to play to perfection in ALL WAYS!!! This is a bland, dressed down pathetic joke! It's like the songs are nude. If Yes played like this in the 1970's this 2011 show would have not happened.
We have been talking about The Fragile tour 1971/ 1972 Close to the Edge tour in 1973, Tales From Topograpic Oceans, Relayer tour 1974 -1976, Going for the One tour, 1977/ tormato tour, 1978, 1979 for 32 - 40 years. The greatest shows ever. Best sound/ musicianship EVER!!!! We will be talking about this 2011 weak joke show for 2 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geoff is a great keyboards player, but here he seems to just be interested in making a noise on the keytar. Very strange. Especially when you see how good he is in Asia.
@ginaonthebass Seeing them in Nijmegen in November? I am and I'm hoping they'll perform more of their latest material from Fly From Here instead of songs from the '70-ties. I think it's more exiting to hear for example Into The Storm, Mad Man At The Screen than to hear Starship Trooper over and over again. Specially with this line-up it is not what YES should be performing on stage any more. Fly From Here means a new area and they shoul leave the past and continue doing new things.....

But come on guys, Yes need to retire, when two long term important members leave or get fired, its time to move on and stop living in the past and making money from people through lackluster performances.
