  • You haven't been here long enough, Jason.

You are in a better place now, and you will be missed.

    Rest in Peace brother.

  • @GMGvanS has he died?

  • @gralo5 He sadly passed away about 6 days ago. OilTheGun has made a video about him (so did many others) and he put a link in the discription to an article. Very very sad, rest in pece Jason.

  • @GMGvanS he is dead??

  • I love this knife, hard to believe it is so cheap. Amazing!

  • EVERYONE THIS KNIFE IS ASSISTED OPENING I HAVE BOUGHT THIS KNIFE WITHOUT KNOWING THIS AND AM DISAPOINTED

  • @GoldenTrout4 No this knife is not assisted opening, I don't know what knife you have purchased but there is no assisted opening Ontario Rat 1. It contains no spring mechanism and opens solely with the power of your thumb pushing the thumbstud.

  • @hathcocked THANKYOU I was scared, i did buy this knife ontario rat 1 from amazon i just assumed it was from everyone doing flinging it open. it has not arived yet so am nervous and making bad assumptions makes me look stupid. SORRY EVERYONE AND THANKYOU FOR CLARIFYING HATHCOCKED APPRECIATE IT GREATLY AND I JUST SUBSCRIBED.

  • @GoldenTrout4 No problem at all, I'm always here to help if I can. The modern folders these days come out so fast I could see someone thinking it might be assisted. You should be good to go, thanks for the sub I appreciate it!

  • @GoldenTrout4 idiot

  • @GoldenTrout4 why would it matter if it was assisted. you can carry one. you cant carry a switch blade

  • @xxbryan715xx because in the state where i live you can only carry an assisted blade that is 2.5 inches you should probably check your states or counties knife laws. I also use this knife while hunting hiking fishing alot this is my opinion but an assisted opening knife (in my opinion) is a little less reliable because theres more parts to fail.

  • @GoldenTrout4 if that were the case then you could just take the spring out...

  • @GoldenTrout4 what state? I thought the assisted was made legal in ever state, blade length might be a different story, curious, I will look it up

  • Paper is one of the worst things to cut with a knife it makes it blunt very fast

  • if you like no play get a kabar

  • Just got mine in the mail today ... Nice review

  • do you know if the rat 1 is discontinued? and do you think i can get knives like spydercos, gerber, ontarios, etc, or any fenix or quark flashlights at a border like el paso, or laredo?

  • @HarseyAirRanger I don't think they have discontinued the Rat 1, I still see them in stock around the web. I am not sure about picking up this kinda stuff around a border, you would have to find a place that stocks it. Is it hard to get stuff shipped to Mexico?

  • yes it is hard to get things shipped to mexico, they should not be more expensive than 100 dollars and the companies doesnt make themselves responsible if the product is missing or is in bad conditions, there is also a law here that you should be business people or own a store to get things imported from other countries, thats not a problem as my mom owns a pharmacy but its too risky to get shipped things

  • @HarseyAirRanger Man I'm sorry to hear that. It has to suck to see all the cool stuff on youtube and not be able to easily buy it.

  • why do some websites list ontario rat 1 folder with a 3.2 blade while others is a 3.6 blade? could someone tell me the difference and why is it priced differently?

  • I highly recommend for you to read a book of five rings by miyamoto musashi.

We are proud Japanese blade nation here.

US business people are very smart making outstanding weapon at foreign cost.

I got this knife just for curiosity, and spyderco tenacious. I like both of them. Like the Rat1 blade shape better, but sypderco I think is higher quality (material).

  • @urkingod The book of 5 rings and Hagakure and 2 of my favorite books. I have practiced Eishin-Ryu Iaido form's for many years as a hobby. I had a pretty severe injury that has kept me from doing it but I hope to get back into it soon.

  • rub the handle with beeswax or bowstring wax (not my original idea)

  • I have Purchased a few Of These---Great Knife ! Your Right,nutnfancy Is The man !!

i"ve purchased some knifes,as Well as Rifles,And pistols ,after watching his reviews,Always have been satisfied !! Great vid!!

  • @tdawgee Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • nice review like the finish nice backdrop for the video

  • hey good review

  • Thanks!

  • Great knife. I got 2 of them.

  • ANYONE:

Witch would you prefer, regardless of the price? Just the quality; a Spyderco Tenacious or an Ontario Rat 1 folder?

  • the rat

  • Thanks for the review...I'm also looking for a new edc knife and I was gonna get a Benchmade Vex...but now I want to get this knife but Im not sure if I should get the black or satin..do you like the black finish??? or would u recommend getting the satin? Thanks!

  • I think the black finish looks great but it wears very poorly, as nutnfancy pointed out it's basically paint. Personally it doesn't bother me if a knife shows wear through use but your taste may very. If that would bother you I would recommend the satin version.

  • Thanks for the reply...I think im gonna go with the black finish

  • No problem, I am sure you will love the knife.

  • Ontario makes great blades, Nice and American. I own the Marine Combat, it's a tank. The way you open it makes it look like a Automatic.

  • After carrying this knife for awhile now I am definitely a fan of Ontario. I plan on picking up a marine raider.

  • ha I got one of tese knives on the way to me in the mail, but it is made in taiwan, not usa.

  • hey did is off topic on knives but what kind of camera do you have? Is a camera or a camcorder?

  • It's an old 5mp Sony Cybershot DSC-P10 camera with a basic movie mode.

  • Yeh dude, it said I was gunna get mine in the middle of Feb. and got it on like Jan 10th! Sweet review man.

  • Thanks, Yeah I was very surprised when mine showed up out of no where.

  • hey did you ever get the tenacious? btw im getting one, its in the mail so i will tell you how i like.(if you dont already have one)

  • I haven't yet but I plan on it. I am thinking of ordering a spyderco sharpmaker so I might get the tenacious at the same time.

  • spderco sharpmaker is a great sharpener, i have a video on it.

  • on your lanyard did you keep the internal cord in it or did you take it out?

  • I always leave the internal cord inside, I don't like to weaken it.

  • nice video

  • Thanks!

  • Nice vid, now post all the titles to the books you had for your set. i spent most of the time on my second viewing trying to figure them out.

    later zenlogic.

  • Hah! Walden by Thoreau, The Outdoor Survival Handbook by Ray Mears, One Man's Wilderness by Keith/Proenneke, Self Reliance by Emerson, The Road Not Taken by Frost, The Art Of Japanese Swordsmanship by Suino and Flashing Steel by Shimabukuro/Pellman.

  • I just got mine two days ago! I got satin combo. I love it the serations are awsome on this knife. I got mine from cornerstore as well.

  • Glad to hear you like it, I wish I would have picked up a combo edge as well when I made my initial order.
