  • Never liked Max's form. So rigid and robotic and lacking feel.

  • it's not really fair comparing the kid to his dad... max has had decades of experience ahead of him... second, he may have introduced the kid to music but he left him alone to find his own style & choose his own genre...

  • Wow his son is awful...

  • what song is this?

  • Also, Max is so much more refined. I don't mean to bash Jay, but it's too chaotic.

  • jebus, Jay is beating the crap out of those drums. I feel so BAD for them!

  • 5:24 It's okay I didn't like that stick anyway.

  • Sounds great!

  • they make the drums sing

  • one of guitar center drum offs best skit ever!

  • Wow! I think this vid proves how amazing Max is by having to play alongside that terrible sounding son of his... Always ahead, just waving his arms for fills & just never grooving... Poor guy, could have been amazing if he had let his Dad teach him.

  • how cool... remember that just as in sports, you wont be as successful as as your dad. jay is great, but dad was Springsteen.

  • Dad: +1000

    Son: -1000

  • Jay's got nothing on his dad. Bad sound, bad time, and he plays waaay too hard!

  • @persnoozer at 0:26 id say jay hit the pocket perfectly, and its all jammin from there. I didnt hear him lose time or sound bad, just different style

  • great, thanks

  • except that buddy was completely against the "standard grip"

  • anyone notice they r playing the old and new of buddy rich, and his vid is on the big screen?

  • This really shows who has played Jazz before and hasn't :P Jay is still a great drummer, just his Dad could have taught him a few things about Jazz. I love Max though :D It really showcases different styles, and I kinda dig it.

  • @orangecountydrums44 jay refused to let his dad teach him..they are both sick

  • the kid is a hack compared to his dad!

  • Does someone knows which songs are they playing?

  • @BloodOnMyLips1985 They're playing Sing Sing Sing.

  • @MakilHeru Who's make this song? Gene Krupa?

  • 5:23 it ain't over until a stick gets broken.

  • @MakilHeru think he just lost it

  • I was in a shitty mood when I clicked on this video and I was sitting here brooding but I couldn't help but be in a good mood listening to it.

  • omg

max is so goddam smart and know how to act spontaneously

    5:24

  • this is for all of you, the brain dead? from buddy rich and phil ambros what a joke?

  • The master and his apprentice. Freaking awesome!

  • 5:22 i loled because it's happened to me before.

  • Would be funny if Conan slides to the middle of the stage, and does his little entrance.

  • I don't know if it's they Jay is not a good drummer (I want to think he is), but a lot of the time Jay is not locking in the tempo with Max. He should stick to punk and indie rock instead!

  • GO AWAY DANCERS

  • @CorpseGrinder006

    get it? dance space

  • Now I wanna see them do this song separately and see how much each of their styles differ. Plus I just wanna hear the killer stuff Jay does :P

  • max is bad ass dude

  • dude, mi BIG respect to max weinberg he's a master but his son it's just terrible he even doesn't have technique and out of groove.. and i can continue to criticize him but i only have 325 letters!!!

  • It's hard to listen to when they're grooving together, because the Jay is ahead of the beat most of the time. It's like there's an echo.

  • Jews know how to fucking drum

  • That was nuts!

  • jay is definitely different style wise from max. and max has said so himself. max has more of the jazz big band background while jay has only the influence from his dad. max never taught jay. Jay refused to let him teach him things. but its cool to see jay successful in his own drumming ventures

  • wow!!! brethtaking :D

  • someone likes thomas pridgen

  • It's cool to see father and son jam it out. I always enjoy watching Max rip it up, and it was really cool to see both of them use their own styles during the song.

  • That Son is how Dad does it!!!!!

  • I haf to say Max took his son to school in this one. That's real drumming. :-)

  • @outlaw6066 definitely!!!! "Hey son, don't rush your fills, here's how its done!!!"

  • That's classy: wearing a suit, chewing gum, smiling all the time and making it look the easiest thing in the world.

  • Anyone can hear that Max is Absolutely F'in Great !!! Haters.... leave Jay alone. You just wish you had those Genes...and a Dad like that to teach you!

  • If only "like father like son" were true here...

  • that kid blows

    the older man is sick

  • i bet it would've been sick to see max teaching jay way back in the day

  • Max reminds me of Krupa so much. If you to took away his glasses you wouldn't be able to tell.

  • These comments either to me in a mean way or to each other proves my point----there aren't too many PRO musicians left, just a bunch of spoiled, egotistical no talents is what's left----Max is for real, the kid shouldn't be in the spotlight YET.All of you go home and listen to some real drummers.Steve Gadd,Vinnie Colaiuta,Virgil Donati, then get in the practice room and REALLY---Get a good teacher.

