  • great tip well illustrated thanks. I've got a new bike and am new to hydraulic discs and this worked perfectly

  • this actually works and it is awesome it fixed my bike

  • Brilliant! Thank you thank you!

  • It freakin worked. Awesome.

  • Gee zuss... how blinkin simple!

    Back brakes were harder!

  • Dude. Thank you. So simple, but I would have never thought of that technique on my own.

    Thanks!

  • Great video really helpful but is this how you tighten them because I need to loosen mine as they rub. How do I loosen them?

  • ok.. so i tried this method.. But i turned the screws too far and there was some leakage of oil. They still brake despite the loss of oil.. but i am thinking their is some rub because i bought the bike today and they are brand new... i don't use the front brake much anyways but i hope a little hydrolic oil spilt wont hurt.

  • lol there was no sound but it still sounded sweet

  • thank you , you really helped

  • Can ı do the same thing to the hydraulic disc brake ( back one ) ? Please help

  • Thank you!!!! You have saved me from pulling my hair out!!!

  • Great simple video and advice. Cheers

  • 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg sssssssssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooo cccccccclllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Thanks one side of the pad was rubbing. The last time had to take it to bike shop. Happens when I do indow

  • Wow! Just saved me a trip to the bike shop. Awesome! Thanks a bunch!!!

  • Super simple and effective. I had a very, very, very lite rub from brand new and its been driving me crazy. Good job.

  • Thanks for this video worked like a charm.

  • Totally worked. Took 2 minutes. Thanks.

  • Gonna try it now.

    Hayes mechanical.

  • @HIONHELIUM I knows its late but on the hayes mechanicals it f***ing sucks to adjust them i had a really hard time getting to be just right. Once you get it once tho its fairly simple any other time.

  • watch out people this doesn't always work so you might need to adjust it by eyes.

  • I don't have a clue about maintaining or adjusting disc brakes... well i didn't before watchin this. Worked like a charm and took a total of 3 minutes out of my day... including watching the vid. Thanks!

  • Is that a 2005 kona shred?

  • Took me 1 minute to watch this vid, 1 minute to make the adjustment. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • simple but effective.....cheers

  • cheers mate..

  • hmmm still didn't work for me.... :(

  • hmm it still didnt work :(

  • Nice, now why doesnt the manual have instructions this simple? Thanks!

  • many thanks

  • Wish I would have checked the comments to see if this was for mechanical or hydraulic :-s

  • This saved my day. Thank You :)

    /o\

  • you could of told me this is just for mechanical disks mine are hydraulic and when i loosened the caliper and then pressed the brake... yeah, squirt now i need my braked bleeded and then i need more oil in my tubing, damn :/ not putting a thumbs down cuz its my fault for not resizing what was just about to happen

  • @mAnclTy hey beavis - he loosened the mounting bolts on the fork which is the same on mech or hyd. no one told you to open the hydraulic line.

  • are these hydraulic disc breaks? Im lookn for a good guide to adjust mechanical disc breaks..

  • @Kryteris its the same thing... you loosen up the screws that hold the caliper. it doesnt matter if its mechanical or hydraulic... the mounting screws are the same

  • Thanks Man, you help me and how can I repay you

  • What an incredible fix! Thank you so much!

  • U made my day

  • nice thank you! i'm new to biking, but love it. this was the only issue i had when i got my Schwinn

  • i did that and no changes

  • I cant believe it was that bloody simple! just saved me paying a mechanic to do that sorta shit :) any advice on re-greasing a bottom bracket?!

  • awesome...easy fix. Exactly what I needed to do...thanks!

  • @david292978 you're a fucking dick head.

  • Wow that was easy...thanks a ton!!!!!

  • will this stop my disc brake from screaching when i brake?

  • shit vid

  • Thanks for the video! I just got hydraulic XTR disc brakes installed in my bike in a far away shop, I have a race on Sunday and I didn't know what to do to fix it! Pretty simple! Lemme go and try it out!

  • hold up! is it sapose to be like that? your disc brake are suppose to be on a slight inwards angle no? if you listning it up then clamp there gona straightn out.

  • THANKS!!! just what i needed :D

  • thank you so much, that was a big help

  • nvmd i just losened it then moved it around and it was fine.

  • it was fine for me until my tire back popped and the i had to take off and replace, put back on and it rubs. i did this and i didnt work. i have hayes mx4. please help:(

  • david292978; you really are a tool. how anyone who loves bikes can condone stealing bikes is beyond me.

  • Best video yet! Simple and it works.

