you are probably reffering to the illegal 'Turkish republic of northern cyprus' which is nothing but a puppet state run by the Turkish army. the Republic of Cyprus is the legal state on the island.

The history im reffering to is the actual fact of tmt starting bloodshed in christmas 1963 demanding the division of the island. if your regime allows you read that part of recorded history after its approved by the generals in turkey. I dont think Greeks would attack you, the simplest proof; go around and ask any greek cypriot in nicosia. you also have to realise that the way europed has changed a war even between greeks and turks is the most unlikely of cases.

i dnt know i mean last summer when i was in cyprus several images were posted on the newspaper of cyprus where there were writings on the walls of the houses right near the border and it said horrible things which i am not goin to say but also if the greeks wouldnt attack us and they wanted piece then they should have said yes to the plan that was put forward few years ago! im sure you know about it

Of course i know about the plan and i voted no as well. because i want peace with my compatriots (turkish cypriots), but i want peace on better terms. If you look at the anan plan that was proposed it was favouring turkey and more or less put Greek Cypriots under Turkish pupilage. Anyway I dont thinnk this is the right palce to continue this discussion but i strongly hope that someday we will both (greek and turkish cypriot) reach a peace agreement based on mutual respect and so forth.

If you look at history it was the turkish cypriots who started fighting in 1963 demanding the division of the island and from that point on attrocities were commited by both sides. we said no to a 'peace' plan that would make us subjects of turkey. We still want peace but on better terms and in such a way that will respect both greek cypriots and turkish cypriots' right. thats the truth.

hehe..! Correct! The "Republic of Cyprus" is just the english official translation of Kypriaki Dimokratia (Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία). If not convinced check yourself on the official site of Cyprus Government. (youtube doesn't allows me to add the URL.)

If you view the site in english you will see that on the top left side, under the emblem of the government, with small letters saying "Republic of Cyprus".

It has nothing to do with turkey. :-)

Actually the clapping came from the group of children of the two english schools who were visiting the island. They thought that the airplane was gonna land in the sea as the airport it is just a few meters away from the beach! It was funny..! If you travel to the Republic of Cyprus via Larnaca airport you will see what i mean. :)