  • Don´t those of you who critize Jay evert thought about the years between those guys are about 40 years !!!!!!

I think Jay is amazing and he will always been compared to his dad and that isn´t fair.

Max is a GREAT drummer and i don´t think Bruce would allowed Jay to play in the E-Street Band if he wasn´t good.

  • max is fantastic!

  • Jay, take some valium and watch daddy closely.

  • Sorry, but the kid is extremely average, and he has played with the Boss as well!!!! I'm sure he'll improve, but at this level,I have 12 year old students that are better!!! I have always liked Max----four pc kit,and improving himself all the time.

  • @ralfodrum I totally believe that you have 12 year old students that are better. Wait? Are we talking about drumming or keeping quiet after you molest them?

  • @gake

    Not even funny.Keep it real.

  • Through my nine years of playing I've found my style progressing from Jay's wild aggression towards Max's more controlled and relaxed style. Nothing wrong with either one, but I only revert back to my old ways if I'm playing Moon or Metal.

  • Jay looks like Dave GRohl sort of.

  • get those feakin dancers out of the way! i'm trying to see the Weinbergs!

  • @iheartdonut i agreee

  • he has a weird mustouche.......

  • Who else thinks that Jay drums like Keith Moon?

  • what song are they drumming too?

  • @THETRUEWOMBATS This would be sing, sing, sing....theres many versions

  • i love thi s video cuz u can can see the diversity between age group and genres of music //////// write comment if agree

  • I respect Jay's performance here... I think he did extremely well considering he's not a big band player and he's trying to stay true to his style of play through the song

  • Jay's snare sounds like the bottom head is busted, and overall his playing sounds cluttered and like he's trying to stuff too much into each bar. The win goes to Max, imo.

  • Sorry, but if Jay wasn't max's son he wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the stage - let alone playing on it. He's probably good for whatever else he plays, but this isn't it.

  • I like that max went new school with his i-pad for his set list and jay went old school with his set list wrote it on his snare skin.

  • I like max more, he have an awesome style, while jay in my opinion is to crazy

  • if this was a compepition between the two max wins hands down

  • Max on Jay with Guitar Center Drum Off Watching

  • Flam fest up in heeeeeeeeeeeere!

  • I love the way Max is wearing a suit, whilst casually drumming and smiling the whole time

  • @Hoolihan14 That is what you call a real jazz drummer

  • @Hoolihan14 Yeah, he's definitely more jazz. I've seen a lot of jazz drummers perform and he looks just like they do, plus a fancy suit. Jay ought to stick to metal.

  • @Hoolihan14 Max is a class act, the drummer's drummer. Play for the music, not for yourself. A true pro, weather it's Springsteen or late night tv Max will always have a gig because he serves the music.

  • Nice video :) i've seen them both live with Bruce and the E Street band and i like them both. It's two generations of drumming. Max does it old school and Jay more modern and metal/punk style!

  • if everyone likes max so much and his style of playing... why isnt there any popular big bands anymore like buddy rich and gene krupa... i dont get it they should be all over the place

  • @hobes9 you just have to know where to look i guess. they aren't mainstream anymore. wish they were.

  • the kid is 20 years old, keep that in mind, haters. and he's wearing a GG Allin shirt and plays in hardcore, punk, and metal bands.

  • It's kind of the same way I feel about Nick Rich (Buddy's grandson). A sloppy player who has no finesse, and bad technique. Plus they both look like douchebags, Jay less so.

  • I bet Max didn't even shed a single drop of sweat although he was fully suited!

    What a Star!!

  • the kid is makeing it more of an effort than necessary and his dad is makeing it look soo easy

  • @iluvkstate I d'ont understand, do you know what is this song?

  • @iluvkstate wrong... "Sing Sing Sing"

  • max is good as hell. his son has ways to go. but still good

  • ...what Jay is doing has nothing to do with Jazz...or Swing...his old man has far more feel, groove and anything that makes you wanna dance...Max plays the drums...Jay beats them...

  • i have a new love for jazz and swing music!!!anyone know the name to this song?

  • Thats Max's son?? Max looks so calm.. and Jay looks.. Dysfunctional, and like he shouldnt be playing something like thiss... Maybe some Metallica. Yeah thatll work.

  • what is this song?

  • @mazraty The song is called "Sing Sing Sing"

  • @Dojora4 thank you so much :)

  • Jay is not good....he must goes to school...now!!!