  • i do that what youcve just done but when i ride it still rubs help plz

  • i love this video, "listen to the sweet sound of rub free spinning" yur a good man

  • this is dope, thanks alot bro, some crack head sold me today a 1500 dolar specialized bike for 20 buks, everythings new exept the disc brakes are a little fucked, i was gonna take it a bike shop but somebody told me they check the serial numbers on the bike, so this video helped a ton, god bless you

  • @david292978 You probably just brought a stolen bike. You fucking knob. Well done.

  • @randyblandy so the fuck what, you square head.

  • @david292978 Well heres the thing. Firstly out there, theres some guy who probably enjoyed riding that Specialized, But now he's redundant to walking for thrills. Secondly you have financied crime. You've given an Incentive for the Criminal to commint crime for the promise ofmoney. This inturn increases your taxes to be spent on unnecessary prevention of this shit. So find the owner, give it back, Increase your Karma, conscience and society. How'd you feel if your possesions where stolen?

  • how do you adjust the sensivivity of the brake levers so they are like new, or that you dont need to pull them in much to engage.

  • i still dont understand how loosening up the bolts helps, it has nothing to do with the oil presure so why does it work? by the way i have try'd it and it does work but it boggles my mind why

  • @jackthedog1234 It works because this is assuming the caliper is not aligned properly with the rotor. This forces the caliper to line up with the rotor, so when the brake is released, it's still lined up.

  • great video man! i tried it though and when the bolts are loose it doesnt rub but then i hold the brakes down and tighten the bolts back up and it starts rubbing again? what do u think could be causing this? im using Saint calipers. Let me know if u got any useful info tht might helpme out. Thanks!

  • @informasean same here! exactly the same problem

  • its not working on my avid elixir r :(

  • works !!!

  • i haved to do this before i touch the red caps and now my disk is hooked :/ but will do it on the new one :))))))))))

  • does this work for a devinci wilson??

  • i have a commencal mtn bike and when i pull the frent brake it makes a funny sound

    it uses brake flued

  • Thank you so much, simple and very useful!

  • Thanks Mate

    nice simple vid

    5 star

  • then i think my rotor is bent, sometimes itll spin good, like 2/3 rotaton, and then you can hear it rubbing against the pad for 1/3 or so rotation

  • @rcpro88 same thing with me...its all rub free exept for 1 piece

  • @rcpro88 yea thats wat mine does

  • Awesome! Thanks.

  • excellent - done in seconds !!

    good work fella ...

  • I loosen wrong screws, so the oil pumped out!

  • Good show sir. Thanks for the tip.

  • Update. I found my cones were way too tight. I loosened the cones enough so that the hub would turn freely but without side to side wheel wobble and that is what stopped by brake pad rubbing on the disc. Apparently QR wheels will tighten the cones so you can allow a tiny amount of play before fitting the wheel. If all else seems okay, check your cones

  • Didn't work. After taking my front wheel off to grease the spline it seems the disc angle is not the same as the pad angle so there is contact. Won't even do a full rotation when spun. I have removed and refitted the wheel several times but no change.

  • Totally worked on my intense 5.5! Keep up the solid easy to follow tips!

  • you truly are a god!!! thankyou

  • Cracking. Thanks dude.

  • Help, i tried this and now my brake wont rebound back, it just clicks when i pull the leaver now and stays in the closed position.

  • this does not work for me....

  • YES it worked, genius! I believe that all instruction manuals should just say "youtube it" or "google it"

  • worked a treat, thanks!

  • doesnt work. tried it on my month old Avid Elixir R set. the clearance between the rotor and brakepads is about this | much | about the width of a sheet of paper. is that normal?

  • Mine seem to spin 'rub' free but also are just touching - or at least are making a hissing/rubbing sound. I too have Elixir R

  • @PorkerTinker

is the clearance between your stock avid G3 rotor and brakepad non-existent like it is in my set?? I think there should be a millimeter or 2 of clearance on all disc brakes.. best i can adjust the brake only makes the rubbing sound once per revolution of the wheel, which means there is a minute amount of warp on my rotor

  • Avid Elixir R doesn't allow pads adjustment. You should use plastic you supposed to get with breaks to put it in between the pads to set the pads to proper distance from each other.

  • Nice simple, clear video of how to stop disk brake rubbing. Thanks!

  • ty so much cuz im a downhiller and right now i have a race and my brake is hitting the rotter making me loose seconds and me mechanic isn't here so i went on my laptop to google it and ur a life saver

  • I´m gonna try it... my front wheel (the only wheel with disk brake) touches the brake so if I lift the wheel it stops pretty fast xD

  • man your a life saver :D:D cracking vid

  • Thanks you're other vid is good too btw iiTz "Jump?" off moredirt btw