  • @MrLucoresna Every drummer has their own way how to express themselves.. U should now if you are a responsible musician...

  • Old school and new...WOW

  • keep loling at 5:24

  • Great relationship but the old boy does more with less kit. I think Max displayed one moment of composure throughout whilst 'Daddy' Jay kept everything in sync making the 'nipper' sound better than he actually is.

  • I'm not to sure if jay even switched on his snare....christ, it sounds horrible

  • he's son is hack.

  • Come on guys, it's a DRUM-OFF, not a DANCE-OFF !

  • jays snare sounds like a paper bag

  • jays snare sounds like a paper bag

  • Max reminds me of Charles Ofdensen.

  • i cant stop watching this video lol

  • so crazy how different of style he is from his dad...

  • I can't believe I haven't seen this before now! Incredible.

  • Haha, Max's stick flew out of his hands at 5:20

  • Sweet video...Jay is pure power and Max is smooth and cool. Two completely different styles, both are awesome.

  • oh max, why u left conan??!?! :((

  • Max is 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better

  • Jay Killed it people! Max played old school and Jay had to play old school but he used new chops. Play something new and Max would of sounded bad.

  • Freakin' awesome...

  • fuck the dancers off. there in the way of the drums.

  • that is one cool dad!!!

  • max wins this round. easily.

  • Max hits HARD wow!

  • I'm not going to say Jay sucks but he was embarrass to watch.

  • gotta love max. to bad connan o brian isnt on any more so i can have my max weinberg fill

  • @Jrim615 umm, he's on TBS now, show just finished it's first week. But Max isn't part of the new show, which is what I think you meant

  • @XNSever yea

  • Such a great show

    They can read eachothers minds!

  • Such a great show. They can read eachothers minds!

  • such a great show. They can read eachother minds!!!

  • his sons stuff is like too busy. busy can be good but like he is just trying to play a shit load instead of making it sound good

  • his son is the reason why crack the skye was produced by brendon obrien

  • HOW BAD DOES IT GET I WAS A DEAR FRIEND OF GENE KRUPA IF HE LOOKED AT THIS HIS HEART WOULD BURST DRUMMERS I DON,T THINK SO BULLSHIT YES????????????ONLY ASS HOLE,S WOULD LIKE THIS SHIT NOT A REAL DRUMMER AND MAX MAKES MONEY AT THIS

  • @MrDrumsPhilAmbros Yes, you are retarded.

  • its a DUET, not a DUEL.

    not a fucking competition ¬¬

  • 5:24 FAIL. lol

  • @xxDarkAwpxx your entire life is one big fail so shut up

  • @hobes9 well that's not very nice.

  • @stewardsultry yeah.

  • im actually related to these guys. my dad was friends with max as a kid. i still havent gotten to meet them tho

  • Comment removed

  • what's the name of the song?

  • @eleegepe songs called " Sing, Sing, Sing " Which was most famously covered by Benny Goodman and his Orchestra

  • @gargantua4 thanks a looooooooooot :D

  • Lol, Max got so into it at 5:23 he loses a stick.

  • The classy father and the wild youth of a son, gotta love it!....I wish my dad played drums!

  • At about 1:56 Jay loses or throws his stick and didn't miss a beat

  • This has got to be the best night ever for both father and son.

  • youth makes not a good drummer nether do sperm it takes calm precision the best drummers don't move from the shoulders up like the drummer from Cheep Trick that guy will have an ash on his cig 3 inches long during a solo if this kid had a cig in his lips he would burn himselfe

  • Jay fucking rules!

  • why in the fuck they have gay dancers??!!

  • Rocking out while wearing your best suit BOOOYAAAH

  • One of the best duets that I've ever been worthy of witnessing!

  • Jay is caotic, Max is a perfect mix of precision and power! In my opionion Max totally owned the son..

  • @Comunistamilanese Yes you are totally right

  • @Comunistamilanese well said. plus he does more with less drums. such a talent!

  • @Comunistamilanese well said. plus he does more with less drums. such a talent! and the kid's using a double bass pedal. thats cheating where i come from.

  • @PeteWojMusic i guess people like neil peart are cheating...

  • @PeteWojMusic

    Cheating?

    How so?

Just enhancing. There's simply things that you cannot do without it.

  • @ilikelemontrees tony royster can almost use his right foot faster than both of his hands search "tony royster jr. dw performance series"

  • @tubaeuphboyemk4

That's cool, but he still can't go as fast with as he could if he used a double pedal.

  • @ilikelemontrees actually, on tony's regular kit he has a triple bass lol
